Very disappointed to have to leave this review since my family loves going to Pupatella. My son's school held a silent auction recently and seeing a dinner for four at Pupatella on the list of items I bid to win. In the end, we won the gift certificate. A few weeks later my parents were in town from WI and we were very excited to take them since they had never been. Unfortunately, nobody at the restaurant had any idea what the certificate was actually good for and they treated us like we were a nuisance for being there with the gift certificate. At first we were told we could get one pizza and one appetizer each, which was stated on the certificate. So we ordered a salad and pizza each. Then we're told salads aren't appetizers. Fine, we ordered something else. Then we were told those also didn't qualify as appetizers. One issue was that while the certificate said "appetizers", there isn't an appetizer section on the menu. It's small plates and salads and then street snacks. Not our fault we were confused, but the bar manager treated us like were trying to game the system for asking for salads even though cost wise they are equivalent or less expensive even than other options we could have chosen. From there our table was pretty much abandoned, even though we didn't cause a stir in the moment or really express any disappointment. Anyway, I think the quality of service has gone down hill since this location first opened which isn't long ago. Very sad, because we used to love visiting on Fridays after work for a family dinner. Next time, I think we'll try somewhere else. read more

Did not have an enjoyable experience overall. The bartenders and servers were eating while working. The appetizer sampler was fine. I ordered a seasonal pizza that I could not finish. The smoked mozzarella was so overpowering that I wondered if anyone had actually tried it before putting it on the menu. The pepperoni pizza was soggy in the middle. The bill was $100 before tip. For that price point I expect a lot more in terms of quality and service. I have eaten at their different locations and had a much better experience. The inside of the restaurant is very nice. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow. We waited well over an hour after we ordered for our pizza. The waitress explained that staffing was short and the manager did take 1/2 off our bill without us even complaining, so that part was resolved. However, I just can't get past the soggy crust on the burrata (not as bad on the other pizzas at our table). When I asked the waitress about it, she said that is how it's intended to be. It's inedible, unfortunately. So, the flavor is really good but the crust is terrible. The sausage and onion pizza crust was much much better. Overall, I see no reason to return. read more

I came in for lunch and there wasn't a lot of customers but workers seemed like they were making things for later . The bartender Aimee saw me sitting not greeted yet and came to help me. She was absolutely wonderful. Gave me great suggestions that came out absolutely delicious. I will definitely return to see Aimee at the bar to try out her special drinks she was telling me about. I had a great 5-star experience at Pupatella Springfield. I got the diavola pizza and it was delicious. The pizza itself was a perfect Neapolitan pizza, the crust a little burnt and the dough a little bit undercooked. I got the Italian fritti (donuts), for dessert. I will be back! read more

Scheduled pickup of pizzas for 540pm and showed up five minutes early. Went to register and told lady my name and that I was five minutes early for my scheduled 540 order. She let me know it would be up in five minutes. 20 minutes later no pizzas. I went into the app and saw that I needed to click 'IVE ARRIVED' for them to start making my order. Not sure why I would need to do that when I Scheduled the order and told them I was there which they acknowledged. The logistics here are way off for the volume they try to do and the quality suffers due to it. read more

We've been Pupatella's customers for many years and it's still the best pizza in the DMV! We had lunch today at the Springfield location which has plenty of tables and a very nice atmosphere. Ricky was our server and he was excellent. We really appreciated the military discount. We ordered two burrata pizzas and a classic margherita pizza...all amazing! The cocktails we had were also delicious...a spiked limonata and a spicy Paloma. Pupatella's never lets us down. We will be back!!! I've had the pizza before at this place but I decided to dine in instead of order carry out or use a delivery service. I was very pleased with the experience. The service was great. I ordered a beer to start, it was very cold and tasted fresh and taps were clean. The service was timely but not rushing my order. I decided to start with the side salad with the mixed olives appetizer. The salad was fresh. The balsamic dressing tasted very good. I love olives so I enjoyed the variety of olives in the mix. I ordered the carnivore style pizza and when it came out it was perfectly done. The ingredients were generous but not over loaded. I added a bit of my salad to the top of the last slices of pizza because I ended up eating it all except for a few bites of crust that I wanted to eat but I just had no room for it. I tried calling to make an order, but they told me they only do online orders. I then tried ordering off their website, but it wouldn't accept my card. I then checked my bank and saw that I was charged for the order and now have wait till the bank refunds me. I called the store and emailed them screen shots from my bank to show what happened. A few weeks ago, I had my second experience at this restaurant. After my first one, I said I'd never go back, however, my friend wanted to treat me for lunch so she picked this place. I ordered a panini sandwich. It was a sandwich, nothing panini about it. A panini is grilled on top and bottom, this was a hunk of bread with meat in the middle. I was so confused, I just sat and stared at it for what seemed like 15 minutes. I also ordered a hot tea, it was cold out! Nope, no way to have a hot beverage. "We don't have any hot water in our sinks." That kind of freaked me out! Yikes. The service was so-so! I wasn't impressed with the decor either, very cold feeling and a terrible bar setup. This past Friday we decided to order Pupatela's on line as we've been doing since they started on line orders. My son picked the order up, when he got home he noticed the bagged item had our receipt on it and the pizzas had someone else's receipt. We tried to call and it went to voicemail and said they'd get back to us. I took all the items back. As I walked in carrying the items I passed what I thought was a host. I looked at him but he didn't acknowledge me, so I continued on to the cashier. As I explained my situation to the cashier he yelled to the manager which turned out to be the employee I walked past at the entrance. I suggested the cashier not broadcast the issue to the entire restaurant which he apologized for. The manager came and heard me out and said he'd put my order in front of the line to rush it. They handed me the pizzas and the original bag of now cold items. After being so inconvenienced, wouldn't you think I'd at least get an apology from the manager? No such luck. After all of this, the sausage on my Diovola pizza wasn't even tasteful. read more

Pizza was okay, i need to go back and try some other items on the menu before I can give honest evaluation-but i will say, the place is loud, so dining in would not be something to my liking, i also enjoy fountain sodas-the tradional ones like coke or pepsi. Last, prices are high everywhere, so this place doesn't surprise me about costs. So, for my first review-and i do hope i can jack it up to 5 stars after trying more stuff on the menu I give it 3 stars-mainly because of the nice young lady who waited on me. I get their whole marketing about it being certified Neapolitan pizza and how it is prepared in a special oven, but for the price and taste I've had way better pizza in this local area elsewhere. The pizza wasn't hot when they brought it over. The pepperoni was so greasy the bread was soggy. I tipped very well when I paid before I sat down. I paid $65 for 3 pizzas and a salad. The caprese salad that had 1 piece of mozzarella, 2 pieces of bread and tomatoes with basalmic vinegarette which was supposedly to feed up to 3 people, ridiculous!! The cheese pizza was good. At last, a decent pizza place in West Springfield! I walked in to order a pepperoni pizza (they don't take phone or online orders yet), and walked out with my pie 10 minutes later. The edge had a good, tasty char, and the crust was thin and chewy, just the way I like it. It's such a refreshing change from the bready crust so prevalent in the DMV. The sauce was satisfying, as was the amount of pepperoni. The waitstaff are all friendly and eager to be of assistance. And best of all, the location is a five-minute walk from my house. I make it a point to walk my dogs past the patio in the evening so they can socialize with the patrons (no, I don't allow them to beg). Welcome to the neighborhood, Pupatella! read more

The staff was really nice and attentive. Unfortunately the pizza was only mediocre, if not undercooked. The dough was rubbery and there was not much flavor to the red sauce. The place felt like one of the many single serve pizza places, with an attempt to give it an Italian flare. Everything about this place is great. Great workers great staff has a little bar , cool place, but the pizza is probably the worst tasting pizza I've ever had.
