After more than 30 years of visits, Hilton Hawaiian Village remains one of my favorite places in Hawaii. Incredible location, expansive beachfront, wonderful amenities, and gorgeous ocean views. This visit included a fantastic Diamond Reserve welcome, an ocean-view upgrade, and Friday night fireworks enjoyed from our private balcony, cocktails in hand! Five stars, without hesitation! The Details: I've been coming to the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort since the 1990s, and I absolutely LOVE this place! In fact, even when I lived in Hawaii back in the '90s, I'd occasionally treat myself to a staycation here. There's just something special about this resort that keeps bringing me back, decade after decade! We just arrived for another wonderful visit, this time for 12 days! We're combining a business trip and convention next week with two extended weekends of enjoying everything Waikiki and Honolulu have to offer. Not a bad way to mix business with pleasure! My wife will be hard at work the whole time...! (On her tan) ;-) This visit was particularly memorable because I recently achieved Hilton's new Hilton Honors Diamond Reserve status. Upon checking in, the wonderful lady behind the counter noticed my status, raised her eyebrows, and exclaimed, "Wow! You're the first person I've met who's achieved that status! Congratulations, and welcome to Hawaii!" What a fantastic way to begin our vacation! Even better, we received a beautiful upgrade to an ocean-view room with sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean, Waikiki Beach, and iconic Diamond Head. And as luck would have it, our balcony was perfectly positioned for the resort's famous Friday night fireworks! Rather than fighting the crowds gathered along the beach, we enjoyed the entire show from the peaceful comfort of our private balcony, cocktails in hand, watching the fireworks explode against the night sky above the Pacific Ocean. Absolutely spectacular! It's moments like these that remind me why I've loved this property for more than three decades. Another thing that makes the Hilton Hawaiian Village so special is its incredible location. You're right in the heart of the action, with easy access to Waikiki's restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and attractions, yet the resort itself feels like an entire tropical village. There are numerous restaurants, bars, pools, beautifully landscaped grounds, and one of the biggest advantages of all: a huge, beautiful stretch of beachfront right outside the resort! Unlike many other Waikiki hotels, where beach access can be limited or crowded, the Hilton Hawaiian Village enjoys an exceptional beachfront setting. It's also a surprisingly convenient location for business travelers, including those visiting military installations around Honolulu & Joint Base Hickham Pearl Harbor. I've always appreciated being able to handle business during the day and return to what feels like a Hawaiian vacation in the evening! After more than 30 years of visiting, I can confidently say the Hilton Hawaiian Village remains one of my favorite places to stay in Hawaii. Food prices in restaurants are better value compared to other resorts on Waikīkī beach. A Navy exchange is also located within the resort and can't beat the prices for things you may need on vacation. The pools on the resort are nicer then many resorts on Waikīkī beach also just off the resort grounds is Waikiki beach. Just walk onto the sands and look left and the mountain of Diamond head will be in full view.

Hale Koa holds a "job fair" that is essentially a high volume recruiting event for a wide range of positions. Hundreds of people appear to cycle through the event throughout the day. Although the event is advertised as running from 0900-1400, the process continued well into the afternoon. I arrived at approximately 1100, completed paperwork, and then sat and waited. And waited. After roughly two hours, I was finally given my first interview, which consisted essentially of one question about whether I had integrity. I was then moved to another room, where I waited approximately another two hours. My second interview was conducted by an executive chef and the head of food and beverage. I had applied for a leadership position within the hotel's security department. Neither interviewer worked in security, and the interview provided little opportunity to discuss the actual position beyond the standard questions about my experience. When I attempted to ask questions about the position and hiring process, they were unable to provide meaningful answers. Finally, after another approximately 45-minute wait, I was brought in to meet with the head of security. I was told that this was essentially a "get to know you" conversation and that I would need to return to the hotel for another interview at a later date. While the interviewer was nice, and explained the position, there were no relevant questions asked by the interviewer pertaining to the position. After approximately six hours at the hotel, I left with no offer and no clear understanding of what the next steps would be. I followed up multiple times with HR, with one employee punting me to someone else. After about 3 weeks of no update from my initial request and being ignored by the "punt returner" at HR, I finally wrote them and asked them to remove my application from their pool of applicants. The amount of time candidates were required to spend waiting, the lack of coordination between departments, having unrelated department heads conduct interviews for a security leadership position, and the complete lack of follow up from HR made the entire experience unnecessarily frustrating. Candidates are also evaluating an organization during the hiring process. Based on my experience, the hiring process at Hale Koa left me with serious concerns about the organization's communication, coordination, and respect for candidates' time.

The bathroom was literally a closet separated from the room by a semi-wall made of slats. The sink was tiny, and there is no counter. And this was NOT a single occupancy room. The beds were nothing special. Not horrible, but not great either; more like what I'd expect from a motel, not a supposed 4-star hotel. No comforters were provided, which could be related to the lack of adequate AC that I heard multiple guests complaining about. And finally, the internet connection for the TV was pathetic. It took ages to load a simple streaming app. And when I looked for an outlet to charge my phone, the cheap plastic port I found was melted and inoperable.

Overall, I shared 2 nights with a friend and we were able to split the payment between our 2 cards thanks to the Front Desk. I paid probably $221 for my share of the 2 nights which was pretty reasonable for Hawaii. They gave us a $5 credit for drinks/snacks at The Market (which we didn't have time to take advantage of) and a small Hilton bag with 2 bottles of water. The room was surprisingly pretty spacious for the Double Queen Beds, a TV, mini fridge, desk station, comfy couch, and closet. I'm usually one not to sleep well in hotels but I was exhausted from my first Oahu day and slept real good for the 2 nights! It wasn't extremely cold too, it felt like a nice 72-73 degrees. The Breakfast Bar (aka buffet) was included and opens at 6:30 AM and ends 9:30 AM Monday-Friday and at 10 AM on Saturday and Sunday. It was located on the 3rd floor where the pool is located and quite windy. There was a good selection of cereal, toast, bagels, oatmeal, yogurt, pineapple, granola, hot food station (which had Scrambled Eggs, Portuguese Sausage, Pork Link Sausage, House Potatoes, Waffles, etc.) and my absolute favorite, hot rice and Miso Soup! There was Apple and Orange Juice and a nice selection of Hot Tea and Coffee which you can take to go as well. Downside was parking was $62+/overnight. My friend found a parking structure nearby of walking distance which charged only $45/night so we saved a bit especially with renting a Tesla (the closest Tesla Supercharging Station would be the International Market Place-Target Parking Structure on the 4th floor on the left FYI). Overall the Hyatt was welcoming but because it was summer, prepare for lots of families and some wait time with elevators. We booked our Oceania Transoceanic cruise about 18 months in advance - plenty of time to coordinate - but none of our request were handled properly. NS blamed Oceania for the travel arrangements, yet Oceania only comunicates through the travel agent leaving us stuck with NS and no real help. To make matters worse, we (friends and us) were assigned different travel advisors at NS who did not communicate with each other. Our friends and us ended up with cabins on opposite ends of the ship. We both paid for Business Class upgrades; we were booked on different airlines with different itineraries. Wrong information given to us. Communication was poor - excuses, delays and no accountability or taking responsibility. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Non-Stop Travel. If you want clear communication and a company that actually listens, look elsewhere. If you are considering an Oceania cruise, book directly with Oceania.

I was in a time crunch and needed to be somewhere. 10 min delay... - No parking. It's advertised that Parking is available but you have to reserve it way in advance. I had to park a block away. - No front desk. You pick up your room key fob from a lock box. - Only one of two elevators are working. My longest wait for an elevator- 10 mins. No warning from the hotel when you book the room. - Dirty Towels. If they bleach can't get rid of it throw it away. See pic. 2.5 stars Rounded down to 2. Would've been rounded up for the view but the delay and inconvenience bumped it down.
