I stayed at Marina Tower for 3 nights and honestly, it was better than I expected for the price (around $120 a night). The view from the room was amazing -- I could see the ocean and city lights from my window. The staff was helpful and check-in was easy. It's not a fancy resort, but it was quiet, clean, and super close to the beach and shops. I felt relaxed and safe the whole time. It was my cousin's birthday wkd. She never had bad experience with rooms, I am a Wyndham owner and was informed Vacasa is just as reputable. I have not had a bad experience in over 20yrs. Slight hiccups but were rectified asap and was not this bad inconvenience to the vacay except this trip. Had to do an emergency stay at a Motel 6 and Motel 6 was 100% BETTER than this place. We expected the out dated room and tower and elevators from the reviews. When we arrived, we sure did not expect what we walked into..... Once arrived, parking was for a compact we had a sedan. Who goes to hawaii to rent a compact? Elevator smelled moldy- health hazard & definitely breaking a lot of codes. Room smelled of smoke. Rusted medicine cabinet, Mold on the shower curtain, shampoo was half full- just one set for 2 ppl, all the bathroom amenities were in the bathroom cabinet floor, not on the counter like the picture, Medicine cabinet qas rusted, blow dryer did not work. One bed had a skirt that was dirty, other bed had no skirt.  Closet carpet looks like it has never been vacuumed and smelled stuffy and the safe had a lot of rust on it. Cable did Not work, tried to schedule someone to take a look at it over the phone. We gave a time and had to tell them we do Not want anyone coming in while we are not there. They were not able to find 'local' help nor bothered to reschedule when we asked if someone was on thier way. Never rcvd parking pass even though we informed them to just slip it under the door.  Parking pass was supposed to be w the person who would help w the cable. So much more disappointment...we did send our concerns to Vacasa Guest services with pictures. We decided to only use the refrigerator and keep things to the areas we wiped down. This tower is a health risk and am sure it has a lot of code violations. For the $95-99/4 nites it came out ~$800 NOT including parking another ~$140. You are better off booking w hotels.com or rabbit or expedia. For the same price you would NOT pay $800 AND you would have clean, healthier rooms/ building AND customer service on site. We did report quite a few MORE things and took pictures and did send them to Vacasa but no type of compensation for any of the inconveniences. One of the replies were, "I  have reached out to the local staff for your concern. Rest assured that this will be rectified." We assure readers- a day after the trip this had NOT been rectified. I'll start it with this.....you get what you pay for. Finding a room in Waikiki at or below $100 looks like a good deal....until you realize why the price is that low. I booked this place through Expedia. What went right: + The View!! Amazing! Pic is from the 36th floor + Kitchen with stove and utensils. Good if you are here for a while. No so much: - The check in process. Even after booking the place you have to fill out more forms and send it back for approval. Found out it was needed when I got there. I was in a time crunch and needed to be somewhere. 10 min delay... - No parking. It's advertised that Parking is available but you have to reserve it way in advance. I had to park a block away. - No front desk. You pick up your room key fob from a lock box. - Only one of two elevators are working. My longest wait for an elevator- 10 mins. No warning from the hotel when you book the room. - Dirty Towels. If they bleach can't get rid of it throw it away. See pic. 2.5 stars Rounded down to 2. We were a bit skittish after reading the reviews here on yelp, however after a week's stay we both discussed how the yelp reviews were absolutely not accurate!!! If I could give this zero stars I would. NEVER STAY HERE! This building is an absolute dirty slum! We arrived and they gave us the wrong room with not enough beds for all of us to sleep. They only have one elevator works. That one elevator breaks constantly! the shady slum lords expect their residents to climb the stairs. There is 40 floors! As we were climbing 9 flights to get our stuff 7-10 firefighters were running up the stairs to the 34th floor trying to save someone! Poor firefighters. This is a review of the property itself. Entrance can be missed if your not careful. It is a self check in, I never saw a front desk host but we didn't need them. Area is convenient The absolute worst thing about this property is the elevators. Only 1 works, don't let the owners convince you otherwise. The one that does work is very slow and small. When there are high winds they will stop the elevators and you will have to walk up to your room. Sometimes the elevators are full even if you do get one and you will have to wait anyways. I saw a big group family check in on our last day with elderly family and a baby and felt bad for them in case the elevators would stop. I hoped they got a refund and went to The Prince Hotel across the way where it looked like the elevators never stopped. Fire stairwell dark and hot. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. You don't need that stress on your vacation. read more

The clerk sits outside with a clipboard to check you into your room. -you must pay a $25 valet fee to park overnight -We were told we would have an ocean view.. out view is of literal garbage at eye level on the building in next to us that is almost completely blocking our view of the ocean. -rooms are extremely outdated with broken fixtures. -We immediately went back down to complain and were told that we could leave but would have to drive back tomorrow to try and receive a refund and that although we didn't spend more than 5 mins in the room we would not be garunteed a refund. read more

The view was beautiful, but upon check-in it was done in the parking garage, they had a park bench with a roll-a-Dex with hand written information. The $200 deposit was explained as a hold on the credit card not a charge right away, so that was misguided information. Once we got to the elevator only one was working, the stopped before our floor and froze. Had to walk up several flights to get to our room (which was ok but had a child and suitcase). Got to our room and the key would not work until after several minutes. Once we got into our room and the bathroom was dirty towels were stained and when requested new ones they wanted to charge us for more. Cleanliness is not their first priority. Elevators still are not working. It started out horrible, but we have had lots of laughs but would not recommend this place read more

Not sure where to start. Im from Hawaii and my experience in this hotel was the worst. DO NOT STAY HERE!! First, this is a review of the physical hotel itself. The ladies who helped me were very nice and responsive. Some context. I was the on business and given a room on the 32nd floor. There are 4 studio rooms on each floor. Super tiny and not recommended if you have problems with tight spaces. Bottom line....this hotel is OLD and poorly maintained. There is one elevator working and the other is out for maintenence. Ive ridden in helicoptes and jets before with no peoblem. The one working elevator scared the shit out of me each time i rode it. It was the size of a coffin and shook and squeeked. The door slammed each time it closed. To make it wost, you are outside the building with a glass window. Each time I went up to my room I felt like Charlie on the last seen of Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory when the elevator shoots out of the factory. Oh, forgot to mention. Because of the one working elevator for 30 floors, the average wait time is 40 min during peak time. Other than the 1st floor, there are no floor indicators on the upper floors. So you have no way of telling where the elvator is. You just sit and wait. I walked down 32 flight once and started leaving the hotel at 5 am to make sure i got out on time. The room! One word "condemned." The bathroom was distgusting. I ended up showering at the base gym where I spent the day. There was mold and mildew over the whole shower. The toilet was stained and would run all night. The toilet paper holder busted. The counter tops were water damaged and had mold. The cabinets made of plywood. The floor in the room was slanted. There was a short in the light switch and I had to jiggle it to make it work. The cabinets were rusted. The room smelled damp and musty. The pictures i am attaching do not capture everything but hopefully it will convince you that if you are traveling to Oahu, there are better places to stay. Do not waste your time here. Only one elevator working and room is dirty. Only good thing about our trip was the view. Some of us who were on the elevator thought we would drop to our death because it was jerking. They mentioned to waive our resort fee but they didn't. No front desk and no immediate help. Many things went wrong during our stay here. Prices at $150 per night through an AirBnb rental, our 17th floor unit was very small, in need of some maintenance, and not the cleanest place. And then there is the rest of the building, which is described quite accurately in many of the 1- and 2- star reviews here. Specifically, the listing we booked did not accurately list the elevator issue and with My recently injured foot/leg, the stairs caused me to actually aggravate the torn tendon. Additionally, we requested an adjustment to our accidentally booked last day, which ended up not having any water (The building shut down all water from 9am-4pm). So no shower or refresh before getting on 14 hours of plane travel. Finally, both the major and minor maintenance issues throughout the condo and building where just too much (the towel bar fell down, the shower curtain rod was not properly attached, the bathroom was not properly clean). Although we shared our concerns throughout our stay, were met with excuses instead of solutions or offers of reimbursements for the inconveniences, or even an apology. Good luck staying here - it is best for folks that don't mind walking 20 flights of stairs and can live with just about any condition. read more

Came to visit my sister while she staying at this place and it was very very dirty! She has small children and it had exposed wires and a outlet that was popping off the wall and there was MOLD growing on the shower wall and dust built up on the wires where the TV and icebox was plugged. When we pulled back the sheets there was a part of someone's false eyelashes which made me feel as if they just dusted off the bed and remade it with the same sheets and btw which looked old and worn out. Make sure you know what to expect before booking this place. Check in is with some lady who sits in the rest area table under the parking garage near the handicap spots. If you are unsure who to see, you can ask the bell boys at equus since they are more obvious. Right now the elevators are undergoing maintenance so the wait to get it or out of the building can be a bit long at times [about 20 min]. While we were there only 1 elevator was working. This will continue into 2019. Since the building is pretty intimate with just 4 units per floors the elevator is quite snug. Be prepared to be packed in with other residents in the elevator. I recommend facing the elevator outside view if you have any sort of claustrophobia. The room itself is an absolute steal. The view is stunning and the included kitchenette is really ideal for heating up and storing leftovers. I think i paid less than 130 a night, and thats really great for Waikiki. It is definitely outdated, but like what they mentioned in other reviews the feel makes you feel like a true resident that has been there for decades. Parking is an extra 25-30 per night. It's done as valet through equus. There is only one valet so that can be a wait too. Check in is 4pm but if you are there early you can check in your bags to the valet/bag boy at equus. That was pretty neat they offered that. [Not advertised, I had to call the hotel to ask] The location is wonderful. You are next to shops, food, ala moana park, mall, beach, and pier. 4.5 stars on the location. Overall, I recommend staying at this hotel if you dont have auto transportation, want to be within walking distance of all the spots, are on a budget and Lastly, and most importantly, if you are going to stay here before the end of 2019, be aware of the elevator situation and please don't stay here if you want to be in and out of the place multiple times a day. SIDE NOTE: BE PREPARED FOR THE WORST, so you will be thankful if it doesn't happen and you can be prepared for when it does happen. Our last night in Waikiki we decided to load up on the boxed chocolates to give as gifts back home. My husband and I had both our hands full of bags full of souvenirs. We returned to our hotel around 1230 midnight and when we arrived to the front entrance security notified us of the out of order elevators. BOTH. We had to walk up 28 flights of stairs [there are 40 total] with our hands filled with heavy bags late at night. Boy we had a night ahead of us. After the first 5 flights we had to get a breathe of fresh air at the parking garage roof. The stairway gets easily muggy especially after a little drizzle. 23 more flights later we made it. Sweaty and chocolate gifts in hand we made it. Time to rest up and catch our flights early in the morning. 430 am. The fire alarm goes off. Like a real one. How would this even work? 28 flights and one tight air locked stairwell? We decided to ignore it and concluded it was someone who just pulled it because they were angry for having to climb stairs at that hour. 454 am. Fire alarm part dos. Are we safe? Are we going to have to walk down all these stairs for a false alarm. The only other way out was through the window. That gives you some perspective. 6am. We lived. We ignored the alarms and despite hearing our neighbors evacuate their rooms we stayed in for a few more moments of shut eye. I figured if more than 1 firetruck was on site then it would be serious. And they would announce on the megaphone or something for us to evacuate. Close gamble. We probably shouldn't have done that bit we were done with the BS. 7am. Departure. The elevators still didnt work so we stretched and gave each other a prep talk before braving the 28 sets of stairs with heavy luggage filled with souvenirs in hand. After about 10 flights we noticed the stairs were wet. I guess the sprinklers went off because the remainder of our journey out of there was very slippery. 715. After our emancipation from Marina tower's version of the underground railroad we filled our lungs with fresh air. I have never been so thankfuk for fresh air. Mind you we were very intent and focus on getting the hell out of there asap. 15 min.. not bad..I'd like to flex on that one. Anyways, we survived and we're alive. We got a story to tell. SHITHOLE warning! One elevator in service. We were NOT informed prior to arrival. Apparently it's been going on for a while...climbing 27 floors in a confined muggy space with luggage is AWFUL... We got locked out of our room due to the keys being demagnetized, so I called the number on the sheet of paper provided, and left a message....no one EVER returned my call. Thankfully my boyfriend got the attention of a worker there and they helped us out. Ridiculous The unit we had presumably was a hotel owned (there are individual owners as well) had no fitted sheet or pillowcases. The pillows provided were so very thin and didn't offer any extras. The "cleaning" that is included in the room rate (once a week) didn't clean...they kept the dirty towels, gave us new ones, took out the trash and made the bed. Being in Hawaii near a beach, we dragged sand in our shoes the floors were not swept or vacuumed, nor was anything wiped down and sanitized. The windows open all the way, and if for some reason you can fall out the window (it does have a ledge but ya never know!) there are 40 floors so easy to be dangerous. The check in they hold an extra $200 deposit, on top of the hotel fees. Pros are location is good and the ocean view is good. Other than that, spend your money elsewhere... Sorry to anyone who lives in the building, they decorate etc on their own, but as far as what we got...disgraceful read more

Both my colleague and I had the same experience when booking this hotel: Saw tons of great reviews, booked, then when it got closer, suddenly encountered hundreds of terrible reviews. Believe the terrible ones! Our first clue should have been when our cab driver from the airport had never heard of it. Our second clue should have been when we had to check in at a DIFFERENT hotel (you check in at the Equus). And our third clue should have been the confusion over whether or not people actually can/do live here year round. Then we should have known. We knew when we got to the "suite" we had booked-- and it was just a single, bizarrely shaped room with a baffling crawlspace beneath the window. We knew when the air conditioner could not control temperature at all and was so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak over it. We knew when the light in the shower sounded like a swarm of bees was dying inside it. It's weird-- you recognize all the things from the photos you've seen, but everything is just slightly off enough that you know you're in for trouble. And the bad reviews are all accurate: the elevators break all the time (at least three times during our weeklong stay), there are little fruit flies everywhere, the parking is expensive. There are some redeeming factors: the hot tub is really nice, the pool is heated comfortably. The location is hell of convenient to the Convention Center. It got the job done. But it's the kind of place we'll be recalling with some incredulity for years to come! read more

Probably the worst part of my Hawaiian vacation. I had to climb 37 flights of stairs because the elevators were broken. We were not told of this until we actually arrived. They refused to give us any towels and the worst part of this was the fact that there were dirty towels left from the previous guests. Front desk lady blew us off the moment I asked how long until we could use the elevator. They also had the nerve to charge us an extra $200 for "hotel fees" I want to let the owners know and I hope they read this that I've filed a legal complaint with the FTC and DCCA so be prepared. First of all looking for this hotel was a bit confusing you had to check in through another hotel which made the wait a tad bit long. Staff is real great and friendly. The pool and tennis has court is nice didn't get to swim though. Going into the room nice view, loved the kitchenette and it also had everything needed which was very handy. Had a flat screen tv to the wall so it wasn't so bad afterwards. The view from the floor was very beautiful watching the sun go down and watching the sunrise was a bit nice out. Bad things are the AC was a bit loud it's very disturbing when your trying to sleep at peace and the dang AC makes louder noise then the tv they should really fix it and one more thing there was noise in the bathroom all these noises just mad the stay a bit hard to relax in. If I came I would again and had the same problem with the AC I would definitely ask for another room because it's extremely loud. I would recommend this hotel to a friend if they were just to rest or chill it's near Ala moana so very convenient. read more

I can't even begin to lie and say that the views from this hotel, if you can really call it that, were not very nice, because they were, but that is all they have to offer. I checked in late Sunday night after performing my best man duties fro my two best friends wedding at Secret Beach and attending a luau at Paradise Cove. The first red flag should have been all the trick photography, my friends showed after we had to book a last minute room for me. The next re flag should have been the fact that there is no such location. This place is more condos, than it is a hotel and some of the "rooms" they show are of condos that are rented by the owners of each condo, not the so called hotel. Check in is crazy, because there is no check in desk for this location. You must check in at another hotel, which means lugging your bags up a flight of stairs, then back down to the very back of the lot. You're handed a door clicker that looks like a car alarm device. It was late and I was tired, but there was only one elevator working with 11 people waiting in front of me. This is when i learned that these people lived in the building and they were more than happy to give me all the dirt on the place. Like "bed bugs" "mice" and having to wait long periods of time for the elevators. They even warned me about flooding. I waited 15 minutes before I was finally able to get on the elevator to the 35 floor. When I walked into the rood it was hot as hell, so right away I looked for the air conditioner, I was shocked to see the old school square, accordion style unit mounted with wood in the corner of the window. I turned it on and right away I saw the light that says "service filter" come on. After 45 minutes at the lowest setting, the room was still like a sauna. The toilet in the bathroom was filled with water and had human waste in it. I called the front desk and I was told it would be taken care of in the morning. There was only one towel in the room. The bed was horrible, I could feel every single coil and wire in it. It was like sleeping on two stacked box springs. There were no cover on the bed, just sheets and no cover were located in the room The next morning when "house keeping finally arrived they acted surprised that someone was in the room, telling me that were told i was moved to another room. This is when I called the front desk (other hotel) again. That was yet another problem. In most hotels you simply dial the front desk by pressing 0, but here I had to make a phone call. Again I was told it would be taken care of. By the time I came back from a full day of exploring the counter was filled with water and the floor was soaked. the toilet had once again overflowed, but this time the wall had water running down it. You could actually here the water collecting and dripping in the space above the toilet. The shower only gave nearly cold water and again there were no toiletries left in the room. However there were plenty of towels which I had to use to soak up all the water on the floors. By morning water was leaking from the ceiling in the main room and running down the counter near the microwave which also did not work and seeping from behind the mirror. Calling the front desk was no longer an option because now the phone in the room did not work. I called my friends Tina and Andy who stayed at the Prince across the street and told them what was happening. I checked out two hours early to join them in their AWESOME hotel. This place is a complete dive, the hotel manager would not come to the front desk to speak with me and they refused to give me a check out receipt. One of the guys was in such a hurry to get me out so others could not hear my complaints, but two couples checking in asked me and I was all too happy to tell and show them what took place my two nights. This is so far the WORST hotel I've stayed ever. Next time if I am coming to Hawaii, I am going camping. Hmm, where to start: 1. The booking is easy, and when you got off your 6 hours flight, they won't even let you in until 4pm and there is no receptionist desk, there is a security stall outside of the building, they don't check anything, only asking for your credit card. 2. The elevator going up is basically a disaster, only one out of two is working and it serves from the ground to 40 some floor, you wait for a good 20mins if you are not lucky and found out you can't even get in cuz it's a tiny elevator packed with people. 3. When you get to your floor and it's this super tight hallway, you have all your hands carrying stuff, then you find out, great! Your card key won't work.Some kind neighbor tried to help and apparently, this happens A LOT. You called the only number they gave you cuz there is no F* check-in desk, and they told you to get your A*S downstairs to get your new card keys. 4. When you finally fight your way to the room, the AC is on and the filter clean light is BRIGHT RED. The whole room smells like someone just peed in it. And of course you called and they told you no you can't switch room and you'll wait until tomorrow to get your AC filter changed. Well, your nightmare is just getting started. 5. The next day, you got back, the key won't work again, you called, and the ask you go come down again. Fine. You got the so-called NEW card key, finally made back to your floor, guess what, they won't work! You started to doubt yourself, did I put them together with my phone? No I didn't. And you call, they YELL at you "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THE KEYS!!" and slam the phone, storm upstairs, finally get your door opened. 6. And the filter is still NOT CHANGED! The room smelled like PISS! You stopped the lady who just yelled at you and storming her way down and she won't even reply. You called, they simply said, "I don't know what happened why it's not replaced". Wait a minute, you don't know?! That's your F* JOB! And they said tomorrow morning 8 - 8:30 am to get your filter changed. 7. You stayed at your hotel the next morning calling them from 8:00-9:30am and it turned out they don't even pick up the phone before 10:30am, if you did call the other number to get someone pick up the phone they direct you to the same number that will YELL AT you if you call. 8. Finally, you got someone who said that they'll replace the filter around 11am and you are just so naive to think that they won't get you anymore. Then you got back the AC is set at 60F and you can't change, then only thing you can do is to unplug it. Yes, the filter is replaced, however, you still can't use it unless you want to freeze to death. 9. The next morning, you found out they charged you $100+ more without your notification or authorization. 10. I didn't even mention other things, like there is no room service under 7 days, you need to get your own refill of things, the room is GROSS, they charge you extra fees upon your arrival, etc. I am glad that this is my last day here, it pretty much ruined this trip. I sincerely hope they go out of business and please please, do yourself a favor, never ever book this SH*T place. read more

I wish I could rate this ZERO, absolutely disgraceful. The place is dirty, rundown and in need of major repairs. There is no check in counter instead a lady turns up at 3 pm at the front door in the car park, gets your credit card details and hands you the room keys. There is only 1 lift working as the second one is under repair, and will not be in repaired until 2019, as the sign on the lift stated and can take up to 45 min to get to your floor, again as the sign stated. When we finally got to our room the key would not work so back we go down stairs to get a new key, this time there was another lady lounging in the car park checkin very unprofessional and was not helpful at all.There were 3 other people waiting for the same reason.Finally a lady appeared from the building next door with the room keys. When we finally settled everything and got into the room, it was terrible, it smelt, there were stains on the walls the floors and the ceiling, the bed was very uncomfortable and the fibers were piercing out of the mattress. The bathroom was disgusting and the shower tiles were full of soap scum, and there was a hole in the wall, where something once belonged but rusted off. This place is so out dated and needs to be modernized. Don't be fooled and stay at this horrid place. read more

I can't believe they didn't let us know that the elevators would be out of service. Every day for a couple hours at different times they would just stop working. This was scheduled maintenance, not emergency service. If we knew that the elevators would be offline from 7-9 we would have brought our bags down before they started work. That would have been better than nearly missing a flight from carrying all our luggage down 30+ flights of stairs. Someone with kids, elderly, or trouble walking would have had their vacation ruined. It's a nice view but they are greedy and sneaky to not tell you up front that for a lot of the stay you'll have to walk up to your room. read more

We stayed here October 2014 in a vacation rental for one week. The room was mostly as advertised. By far the best thing about the room was the view of the ocean. Everything else was lackluster but the worst part was easily the elevator. One elevator was broken the entire time which left one elevator to service 40 floors. That other elevator kept breaking and even when it was operating, it felt like you were living a nightmare. It shook and clanked the entire journey up and down so you felt lucky when you made it safely to your destination. On one of the precarious trips down in the semi-functional elevator a mother and her adult daughter joined us and I thought the daughter was going to pass out from a panic attack on the way down. It really was that bad. On our first night, we had to walk up 36 flights of stairs while carrying perishable grocery items. We then had the privilege to walk back down all 36 flights of stairs to leave late the next morning. We ended up switching to a different hotel (that had working elevators and more than 2 for 40 floors) and that turned our vacation around. It was bad enough that the vacation rental office gave us a full refund for the days we did not stay due to the unsafe conditions. Yes, it is cheap. First of all, this is NOT a hotel. These are individually owned Condos. Our Condo was very clean and quaint. Stocked with all the towels and bedding my family of four needed as well as a fully furnished kitchenette and a great view of the marina from the 26th floor. I am writing this review now waking up on our second day here. This is where the nice ends and the horror begins. Only one of the two elevators are "working". I use that term very loosely as the operational one was down part of both our first two days. And we were told BOTH would be down for three days after the weekend. Lucky for us we are leaving tomorrow morning. I've spoke with several of the owners, who all are overly frustrated. Many who would like nothing other than to sell out and run. Even though our unit was nice, it is up to the individual owner on how its set up....not the management downstairs. We will not be back to this property. read more

My family and I stayed at the Marina Tower Waikiki, Dec. 28, 2018 to Jan. 2, 2019. Their elevators were out of service for the duration of our stay. Our room was on the 21st floor, necessitating our use of the stairwell. The only concession they offered us was a refund of the resort fee, $15 per day. I can't clearly describe how awful this situation was. Spending the day in the hot Hawaiian sun. Coming back in the late afternoon to face climbing 21 floors. Arriving in our room out of breath and sweating profusely. Those stairs were like torture and put a serious damper on an otherwise great vacation. The stairwell was narrow and had poor ventilation, and used by many people at once, creating an unsafe situation. Every person we spoke with was extremely upset. Not a single person said that climbing the stairs of a high-rise tower was how they wanted to spend their vacation. The building is 35 stories tall. I called the desk, asking for fresh towels. The person who answered said, "Sure, I'll get you some towels. Meet me in the lobby." Even their own staff wouldn't climb the stairs! Our room was never cleaned by housekeeping, and they never offered to clean our room. Management could have, a) offered to help us find another hotel, or b) knocked off a substantial part of the rate, $50 per day; or better yet, refunded us half of the total cost. I wish I could give less than one star. The building maintenance is terrible, it's a 40 floor building with 2 elevators. One has been down over a month causing 40min elevator waits and both have been down for 2 weeks forcing visitors to climb hundreds of stairs. Staff is unhelpful and service terrible. Don't stay here, choose any place else, seriously you would be better off sleeping in a box on the beach. read more

I would give one star mainly because of these two big reasons. First, The book/reservation staff is not friendly at all. The way she talked,she sound so sarcastic. She was in a rush when explaining things on that paper she gave us. Customer service should always be considered no matter what. Second, The Room. It was gloomy, there were roaches, drapes and curtain are old and dirty. There's only one elevator that's functioning plus, their valet parking is $25/day. What the heck. If i could guve 0 stars i would. This place is literally a disaster. I dont understand how this hotel is still open. Cleanliness and safety was my major concern. There is no front desk/lobby. You have to call and look for a security to be able to check in the hotel. The elevator- there is no certificate of the last maintenance. My toddler and i literally felt the elevator drop. Super scary and unsafe. There is only a sign that says it is undergoi g maintenance until 2019. Ive heard rumors that this sign has been up since 2008. Sanitation of the room- there are unknown stains that look like large wet spots on the top of the ceiling, on all the furniture, and all over the floor. The furniture looks like theybe been there since the 1980s and have never been cleaned nor maintained. There aint even a fitted sheet on the bed. My daughter found deAd cockroaches in the corner of the room amd under the bed. Sanitation of the kitchen- there is rust around the stove. There is a knife block. I took a knife out of the knife block and 3 cockroach came crawling out. The refrigerator was broken. Sanitation of the bathroom- between all the cracks on the floors and tiles of the bathroom was either black or brown. The cocking was all broken. The drain of the shower was rusted. The shower head was brown and water only came out through some of the holes. Air conditioning was set on the coldest setting and stayed on all day and night and temp stayed a little under room temp. The air conditioning was definately broken Housekeeping - apparently this does not existg even with our 2 week stay The lock on the door was broken. I had to play with the lock in order to secvure the room was lock upon leaving the room All in all terrible. If i knew what numbers or who to complain to i would. ****PLEASE READ**** I'm not a professional reviewer, and this is my first review ever but this place really needed my review. It will save your vacation, health, and possibly your life. I traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii for my birthday the week of 09/22/19 through 09/27/19 with my girlfriend. We booked our flight and hotel package through a website and were scheduled to stay at The Marina Tower Waikiki for our 5 night stay at beautiful Hawaii. Once we were checked in through a lock box instead of an actual front desk (which was weird but the LEAST of our worries), we made our way to the room. We waited for the elevator approximately 15-20 minutes, and to our first surprise, we learned only one of the two elevators were working. Upon entering the room there was a strong pungent smell of mold/mildew. I understand we're by the beach and sometimes it might get humid but that's no reason for the room to smell the way it did. As I lay my bags on the carpet, I noticed that the carpet was full of stains and seemed as if it had not been thoroughly vacuumed in a while. Small debris everywhere. Tired from my trip, I still did not pay any mind to the room until I decided to lay in the bed to rest. The mattress seemed as if it was from 1999. My body sunk all the way in and the springs dug into my body. It was the worst bed I have ever laid in. Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to inspect the bed. I pulled back the covers and saw specs of sand on top of the mattress! It was at this time that I decided to pay attention to the room we have been designated to spend our whole vacation. I walked into the bathroom and right away when I turned the light on it made a screeching sound. No idea if it was faulty wire, bad electrical current, but my concern is that the sound came from the light right above the shower. The towels were stained, and one of them had a clump of hair stuck in it. The walls were covered in hair. We decided we were not going to stay in this room given the fact that the website for the hotel gives a whole different perspective to how the room should actually look. Given the time of day and being tired from our travels we had no choice but to spend the night in the room until we can talk to someone in the morning about the situation. After some phone calls and text messages to Hotel staff we were able to get a room change. It was a major difference but the towels were still stained/dirty, there was blue painters tape on the light fixtures in the restroom, and what I thought was a safety concern in both rooms is that the windows could open fully with no guard rails to protect you from danger. We moved our belongings to the new room and decided to go out for the day and enjoy beautiful Hawaii and forget about our problems. We waited a short time for the elevator and when it came to our floor the doors opened and the elevator maintenance man was inside of it. He greeted us and asked us to come in. There were 3 other floors he was stoping at before the parking garage to "Grease up the door hinges." When the elevator stopped at the 18th floor, the door didn't open. The maintenance worker's expression said it all, "Aww crap" He attempted several times to manually open the door but was unable to get the door open. Even asking me for help which still had no success. He apologized and proceeded to explain to us that the elevators were really old and needed A Lot of work. He mentioned the hotel was in the process of replacing the elevators but it was a job that would take years to complete. He had to call his co worker to come rescue us. We waited almost 50 minutes in the hot elevator, with minimal ventilation, on the 18th floor, till his co worker arrived. We were hungry, thirsty and above all furious! We walked down the 18 flights of stairs to leave that death trap. Not to mention we had to walk up and down 21 flights of stairs on our way back in order to avoid getting stuck once again. We were fortunate enough to have made the right phone calls and talk to the right people who got us away from the hotel with minimal monetary damage and we booked a new room at another hotel for the rest of our stay in Hawaii. Do yourself a favor and avoid this hotel at all costs. read more

Parking is great. Elevators, only two, seem to be down or out of service. Fortunately, we were on a lower floor. So walking down was easier. We truly felt sorry for those on higher floors. So if you have a Handicap. You might want to consider another building. Even a realtor of 17 years commented on this building's elevator history. read more

Don't stay here...you will think Waikiki is a trash place. The rooms looked like out of an old abandoned Inn somewhere far out in the bush or along a dusty road to nowhere. No proper reception and pretty rude 'receptionist'. The wait for the elevator was 45 min and I had to walk the stairs up and down to 23rd floor - I actually booked this place Via a travel sight by mistake mixing it up with the name of another hotel with a similar name. I would rate this place a zero if I could....meaning that it is NOT better than nothing. Sleeping outside would be better, and cleaner. The whole building is in need of repairs. Nothing worked....TV, air conditioner, hair dryer, lamp, shower, safe, the place was the worst place that I have ever stayed. I hope that I don't get sick from spending one night there. Seriously. If you can avoid this place. One out of two elevators work and the one is always packed. You literally wait 10 to 20 minutes for the elevator then it would be to full to get on. The washers and dryers are always off line. The rooms have good views but other then that they're not great. read more

This is our worst experience ever say. I highly recommend not to stay in MARINA TOWER WAIKIKI. Rooms are dirty, smells like hell. First of all, I booked this place through airbnb.com. There was no disclosure that this place is in fact a bunch of poorly-maintained hotel rooms from Equus. This is a blatant abuse of the website. I am filing a complaint as we speak. But that is a story for another day. After we parked our car, we went 32 floors up the world's scariest elevator. The elevator is *outside* the tower! (This must have been a fad back in the day, because several buildings have the elevator outside.) Hawaii is notorious for extreme tradewinds, and you can feel the elevator sway with every gust. (In fact, I could feel the whole building move at times.) With the elevator being outside, there is no escape if the elevator gets stuck. (Scary thought.) Once we opened the door to the room, my jaw dropped. The room looked like it hadn't been updated since the Nixon administration. The basic layout of the room is bizarre--most notable feature is a large recess under the panoramic window, which is an inaccessible waste of space. Also, the windows slide open *completely* so that you could (theoretically) go out onto the unsecured ledge. Probably not an issue for most, but I wouldn't feel comfortable with children staying in the room. Any of this could be forgiven if the room were in decent shape, but, alas, the room looked like it belonged in post-war Kosovo. Even the basics weren't done right-- there was no base board on any of the walls, and the carpet wasn't tacked down. There is a stand-alone shower (no tub) that has no shower door. All there is is a poorly-fitting curtain that spans the space where the door should be. As a result, there is an area along the sides of the curtain that allows water to escape, which it will, since it is right where the water hits your body. The most disturbing damage was a hole in the ceiling *directly* above the toilet! (Peephole, or plumbing leak--I don't want to sit on it!) Oddly, the room included some amenities that most hotels in the area don't: a good-sized refrigerator, a microwave, a stove-top, free wifi, and some beach gear. As nice as this was, I cannot get past the state of disrepair that the room was in. Cleanliness is king in a hotel room. If the room isn't clean and well-maintained, I do not care what else it has to offer. read more

This is a decent hotel right in Waikiki - just a few blocks from the beach. Pros: -the views are nice if you get a decent room facing the ocean -it's close to shops, restaurants, the beach. -decent price -online booking through Priceline, etc. Cons: -there is always at least one elevator that is not working -the housekeeping is decent at best -the water temperature in the shower is extremely sensitive (cold one second and HOT the next) -no free parking (although if you're patient and smart, you'll find some around the block - just gotta keep sharking) Bottom line, I'd stay here again - because honestly I'm not looking for a hotel that's so nice I never want to leave. For me, a hotel just needs to be a clean place for me to sleep and shower. The real vacation is outside of the hotel! read more

Hotel was booked for free after attending time share presentation. The place looked nice on the outside but I knew something was terribly wrong when we had to check outside in the parking out. Room looked like a cheap motel 6. Two twin beds where out together to make a queen. The bed would split while sleeping. No house keeper, no trash can in room. Beds only Had a thin sheet to keep us warm. Pillows were so hard and uncomfortable. The bed was even harder. You can feel the mattress springs. Elevator never worked. When it si we had to wait 20-30 mins. Sometimes it was just faster to walk up the 20 flights of stairs then wait and risk the elevator being too full to fit in. Pool was tiny. Parking was expensive $30 a night. You are given two towels. No new towels. They did have microwave and refrigerator and sink. The only good thing about the entire stay. T.v also would loose single And it would be out for hours.overall I wish I would have paid then to stay here. read more
