AC Hotel punched above its weight; yes, rooms are small and "modern" (read: cramped), but there were lots of positives during my stay. First, location was great; right in "downtown" Honolulu with lots of shops and restaurants, but still just a moderate walk (45 min?) or a short car ride (10 min?) away from the more touristy Waikīkī and waterfront properties. Furniture appeared brand new, everything was clean and comfortable in my room. The bathroom was nice, especially since it had a full door (ahem, Bonvoy please take note). The fitness center was nice, they did a good job of packing in cardio and weights. Not a full gym by any means, but you've got dumbbells up to 50 lbs and a cable machine, along with the usual cardio equipment. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, from front desk to valet to housekeeping. Quality stay here!

Carlos made this stay worth wild!! He was so friendly and had great recommendations for the super cool speakeasy bar inside on the hotels main bar! He also gave us great customer service at the breakfast service each day!

Great hotel! Best breakfast buffet I've had from a hotel since Denmark. Clean, simple room with comfortable king sized bed and perfect body pillows. Large windows allowed the office workers next door to gawk at my naked form :) Quality wifi free with the room. Ammenities! A coffee shop that charges to your room ($35 voucher everyday), a great bar on the ground level, an AWESOME bar on the lower level and a TIKI Bar hidden inside that bar... I enjoyed every night here. Highly recommend and will stay there for next visit to Hono.

New clean hotel. Staffs are very nice. No privacy is a problem when you are taking a shower. convenient location. Parking is pricey but it's the cheap one nearby. You will have someone park the car for you and you will need to pay tips. I don't want other people to park my car. You know it's not convenient. They change 60 for parking and 20 for something else.

This review is for the hotel bar and not the hotel itself. I'm gonna say 4.5 stars and round up to 5. Excellent service and excellent food and drink. Minus the half star for only 1 tv on one side of the bar. And it wasn't on. Being a hotel bar maybe it's better with no tv. I can only imagine if there were lotsa tvs this would be a sports bar special. But I digress. We went on Christmas Eve. We walked from our place. But if you need parking, you'll have to use private or municipal lots. There is valet but we didn't see when we walked up. The place was empty. The bartender invited us in and we sat at the bar. Furniture was modern but not the trendy mid-century modern stuff. I'm thankful for the under counter lighting so I can see my purse. It's those little details that make a place great. The bartender described the Christmas drink and I was intrigued so I got it. He was hungry so we ordered the meat and cheese platter. He got the Manhattan. Drinks were strong and the food was good. Prices were standard for a hotel so we opted not to stay long. The bartender and the rest of the staff were attentive. But the greatest thing is that we didn't have to venture into Chinatown. Will definitely return!

The autograph collection hotel or AC Hotel for Short is a new building in the downtown district area. Open for 6 months and 23 days, not many people know of its existence, explains Nalu (Manager on duty). The AC hotel is six minutes walking distance from popular restaurants like livestock tavern, the pig and the lady, podmore, and O'Kims. Other accommodating features they have are the speakeasy on the bottom floor, bar, and restaurant. Room and fitness center is a new and modern high-end feature with everything you need in feeling relaxed and comfortable . Also, they have a quick and friendly valet service.

This review is for AC Lounge inside the hotel, which has its own entrance. Opening day, so lots and lots of staff and managers on deck. Everyone was super nice and friendly and welcoming. Food was good, and you have to try their drinks! Good atmosphere, lots of working professionals and downtown residents right now. Decor/seating on point. A little confused about the positioning of the one tv screen, but I'm sure they'll work it out eventually. Check out the drinks menu photo -- LOTS of beers on draft!

In the past, when in this area we have stayed at the Hawaiian Village. Now we are upper tier…read moreMarriott members, we have left our Hilton days behind and checking out the Marriott products in Oahu. As this hotel is known from its historical presence, we have decided to stay here for our first time at Waikiki Beach. This hotel is centrally located in Waikiki beach. When you step out your door front, aka the lobby, you are in the midst of all the action. As this hotel is so centrally located it is popular for guest and visitors who come to visit the history of this hotel. We were visiting during the shoulder season, so we expected the hotel to be quiet. Some hotel management quote that hotels are only 30 percent full during late September. This hotel seemed busy and perhaps its due to the tight quarters. Given this hotel is centered around a tree, the bar and eatery space is tight--The mass amount of people in a tight space can seem unrelaxing to some. Upon checking in, we were also questioning ourselves, if we were really there during the shoulder season as there was a line at 2pm. And the Bonvoy line was the longest. As that line seemed long, we decided we better split up and stand in two lines. Despite the line being long, it went quickly. We appreciated that! And for Japanese guest there is a special line- Hawaii gets a lot of guests from HI. Our room was not ready yet, so we saddle up at the bar. We grabbed a drink, and before too long our room was ready. We left our luggage with the bell boy, and he brought it up when ready. We identify our room as ready by the app, before we got the phone call. We were informed that we had a nice suite waiting for us- We waited patiently for the elevators- lines can develop at the tower elevators. Once we got into the elevator- we were hot- I am not sure if the elevators have AC-- or if it was due to the number of people smooshed into the elevator. Our room was on the 20th floor at the end-- And it was a treat! Our suite had two balconies-- one that looked like it hung over the ocean and the other facing the Diamond head and the city. The room also has a mini bar with a fridge and microwave, a dining room table, a living room, a bedroom with a super comfy bed-- westin style, and a bathroom. The room was very modern. The historical charm of the centered part of the hotel does not carry over to the suites. The room was great due to the amazing views and balconies. I would select this room again for the views alone. The disappointment was the bathroom- the room features a bathroom that seemed slightly outdated. The bathroom only had a small shower and no bathtub. As for outside space- The beach in front of this hotel is not very big. This is partially due to storms. If you are looking for a beach with more depth from the hotel to the ocean- you may want to go to the Hawaiian village. The water is a bit rougher here too- good for surfing-- also it was storm season. As for the pool- skip the pool and go into the beautiful clear ocean. The pool is a joke-- it is so small. If you look at other hotel along the ocean, you will see most hotels are very small. The other sad thing is the lack of lounge chairs- there are minimal number of chairs for guest- and guest save them early. The chairs on the beach are for rent-- I think the hotel should provide more lounge chairs- but again space is lacking around this hotel. As for food- as Marriott ambassadors we were provide two breakfast meals per a day at the main restaurant or cafe. This first day we went to the restaurant and offered a choice of three continental breakfast items- the offer was sad as the food was horrible. Does this represent their lunch and dinner menu? To upgrade to the buffet- it was 32 dollars extra. The hotel's breakfast buffet is about 55 dollars- yikes! Not worth it. Service was great. The cafe, take away, was a better option- where we could spend a total of 40 dollars- breakfast sandwiches are on the menu. As you are at the beach- there is a lot of noise around the hotel- you hear music at this hotel plus all the hotel along the beach- so just be prepared for this- join in or bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. Also, this hotel charges a resort fee that is over 50 dollars- the resort fee includes programs, towels, gym, etc. When checking in, the amenities were not really shared with us. We were not even told where the gym was. So I am not sure if they have a good gym for those who like to work out. Lastly, the staff at the hotel is wonderful!! A big shout out to the housekeepers who were always friendly and did a great job. And to the staff in the lobby who always helped me find my way around the hotel- to the point of almost taking me to my destination. So was it worth the price? Depends on what you see value in?!

It is so beautiful love everything about it. Specially the rocking chairs in the front .we're at the pool every day. The only issue is I have to wake up at 5 o'clock in the morning to take my place and they open at seven and before seven most chairs are taken. The only issue I have with this place is the fact that there's not enough chairs around the pool. I wish I could get them at 4 1/2 star, but it's not able to. The location is fantastic is right on the water. If you wanna swim don't swim in that part of the beach go farther when you're looking at the ocean to the left of it because in front of this hotel, there's a lot of rocks that can hurt your feet. The beach restaurant is unbelievable specially if you wanna order food while you're sitting at the pool, everything was incredible. I had the Caesar salad the burger. The pokey was all incredible. I will definitely be back. You're almost a five star.

And they offer a kamaaina weekend staycation deal for locals that brings out the crazies who act like they have never been to a nice hotel before. There should be an adults only pool, like that which is offered at other resorts. Lastly, food available was mediocre at best. 100 Sails is probably your best option - decent buffet for dinner and breakfast. We also ate one meal poolside since we were trying to relax there one afternoon. We ordered a cheeseburger deluxe with fries. The burger came with about a 3 oz patty, and the fries were as hard as a rock. For the $24 we paid, we probably got a $6 fast food combo meal. We also ordered a Caesar salad - that was a single romaine heart, split lengthwise, with 4 small shavings of Parmesan cheese and a tablespoon of bottled Caesar dressing; $24 too! Soft drinks were $8 each. I know hotel resort poolside food is expensive but I did expect something a little better. The best thing is the valet parking service; very fast and efficient since they always have about 6 valets working all the time. But be advised that this service is not cheap - $52 per day with a $5 tip each in/out trip!

As many mention, the property itself is pristine--calm, spotless rooms, excellent toilets, and comfortably sized showers and tubs. The nightly turndown treats from housekeeping (ranging from chapstick to custom coasters) were a delightful detail we looked forward to each evening. Breakfast was included and decent, though it skews heavily toward traditional Japanese options. As a pregnant guest, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of basics like oatmeal, and the requested toast turned out to be basic white bread. We encountered some exceptional team members. Donna at the front desk was wonderfully warm, remembering my son's name from our second day. A lovely woman at the pool with very long hair and a gentleman who plays in a band were also fantastic--he consistently helped us set up cabanas so I could stay out of the direct sun. Unfortunately, two major issues significantly impacted our stay: * Unprofessional Pool Management: The pool manager (who did not wear a nametag) was surprisingly rude. After another attendant helped us secure a shaded cabana the day prior to ensure I had sun protection while watching my son play, the manager confronted me about "saving" cabanas. Considering the hotel was not full, the aggressive tone taken with a heavily pregnant guest was completely unwarranted and unlike anything I've experienced at a property of this tier. * Misleading Beachfront Experience: The hotel advertises itself as a beachfront resort, but the accessible beach area is extremely minimal with choppy water. Between the lack of loungers or shade and the large Mai Tai catamarans constantly docking right next door, swimming isn't practical, nor is relaxing on the sand if you need sun relief. We truly wanted to love our stay, but given the premium price point, the combination of poor beach access and an unnecessarily hostile interaction at the pool left us thoroughly disappointed.

We also used our American Express Platinum Hotel Credit benefit, and it was great that this hotel qualified for it. Ka Laʻi is one block from the beach, backing up to Fort DeRussy Park, a military reservation, and is surrounded by many shops and restaurants, especially along Luxury Row, which is a non-negotiable visit for us. There is so much aloha felt here, with the staff always greeting us with genuine smiles and a willingness to help. The hotel is quiet and soothing, perfect for a relaxing stay. We checked in seamlessly and were provided with cold, refreshing water upon our arrival. Our room was spacious and felt very cozy, with beige carpet and tile flooring, brown furniture, and dark cabinetry in the kitchen. In the seating area, there was a large full-size sofa, an upholstered side chair, and a coffee table. The long dresser and closet provided plenty of storage. A lovely welcome treat was left in our room: two Ka Laʻi reusable water bottles, Hawaiian semi-sweet chocolate, and Beach Brittle. These items were a very nice touch. If you feel inclined to enjoy more Beach Brittle, you can purchase it downstairs in the small shop next to the spa. The bathroom had a double-sink vanity with plenty of counter space, which is a must for me, a large soaking tub, and a wet shower area. It was a generously sized bathroom with plenty of room to move around. Our stay included a wonderful breakfast buffet at Inyō. There was an omelet station with a chef preparing made-to-order omelets, along with a variety of beautiful fresh fruit, hot and cold breakfast items, rice, and Asian-inspired bites. The infinity pool is located near the restaurant, Inyō. It's tiled in a beautiful blue that adds a nice contrast to the tan backdrop of the neighboring high-rise buildings. The pool is long and narrow, accented by a series of raised, tiled planter islands that provide a bit of privacy between guests. We were too busy to swim or enjoy the other amenities, but just walking around the grounds was incredibly relaxing. It's a very peaceful place to stay, unlike many of the larger hotel brands. The standout at this hotel was definitely the service. The staff always made eye contact, greeted us warmly, and either asked about or anticipated our needs. This is a hotel that is definitely worth returning to.

It took ages to load a simple streaming app. And when I looked for an outlet to charge my phone, the cheap plastic port I found was melted and inoperable.
