I do not recall how I heard about this place but I love a good burger so I was game! I looked at the menu in advance and saw a lot of options that I liked but because so much caught my eye - I became overwhelmed when I was about to order so I built my own burger... My hubby ordered a Juicy Philly with a turkey patty with a side of onion rings; I ordered a Turkey patty with Cusabi, avocado, smoked Gouda and P'unk sauce with a side of sweet potato fries. My burger was good but my hubby's burger was EXCELLENT (so were his onion rings - lol). We also ordered shakes - I had the BW (vanilla and Nutella) and my hubby had a strawberry shake (I think). I thoroughly enjoyed my shake; I did not taste his. The service was great! The young lady who waited on us was nice - she explained the menu well and checked on us while we dined. The prices are a little higher than I anticipated BUT the food was so fresh and tasty that I could not harp on prices. Overall I do recommend this spot and will definitely be returning. Tip: this is a cash only business (they do have an ATM inside, if needed).

restaurant week burger special (impossible burger with fig jam)

i've been here a couple times for lunch now, and my biggest takeaway is that i should be taking this food away instead of eating there because they are messy!! both times i've been were during the workweek on my lunch hour, and there was ample seating available, which is an amazing draw during the colder months. i have gotten their normal veggie burger, and while it tasted great, it falls trap to a common veggie burger issue: no structural integrity. the patty refused to stay together and was falling off with every bite. for the most recent restaurant week, i got their special impossible burger with fig jam. this tasted even better imo, and the impossible burger held up much better compared to the veggie, but she was STICKY!! this was 100% due to that jam so there's really nothing that could've been done, but i definitely looked silly trying to tame it. the restaurant week deal included a burger, a side (great, crispy sweet potato fries), and a shake (a fantastic captain crunch inspired one) for an awesome price, so i definitely see myself returning for a similar deal. i just know better now than to try and eat this in public lol

Great prices for smash burgers. I usually order double which is like $13 at the time. Great value for the quality of food.

I visited for lunch during Restaurant Week, which I enjoyed because of its close proximity to the corporate hub in Center City where I work and for its solid menu. I was seated quickly at a high-top for my noon reservation. The restaurant is much larger inside than it looks, split in half with the left providing an upscale bar aesthetic while the right presents a quieter, modern lounge feel. (It seemed like service staff was directing those with previously-booked OpenTable RSVPs to the lounge side.) Service was great, as my waitress continuously checked in during my meal even as more customers arrived throughout the lunch period. I appreciated being offered to add fries on my burger order, as Village Whiskey didn't have it automatically added on the RW menu. The only drawback was she forgot to ask how I wanted my burger cooked, but it came out medium rare which is the way I eat it regardless. I trust that's how they default, which is a good sign. The Food Breakdown: Deviled Eggs (4/5) - Classic, solid, and a good starter. I honestly selected it since the other appetizer options didn't really appeal to me, but nothing spectacular or negative about it. Four comes with each order. All-American Burger (5/5) - Fantastic. I'm not a pickle enjoyer, but the acidity just blended into each juicy bite. The jam had a slight kick, and you can taste the fattiness within the double Wagyu smash patties. High-quality all around and a solid portion size. Duck Fat Fries (4/5) - They were well-seasoned, and each order comes with a small side of ketchup. Granted I didn't ask, but I almost wish they offered a spicy mayo instead because it would complement the crunchiness better. Overall, the food quality and taste were superb. My only caveat was the price, knowing that $35 after tax and gratuity for lunch (without an additional drink) is costly. I wouldn't be able to come everyday, but it certainly has my vote for sharing with others the destination that has an immaculate burger.

Our serve apologized profusely and they gave us a sweet treat on the house at the end of our meal. I ordered the frittata which was delicious and my husband to the omelette . We also got the drop biscuits with strawberry rhubarb jam and omg am good! So unholy for a Mac and cheese lover like myself... but it was too acidic for me. I couldn't keep eating it. So I'm basing this review solely on the food. The service seemed ok? On a whim, I called Butcher Bar and told them I know it's last minute on a Saturday night, but could they accommodate 9 people. They told me if we were there in 30 minutes they could make it work, so we rushed over. We sat at the bar for drinks as they cleaned up a table. They overheard us talking about how The Trough would be nice (feeds 8 for $300, but was more than enough for us 9), and said if we wanted that they could get it started as the table was prepared. We said yes, and were sat a few minutes later with drinks in hand. Jenna (Gema? She had grape earrings) was a fantastic server and just so kind and attentive.
