I love Pupatella - always have since they were in a single side of the Wilson Blvd location. The Springfield location is a welcome addition to the area! We love the mozzarella balls, garlic mozzarella bed, filetti and classica pizzas. Really everything is good! One thing - IT IS SO LOUD. Pupatella, *please* get acoustical panels. We can't hear each other across the table and only hear bells dinging, silverware, glassware, chairs scraping across the floors, bussers clearing dishes and LOTS of loud voices to go over all this. Please consider panels! I also think it could be great to add a flag to the tables for service. Since the setup is counter service it's hard to know who to ask for drink refills, extra napkins, etc. read more

We visited Pupatella in Springfield on a Sunday afternoon. Overall, it was a very underwhelming experience. First, we wanted to eat in, but the entry/ordering process was a bit confusing. We weren't sure if a host would seat us, so we stood in the entry for a few minutes (with menus) before realizing that all orders were placed at the register. Not a big deal, but it would have been helpful for a staff member to point that out. When ordering, we also paid in full, to include a tip for service not yet experienced (plates, water, drinks, food service and cleanup); this was also weird. The table at which we initially sat was broken, so we moved, prompting the presumptive manager (working from a laptop at another table) to declaim to another employee, "We should probably fix that." True... The table service was prompt and polite, and was the highlight. The food was not great. We tried the Amalfi salad, which wasn't bad. We also ordered a kids pizza, and a sausage and onion pizza. Both pizzas were undercooked. Unlike every other Neapolitan pizza I've had, the dough was not crispy and the bottom was soggy (like eating a crepe). The dough was also raw toward the middle of the pizza. The sausage pizza was really bland, to the point where I had to dump on red pepper flakes just for some flavor (I don't even like red pepper flakes....). This was not my experience at the Arlington location, so maybe they are still working out the kinks. Overall, given the price and the lackluster pizza, we probably won't return. read more

First time here since they opened recently. Pros: Pizza was authentic thin crust, great flavor but crust was soggy in the middle. Cons: Noise level was incredibly loud. Chaotic atmosphere, nobody told us we had to order at the counter before sitting down. No refills offered. Granted, this was a Saturday night. We have frequently visited many of the Pupatella locations. This was by far the best experience we have had. We love our pie a little crispier than usual and it came out just like that! Making it the best pizza we have had. Ricky was our waiter and he was so friendly. He was attentive and really knowledgeable about the Pupatella brand. The Margherita Doc was excellent. I have been to several Napolitan pizzeria's and they are high up there with Crust and Stellina. It was nice to see the managers running the place. I didn't give it a 5 due to the price. $17.50 for a single person pizza is quite high. I know that there is inflation but most people couldn't afford this place on a family pizza night. It has to be occasional. It's a shame cause pizza is a cheap item to make. A family of 4 would pay over $100 with tax and drinks. Not many families can afford that in the West Springfield area. We were anxious for this location to open. Springfield needs more good restaurants. We ate at there on Saturday...went at 5:30pm as they have been packed. We had the side salad, Margherita and sausage and onion pizza...definitely recommend, delicious. Service was great, staff was friendly and we got our food sooner than expected given how busy they were. I make allowances for a new restaurant to work out the kinks...not the case here. The inside of the restaurant is very nice. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow. We waited well over an hour after we ordered for our pizza. The waitress explained that staffing was short and the manager did take 1/2 off our bill without us even complaining, so that part was resolved. However, I just can't get past the soggy crust on the burrata (not as bad on the other pizzas at our table). When I asked the waitress about it, she said that is how it's intended to be. It's inedible, unfortunately. So, the flavor is really good but the crust is terrible. The sausage and onion pizza crust was much much better. Overall, I see no reason to return. read more

Very disappointed to have to leave this review since my family loves going to Pupatella. My son's school held a silent auction recently and seeing a dinner for four at Pupatella on the list of items I bid to win. In the end, we won the gift certificate. A few weeks later my parents were in town from WI and we were very excited to take them since they had never been. Unfortunately, nobody at the restaurant had any idea what the certificate was actually good for and they treated us like we were a nuisance for being there with the gift certificate. At first we were told we could get one pizza and one appetizer each, which was stated on the certificate. So we ordered a salad and pizza each. Then we're told salads aren't appetizers. Fine, we ordered something else. Then we were told those also didn't qualify as appetizers. One issue was that while the certificate said "appetizers", there isn't an appetizer section on the menu. It's small plates and salads and then street snacks. Not our fault we were confused, but the bar manager treated us like were trying to game the system for asking for salads even though cost wise they are equivalent or less expensive even than other options we could have chosen. From there our table was pretty much abandoned, even though we didn't cause a stir in the moment or really express any disappointment. Anyway, I think the quality of service has gone down hill since this location first opened which isn't long ago. Very sad, because we used to love visiting on Fridays after work for a family dinner. Next time, I think we'll try somewhere else. read more

Did not have an enjoyable experience overall. The bartenders and servers were eating while working. The appetizer sampler was fine. I ordered a seasonal pizza that I could not finish. The smoked mozzarella was so overpowering that I wondered if anyone had actually tried it before putting it on the menu. The pepperoni pizza was soggy in the middle. The bill was $100 before tip. For that price point I expect a lot more in terms of quality and service. I have eaten at their different locations and had a much better experience. I had a great 5-star experience at Pupatella Springfield. I got the diavola pizza and it was delicious. The pizza itself was a perfect Neapolitan pizza, the crust a little burnt and the dough a little bit undercooked. I got the Italian fritti (donuts), for dessert. I will be back! read more

Scheduled pickup of pizzas for 540pm and showed up five minutes early. Went to register and told lady my name and that I was five minutes early for my scheduled 540 order. She let me know it would be up in five minutes. 20 minutes later no pizzas. I went into the app and saw that I needed to click 'IVE ARRIVED' for them to start making my order. Not sure why I would need to do that when I Scheduled the order and told them I was there which they acknowledged. We've been Pupatella's customers for many years and it's still the best pizza in the DMV! We had lunch today at the Springfield location which has plenty of tables and a very nice atmosphere. Ricky was our server and he was excellent. We really appreciated the military discount. We ordered two burrata pizzas and a classic margherita pizza...all amazing! The cocktails we had were also delicious...a spiked limonata and a spicy Paloma. Pupatella's never lets us down. We will be back!!! I've had the pizza before at this place but I decided to dine in instead of order carry out or use a delivery service. I was very pleased with the experience. The service was great. I ordered a beer to start, it was very cold and tasted fresh and taps were clean. The service was timely but not rushing my order. I decided to start with the side salad with the mixed olives appetizer. The salad was fresh. The balsamic dressing tasted very good. I love olives so I enjoyed the variety of olives in the mix. I ordered the carnivore style pizza and when it came out it was perfectly done. The ingredients were generous but not over loaded. I added a bit of my salad to the top of the last slices of pizza because I ended up eating it all except for a few bites of crust that I wanted to eat but I just had no room for it. A few weeks ago, I had my second experience at this restaurant. After my first one, I said I'd never go back, however, my friend wanted to treat me for lunch so she picked this place. I ordered a panini sandwich. It was a sandwich, nothing panini about it. A panini is grilled on top and bottom, this was a hunk of bread with meat in the middle. I was so confused, I just sat and stared at it for what seemed like 15 minutes. I also ordered a hot tea, it was cold out! Nope, no way to have a hot beverage. "We don't have any hot water in our sinks." That kind of freaked me out! Yikes. The service was so-so! I wasn't impressed with the decor either, very cold feeling and a terrible bar setup.
