Super friendly service. Nice outdoor seating area. Loads of insects in the area; wear insect spray! I got an alcpapurria and my partner got an empanada. Both were excellent. Fresh. Crispy. I would come back again and again for these. We both also got Bistec sandwiches. The bread was fantastic. The steak wasn't charred enough for my liking. The sandwich had way too much sauce. It was tasty, but I wouldn't run back for this. The portions were huge.

Pros: Nice garlic…read morebuttery taste of shrimp and mofongo. The beans were nice too. There were two starches and two proteins, so I had almost half for leftovers. 8.5/10 Nice clean cafe with polite servers. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. Adequate parking outside. It is on the end of a tan plaza on the opposite end from the Shamrocks pub. Cons The price on the menu for the mofongo shrimp bowl was $18. However, when inserting my card for the reader, it said "$20". There is a lot of starch in the mofongo bowl since there is rice and plantains .It would have been nice to see a little bit of veggies in there. Others have posted pictures with a side salad with their mofongo. Maybe I ordered the wrong item? Overall: a very good Boricua restaurant in temple terrace.

I had a fun, friendly and delicious experience here! I ordered dinner for two to go around 4pm…read morebecause several people we know have recommended this Puerto Rican restaurant. I had actually been here a few weeks back on an early Sunday morning for a lively, free and interesting cars and coffee event. I was looking forward to a full dinner! The place is spotless, has plenty of parking, and excellent engaging service. Gigi helped me order well and I asked her what her favorite appetizer was. Answer... the beef empanada! So, I ordered that too! Omi popped by as well we chatted a bit about the restaurant's origin story. Everything is made to order as this isn't fast food and that is more than fine with me! I relaxed at the bar and informed Gigi I'm not drinking alcohol. She offered a mocktail, of her own invention so I immediately said yes! She whipped up a beautiful drink which was also very tasty! I asked what was in it and I remember pineapple, strawberry and lemon wedges plus some other ingredients that I don't remember. It's stunning so I took a video! I asked what she called it and she explained "Omi's Sunshine Mocktail!" Perfecto! We ate the empanada on the way home and it was large, crunch and tasty! Our entrees, my lechon with salad, yellow rice and pigeon peas was well presented and yummy. I don't know what the sauce was or how it was supposed to be consumed so I just mixed it all together! Worked well for me! I will report later on the mofongo as we are full after a day of free birthday treats! Life is good with a local, excellent, well-respected and for good reason, authentic Puerto Rican restaurant!
