Crummy little shoes - bring your own!
    Joseph K.

You have to know what you're getting into with this place. To begin with the overall property is very secure. They are built into an office building but the hotel area can only be accessed by a personally signed four digit code. The locker facilities are similarly secured, to begin with you have to use your code to access the locker room and then you have to use a combination code to get into the locker. The shared shower and toilet facilities were fine, but I found it a bit frustrating that there was almost no shelving space within the shower for my soap and razor. The water pressure was good and that helped. The toilets have washlet features which appeal to their target travelers from Japan. I had a business class pod which was reasonably comfortable, they have plenty of signage reminding you that you're in a shared space and to keep noise to a minimum. It was nice to have a smart TV that I could use to access Netflix, YouTube, etc. Bear in mind that you're going to need Bluetooth headphones to be able to hear your television. I found that my Apple AirPod Max headphones fit the bill very well. I'm 6 foot two, and I found that the pod was long enough for me to lay comfortably in the bed. I did have to get a second pillow, but the front desk took care of that quickly enough. I was pleased to be given a fresh towel upon my return the first day. They make it a rule that you have to have something on your feet at all times, and provide crummy little paper shoes for people to wear. I would strongly advise bringing crocs or slippers with you when you stay here. Overall this place succeeds at what they set out to do, but I don't think I would be inclined to stay here again personally.

It's dirty. The fridge was full of mess & the employees working there were unprofessional at answering to requests. Inside the lobby, there was a female guest who was recording people without permission with a GoPro she had dreadlocks and was wearing a one love one peace one world Jamaican shirt while on a trip to Hawaii she was very obnoxious and I complained to the staff about her and they did absolutely nothing to get rid of her atrocious behavior. I do not have pictures but I was here recently on a business trip. I will not book here again after the terrible customer service. The microwave also was unclean. There are no guest pools as well. It's a shame because it's in the corner of a really good business plaza in Waikiki. No wonder the bouncers at that area suck at their jobs.

Had some issues while in town so I saw this place and decided to book it. At first I was like these pictures look good to be true on Google and booking.com. However I was wrong! This place is super nice and clean! It literally is like the hotel pods in Asia! Super comfy and affordable. The staff was super helpful. The manager is really nice. I'm visiting from Cali so this place definitely made me like like I was at home. There's a male hall and female hall and a unisex hall. I stayed in the unisex which is co-ed sleeping rooms. I have no complaints. I'm here for a total of 4 days and the best thing is right by the beach and on the strip of Waikiki. Overall I would recommend this place for solo travelers it's super comfy, nice and affordable

12/31/2025, while I occupied a capsule(First class only bcuz 6'1", and climbing in and out of a bunk was ridiculous) == My honest thoughts 1) if you are here for a night or 2 (in my case) and exploring the city of waikiki, a room to jus lay your head is all that I needed. == Needs to be addressed, -First Class room for ppl that want to stand, its a basic rm (NGL no luggage space) if you are closet phobic (this is not for the luxury ppl) -Kitchen (basic amenities (community refrig, micro, water (dispenser), ice dispenser - Bath (dormitory style enclosed showers) body wash/shampoo/conditioner provided (I brought my own ) hairdryer, flatiron, cotton swabs -Washer/Dryer its available (did not use to review) -Checkin 3pm (Firm early avail at cost) -Checkout 10am (Firm) == What I liked about it, it was close to walk to Waikiki beach just to watch the fireworks -Shop to your hearts content -Food/Snacks Target across the street Royal Hawaiian Center - breakfast far/near on kuhio ave., == would I stay here again maybe the price paid was absolutely not your "luxury or upscale" hotel. Personally I would have chosen otherwise. Ie a luxury hotel like $200 plus per night. === its a personal choice, for myself it was a choice with the holidays room rates where through the roof, thus for a night of fun, sleep was just okay. If you are on a budget, yes recommended. If you like a hotel setting this place may not be a choice when booking. ==booking process, I did a google hotel search on prices below what I wanted to spend, and went through website direct, and asked a ton of questions. I was given 7 says prior to arrival to fully cancel, on day or arrival was charged to correct room rTe quoted, and charged a separate "security deposit" on arrival day. Needed to pre check before checkin time, and waited til 3pm. (Secured luggage storage available) if you are a early riser )need that caffeine " shop for your coffee before your fun begin. Some stores closes about 10p to 11p. I believe breakfast on kuhio is about 6:30am == rentals for beach activities are everywhere (check prices on your length of stay, rental is much higher than Id remember. Theirs always walmart but you would have to pack that when you leave. Waikiki prices are for those that want items, but expect to pay... == security, your own access in and out, pods have an indoor lock from the inside, not totally sealed you hear neighbors, its an according style door opening at the top and bottom..(just sayin) == well that my review, hope this helps.. happy travels

The Banyan Wing is the original Victorian-era building which is listed on National Historic Registry and houses the main lobby and restaurant. The number of guests and visitor who circulate through this property daily is incredible. Including the Tower and Surfrider Wings, it has 791 rooms. Our Tower room had a great covered patio with incredible views of Waikiki and Diamond Head. We spent a lot of time on the patio watching the surfers, catamarans, and enjoying the island breeze. Our balcony was spectacular :o Our room was updated and very comfortable. I understand the owners completed a full renovation of all rooms in 2026. The beach bar is one of the best in the world. Cold cocktails, beer and wine. Good service. Great views! The drawbacks.... The pool is small and very crowded, especially for 791 rooms. With that said everyone in the pool was smiling and having fun. The beach is also pretty small for such a massive hotel. At high tide the hotel only has about 30 feet of beachfront and it is a public beach so it is crowded Rio style. For us this was not a drawback as we love Waikiki, the birthplace of Hawaiian surfing, and spend most of our time in the surf. Hawaii and Waikiki is one of the few places that completely lives us to the hype year after year and generation after generation. We can't wait to return. Aloha & Mahalo

After visiting and eating at this resort in years past, we were excited about the opportunity to…read moreactually stay here. So much history as shown throughout the resort especially on the second floor, but also the open Victorian architecture which presents a relaxing atmosphere. Our friends thought we were "rich" for being able to stay here but I don't recall the prices being too different than other hotels in the area. We also got a great offering through the American Express card. We arrived on island early afternoon and attempted to stay up as late as possible. However, we were given a room on the second floor of the historic side of the hotel where they host events on the patio area outside our room. While we were trying to sleep at 8-9pm, a festive wedding was going on with their DJ blasting music, people dancing, yelling, the DJ trying to motivate the audience, etc. It was not a fun night as my wife complained to the hotel staff about the noise interfering with our ability to sleep. It's not the fact the wedding was occuring, but rather the fact the hotel staff didn't let us know they were putting us next to the hotel night club of sorts. Hawaii is typically laid back and quiet, which this was not. The hotel staff sympathisized and mentioned the wedding would be finished by 10pm which it was, and tried to make things better. On day 3 around 4am, the hotel fire alarm sounded and advised everyone to vacate the building. When we vacated, we learned it was a false alarm. This was our last day at the Moana Surfrider which we assumed was a sign the resort wasn't meant to be a relaxing experience for us. The hotel has activities associated with the resort fee such as yoga, that we registered for. It was my first time doing yoga despite mention by my wife over the years to do it. I figured it would be a pleasant surprise for her if I signed us up, and it was a great class out on the same patio area as the wedding. I won't say it was fun for me, but it was an experience that we both enjoyed. The room itself was small which I assume is because it was part of the historic side of the hotel. There wasn't a balcony which we've come to appreciate especially in Hawaii to be able to go outside, view the water, and smell the air. Instead there was a window which we tried to orient ourselves in to get a picture of us with our welcome leis and Waikiki Beach in the background. Very challenging to appreciate a window as well as find space in the room to lay out two large suitcases without having to relocate furniture. The shower leaked water onto the bathroom floor as the cracks in the glass were not sealed so there was a constant wet towel on the floor. The bathroom in general didn't seem very modern considering the hotel had recently undergone years of modernization. Housekeeping was good and treated us well with towels and drinking water. I believe the Tower rooms of the hotel might be more modern and larger, as well as away from the event area of the hotel. I think we would look at other options in the future as we also spent a few days each during this trip at the Sheraton and The Royal Hawaiian which provided a much different experience in comparison.

WORDS TO DESCRIBE Halepuna Hotel: Modern, clean, safe, economically and environmentally friendly (bamboo room cards, water dispensers for your reusable water bottles), bright, airy, quality service in hospitality and room service LOCATION I loved staying at the Halepuna Hotel. It was centrally located at the beach walk, so ABC Store, shops, restaurants, and the beach were all within walking distance. *It was difficult finding the location of the hotel, when we first arrived. There was no big sign that you can spot, while you're driving, so my landmarks I always looked for were the ABC Store and Denny's. STAFF/SERVICE: Everyone that we came across during our stay was very friendly, generous, kind, and attentive. A shoutout to the Valet Service crew, especially RJ. He gave us recommendations for where to go. He always made us smile and laugh with his jokes. Thank you Uncle! AMENITIES: ROOMS Our room was equipped with charge stations-usb and usb c compatible plugs, ironing board/iron, mini fridge, ice bucket, tea kettle, and coffee maker. BATHROOM Well stocked with towels, a drying cord, blow dryer, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I appreciated that instead of your standard toilet, the hotel had bidets! *Great water pressure for showering. The tub was also spacious, if you wanted to take a bubble bath. 8TH FLOOR GYM-Equipped with a lot of machines Water dispenser Additional restrooms/shower room LAUNDRY ROOM is open 24/7 There are 3 washers and 4 dryers You can pay using your credit card or download the WASH CONNECT app *Friendly suggestions: -As a guest, bring your own laundry soap/dryer sheets--or go to the ABC Store if you forget your laundry supplies -Make sure to clean the lint trap before you put your clothes in -Put a timer on your phone to check on your clothes GARDEN -Serene, tranquil, peaceful, spacious -------- Friendly Suggestions for Halepuna Hotel -Have a big sign stationed outside the hotel, perhaps elevate the height of the sign and add lights to it, so it's easy to spot for first time visitors ------- All in all I enjoyed staying at the Halepuna Hotel. The services and amenities provided were excellent. I can't wait to visit again soon! Mahalo Halepuna Hotel!

I worked incredibly hard to bring my family to Hawaii, and I am extremely disappointed that so much of our time at Hilton Hawaiian Village was spent dealing with problems that should never have become our responsibility. Over three nights, we experienced two separate water leaks and repeated hot-water issues. These weren't minor inconveniences--they significantly disrupted our family vacation. The worst night, I slept approximately two hours. With water leaking into our room, I chose to stay awake and deal with the situation myself because I didn't want maintenance repeatedly coming into the room and waking my 1-year-old and 3-year-old children. Instead of resting and enjoying the next day with my family, I was exhausted because I had essentially spent the night protecting my children's sleep while dealing with the hotel's maintenance problem. That is unacceptable at a resort of this caliber. Management eventually provided compensation, and I appreciate that they acknowledged the situation. However, I absolutely do not believe the compensation matched the severity of what we experienced. I didn't work all year and spend thousands of dollars bringing my family to Hawaii to spend a significant portion of our vacation calling guest services, dealing with leaks, worrying about hot water, and effectively helping manage Hilton's property. Money can be refunded. Vacation time with my children cannot. For the price and reputation of this resort, our experience fell dramatically below what any family should reasonably expect.

Once my room became available I dropped off my luggage and then went directly to the beach. When I returned I did notice some areas of concern where the room was not very well cleaned. Instead of calling housekeeping I went directly downstairs to the front desk. Front desk personnel were busy as there were only 2 people assisting the long line of quests. I decided I'll just deal with the room uncleanliness later. Please be advised that I did take pictures. Once I checked out on Sunday, March 8th, I advised the front desk personnel my concerns. The manager Ira listened to my concerns as I showed her my pictures. She immediately apologized and ask that I email the pictures to their corporate office. Which I did once I arrived back to the mainland. In the room there's a finger or toenail clipping on the carpet between the console and couch. Also you can also see that portion of the carpet has not been vacuumed. The clothed bench in front of bed was extremely stained and filthy. So filthy that I covered the bench with a bath towel if I needed to sit down. Also the refrigerator was very dirty. I chose not to put any food items in the fridge because of this. Also the bottom of the toilet is stained with either fecal matter, urine or maybe it's rust. If so, clean it then use caulking. These are the concerns I have with room 403. Hopefully I'll be hearing from upper management in regards to my unpleasant stay in room 403. The best part of staying at this hotel was the show Auana which is located at this hotel. We also used our American Express Platinum Hotel Credit benefit, and it was great that this hotel qualified for it. Ka Laʻi is one block from the beach, backing up to Fort DeRussy Park, a military reservation, and is surrounded by many shops and restaurants, especially along Luxury Row, which is a non-negotiable visit for us. There is so much aloha felt here, with the staff always greeting us with genuine smiles and a willingness to help. The hotel is quiet and soothing, perfect for a relaxing stay. We checked in seamlessly and were provided with cold, refreshing water upon our arrival. Our room was spacious and felt very cozy, with beige carpet and tile flooring, brown furniture, and dark cabinetry in the kitchen. In the seating area, there was a large full-size sofa, an upholstered side chair, and a coffee table. The long dresser and closet provided plenty of storage. A lovely welcome treat was left in our room: two Ka Laʻi reusable water bottles, Hawaiian semi-sweet chocolate, and Beach Brittle. These items were a very nice touch. If you feel inclined to enjoy more Beach Brittle, you can purchase it downstairs in the small shop next to the spa. The bathroom had a double-sink vanity with plenty of counter space, which is a must for me, a large soaking tub, and a wet shower area. It was a generously sized bathroom with plenty of room to move around. Our stay included a wonderful breakfast buffet at Inyō. There was an omelet station with a chef preparing made-to-order omelets, along with a variety of beautiful fresh fruit, hot and cold breakfast items, rice, and Asian-inspired bites. The infinity pool is located near the restaurant, Inyō. It's tiled in a beautiful blue that adds a nice contrast to the tan backdrop of the neighboring high-rise buildings. The pool is long and narrow, accented by a series of raised, tiled planter islands that provide a bit of privacy between guests. We were too busy to swim or enjoy the other amenities, but just walking around the grounds was incredibly relaxing. It's a very peaceful place to stay, unlike many of the larger hotel brands. The standout at this hotel was definitely the service. The staff always made eye contact, greeted us warmly, and either asked about or anticipated our needs. This is a hotel that is definitely worth returning to.
