First time visited this spot because of a friend's referral. Jackie did an amazing job with Lanbao! Lanbao needed a summer cut because the weather is getting hotter, and I have failed to get to some spot when I tried to DIY. I haven't brought him for professional grooming for 5 years now. However, as Lanbao gets older (he is 11 years old this year), it's harder to do the grooming myself. Lanbao got a bit of old man attitude :) Jackie was so kind and detailing how she will make sure Lanbao gets breaks during the grooming. Lanbao is sensitive with his paws and his face being trimmed. I wasn't expecting she would have a success trimming it. However, Jackie got to it so well! Lanbao is a happy old man going into summer! I cannot say enough good things about the quality of care that my dog received with Jen and the great team at Pup Scrub. I inherited a dog who had probably never been groomed before and needed a bath and a toenail clipping terribly. Not only were they able to fit me in promptly, the service and care that they gave this poor dog was outstanding. When she had a response to blow drying they gave her a huggy Hoody which calmed her down. They didn't rush it and oh my gosh this dog smells so good now! This place is pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for. They did a great job explaining the process to me as a first time customer, weren't in a rush, and finished on time. They didn't seem overly crowded which is a change from the places I've gone in Seattle where there were dogs everywhere. My dog also didn't seem super stressed when he left which is a big change from the other places I've gone. They knew exactly how to handle my aussies coat and didn't overdo it with the trimming. I am leaving two stars for the simple fact that once upon a time, this was our go-to dog groomer. Pre-Covid, we brought our rescue dog of three years, a Sharpei with anxiety towards nail trims. Before we ever go to a groomer, we are always communicative and transparent about him, because we want to ensure the safety of the worker, and our fur baby. Nails are usually a no-go. They did a wonderful job the first couple times we came in, bathed and all, Koopa didn't exhibit any anxious behavior when we picked him up, and we thought, "well, we found our groomers!" That is until we schedule our last appointment, this February. We arrived, set the dogs up, again, communicated that nails were a no-go, but they could try if he was comfortable with them (which, I assumed he was getting familiar with the workers). About two hours later, we get a call to come to get the dogs "10-15 mins". No problem. Super excited to see the fluffs. We get there around 15-20 mins later, and find the dogs tethered to the front of the store inside. Sweet! The owner I assume is outside speaking to another customer, and there is another worker inside taking phone calls. The conversation between the customer and the owner literally goes on for 15-20 mins. Our dogs are, naturally, anxious seeing us, and our big dog that I mentioned before, starts barking. To which the lady behind the counter decides it's appropriate to yell at my dog to "Shut up! Be quiet!" Wouldn't it be easier to check me out and let me comfort my dog instead of making us wait 20+ mins after you specifically told us to arrive? That unfortunately is not the reason I am leaving the review. I guess I, somehow, could have overlooked the small women yelling at my already anxiety ridden dog to shut up. Also, I really enjoyed the fact she made direct eye contact with me, smiled, and kept yelling. Made the sound of my dog yelping sound like a symphony, let me tell ya. After the "short" 20 min conversation with the other patron about her highly anxious dog, my anxious dog has now been sitting in this store for way too long. We are told that she was unable to perform full cleaning service because he is "too bitey" and "a mean dog." My immediate thought, "my dog is attempting to bite you for this first time, and you didn't think to call us to come get him or just communicate you are uncomfortable?" I have absolutely NO problem with someone refusing service over their safety. But I would have much rather them call me and communicate that. Instead, they charged us full price, and probably did 1/5 of the service intended. How do I know this? He's at home, still shedding like a yeti on a yacht. Fine, whatever. At this point, we just want the dogs home. We ask to pay before we even have the dogs in our possession and get them back immediately. I then watch the owner, and I cannot emphasize how angry I was, grab my dogs leash, and yank upwards three times to get him up. I'm not a veterinarian, but I am pretty sure you do not get dogs to get up like that, nor do you literally tug on a dog's trachea with their leash. He was wearing a collar. Not a harness. Solid tugs. I immediately notice how nervous and shaky my dog is. A type of anxiety I have NEVER seen him exhibit at this groomer. My boyfriend and I then make the decision to never return here. I am not sure if it's under new management, or if the workers are just overworked. Either way, I paid good money and tipped nicely to ensure the workers felt compensated, and that my dogs felt comfortable, especially my anxious boy. All we asked for is communication and transparency. We are a young couple, and are incredibly understanding to businesses during Covid times. Now I fear I have just created a new anxiety for my dog, the groomers that apparently feel the need to yell at him to "shut up" and yank on his neck. I would rather get elbow deep in dog shampoo myself and then watch some worker treat and refer to my dog like garbage. The entire ordeal gave ME anxiety, let alone my dogs, and I just don't feel comfortable with my dogs being left at this business any longer. I really hope the management can review this, and reflect on why it's really not okay to scream at dogs in the middle of your store, and perhaps wrap a collar and leash around your own neck and tug around for a bit. Not a very nice feeling :) Our appointment was February 20th, the yelling (if you have audio cameras and would like to verify) was around noon. The tugs occurred around the same time, and happened when the worker/owner went to untether him towards the front left of the store, near the checkout counter. I have brought my bichon here for a bath and tidy twice. The first time, my dog looked amazing, the second time, my dog looked not as amazing but still good. They are a pricey but I was happy with their work. When it came time for his next bath, the pup scrub had no availability so I started trying out a different groomer closer to me since my dog gets groomed often. A few months later I couldn't get an appointment with my normal groomer so I figured I call the pup scrub and check their availability. The woman on the phone was rude. She overtook the conversation, instantly assumed that my dog was matted, told me that if my dog was matted they would have to turn him away, and then told me that even though my dog gets bathed every two/three weeks, it's worse. First and foremost my 15 year old dog is not matted and get PROFESSIONALLY GROOMED every two or three weeks and a hair cut once every other month, and it's been like that since he was 18 months old. Shocked and annoyed with her attitude and tone, I told her that I would just wait for my normal groomer to be available. This interaction really left a sour taste in my mouth. read more

Lesson of the day: if you bring your dog here, watch exactly what they are doing. This is going to be a long one because I have two stories with two different dogs. Story 1. I had been taking my dogs to this place for nails trims for a while a never had an issue. One day I took our older dog for a nail trim during COVID so I wasn't allowed in, ok fine I get it. They took her back no problem, but all of a sudden I turn and look inside and they have my dog pinned down, she's upside down and terrified, and they are trying to put a muzzle on her because she was apparently "trying to bite them". She's never been a dog to bite and has been to this place multiple times before without an issue. In the moment I should have walked inside but I was too shocked to do anything. I was MORTIFIED. They came outside and gave me some story about her trying to be aggressive and biting them which is total BS. She also at the time was going through cancer treatment and an older dog so she was already in a frail state and should have no way been treated the way she was treated. I ended up sending an email to the owner and got an "apology," and by apology I really mean a long lecture about how a muzzle is not a bad thing and they needed to use it in the moment. I don't have anything against them using a muzzle, but it's the fact that they didn't come out to tell me about what was happening or ask me for help, and instead just flipped my dog on her back and used 3 people to hold her down ultimately TERRIFYING her. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt since they "apologized" and offered their next service for free but I never trusted them after that. I still feel horrible for not doing anything in the moment. Story 2: we recently got a puppy who is about 5 months old and has never been to a salon to have her nails done. I called ahead of time to ask if I could bring her in AND go in with her since it's her first time and I didn't want her terrified. The woman on the phone said she asked the groomer and they said it was fine that I come in. I arrive at the place and the owner came out to take my dog in and I said "oh I called ahead and they said I could come in since it's her first time." The owner then says "oh she must've misunderstood you because we don't really do that" and then gave me a lecture about how I need to let my puppy go inside alone and it's important for her to build independence. So I went ahead and tried that because our puppy thankfully doesn't seem to have much anxiety. It ended up being fine but I just felt kind of tricked/played by them to get me to come and then changing the narrative at the last second. After both of these instances I don't think I'll be back. They also raised their prices, which fine I get it, but this along with our experiences by myself and from what I've heard from others, with them I think I'm finally done with this place. Also, if your dog has any amount of anxiety, this place is NOT a calm environment whatsoever. I think they take too many dogs at one time and it just ends up causing so much chaos inside which in turn freaks other dogs out. read more

Take your dog anywhere but here. We went to pickup our medium size dog and they wanted to charge us $230... You read that right. And that's apparently a normal cost for grooming to them. They were rude on the phone. They didn't tell us the cost ahead of time and blamed us for not asking. We've reported them to the BBB and disputed the charge with our credit card company. We love this place! We have been three times and will continue to come back if we're in the area. I have a 66 pound goldendoodle who is not the biggest fan of baths, but luckily pup scrub has my back. I come here for the self-wash and honestly, it's one of the better places I've been to! The tubs are large, fairly clean, and they have a large selection of shampoos and conditioners. They give you two towels and they have industrial pet dryers (which if you have any poodle mix - it's a huge time saver). If you need anything at all, there is always staff on hand to assist you as well. They have great hours and they are also affordable. If I go to a different self-wash, I usually find myself comparing it to pup scrub. Overall, a great self wash place. An FYI: they do groom dogs in the same area, so you may have other dogs around you or even barking the whole time. As long as your dog doesn't get anxious or is reactive to other dogs, then that shouldn't be a problem. read more

I have been taking my dog to pup scrub for 3 years now and today was the last time. From start to finish of my experience today I am disappointed in the level of professional from this shop. I booked my dogs for a bath and tidy trim. I was not told My dogs would only be seeing one technician when I booked. If I had know this was the case I would have booked them individually like I initially asked but the lady said it was better to come together. We arrived for our appointments at 8:40 am and was told they couldn't find my profile, weird since I have been a guest for several years (they don't care about this they only care about the $$). The service and technician have only gotten worse over the years. We kept coming due to our dogs knowing them and being comfortable with the staff. After 3 hours I called to check in and was told it would be another 20 mins. Again, I was not told only one person was working on my dogs. After another 40 mins I went to see what was going on. I was greeted by the gentlemen who was working on my dogs and right away he starting lecturing me on how horrible (his words) my dogs were. I was shocked and asked them to stop the service as I felt very uncomfortable having my dogs in such a hostile environment. My dogs have never been talked about like this from previous employees who have worked on them that's why we have come back. I then was rudely greeted by the owner who came out and screamed at me and dropped my dogs leash. She's lucky he did not run away by he amount of distress the was in. If they treated my dogs like that in front of me I can only imagine how they were treated while I wasn't there. I have recommended many people to come here and that will not happen anymore. The owner is very unprofessional and does not care about the well being of your dogs. Happy to recommend other small business groomers in the area who provide better service, care about your dogs well being and are much less expensive with more experience. read more

Absolutely horrible service. I went in with a fluffy full of energy dog to someone who literally shaved him all the way down and left my dog in fear. I could have completed a similar haircut with children's sheers. I was so extremely disappointed in the service, I left the shop, then returned to have them at least clean his face. My dog has been coming here for 10 years, I've never had such poor service. An $80 haircut should not leave my dog traumatized. He is cut so short, he is now shaking because he is cold. I then put a sweater on him. I am never taking him here again and am truly disappointed in the quality of service and lack of care taken on animals. Let alone this whole process took 3 hours, and immediate upon arrival they told me they were planning to crate him. I actually have no stars. First time... not a great job on my Australian Cattle dog. Not even mediocre. I did not like that you can not walk in and that they yell at you if you do. I figured I would try a second time. Again... you can't walk in. There are "keep out" signs on the doors. That are glass. And a sign that says they will see you when you walk up. We were about 20 minutes early today and I could hear them through the glass talking. They were annoyed that we were early. I asked if she could do a little more than last time. She said I'll have to schedule another time if I want extra hair cut because I don't do that. I told them the first time that I need a 20 minute heads up before they want me to pick her up. They gave me 10 minutes. And called once again when I was almost there. Standing outside the glass doors. A girl walked by and asked if I was waiting for my dog. I said yes.... She says... I hope you know they muzzle them. The girl that groomed her came out (meanwhile you cannot see your dog in the window, I assume they have a back area to muzzle them) I asked her if my dog was muzzled. She said yes. I paid. Did not tip. She took my card, charged me 115 for an awful job before I could even see my dog. She then brought my card back outside... went back in to get my dog.... Brought her out, and my poor baby was shaking when we got in the car. I was honest and told her we will never be back again. Just moved back into the Bothell area after living in Seattle for three years. Before that, my dog was a regular at a shop in Lynnwood, that started out great, but started getting horrible reviews, and on one occasion, my dog had been there for over 4 hours for just a routine haircut and nail trim. I later started hearing dogs were left with sores after attending this place. During my time in Seattle, we bounced around and never really found the correct and comfortable place for my dog. Recently I reached out via Facebook looking for suggestions from friends on wholesome and reliable groomers in my area. Most places I had researched on my own were booked out for months! The sister of one of the groom techs at PupScubs recommended I make an appointment, and so I did! They were able to schedule me in within two weeks. Today was Ralphie's appointment and we were the first ones inside. The environment was welcoming and clean. New client setup was easy peasy! Ralphie can be a little scoundrel when it comes to grooming, and I was happy to see him well taken care of regardless. When I walked in to pick him up, (after only two hours!!! Yay!) He wasn't being held in a kennel in the back. He was on a leash inside by the door and had a nice little bed to sit on. Such a lovely experience. We will be back!! read more

We recently moved to Kirkland from Queen Anne. We were very nervous about finding a new groomer. My dog, is a rescue and she gets very nervous when it's time to get groomed. Pup scrub did such an amazing job taking care of Arya and giving her the cutest haircut ever after being quarantined!! Groomers have a hard time giving my dog a cute haircut because her hair is so thin but pup scrub went above a beyond compared to other places by giving her the best haircut ever! Stopped in tonight for the first time to get a walk-in nail trim for my pup. I was surprised by how busy it was. They asked me to return in 10 min which was no problem. I so appreciate the walk in service! The groomer who was with my pup was very good - you could tell she was comfortable and adept at her job. She also spoke sweetly to her, which I appreciated, as my dog was obviously nervous. She hates having her nails trimmed but tolerated it well, no doubt the quick work of the groomer helped with this!
