Ahh yes, the low stars and bad reviews across are certainly making since now, Facebook as well…read more Even looking at replies to upset customers screams someone with no home training or proper manners lol "I'm sorry YOU had this experience", no lady, YOU are the issues here, YOU should be embarrassed by your lack of dignity and professionalism.
I spent several days trying to arrange a showing for Hokulani Apartments #307 and never got a confirmed appointment or a return call, dignity or professionalism. 1120 Hassinger St., Honolulu, HI 96822, MLS 202617983, unit tax ID 1-2-4-019-023-0027; the state condo record gives the building TMK as 1-2-4-019-023. The public listing names Camille Naluai-Rios and says it was listed by Faith Naluai, LLC.
I asked to see a one-bedroom apartment. After five days, repeated messages, two phone attempts, and a promised callback, I still had no showing. What stayed with me was how the process felt after I explained why phone-only scheduling was difficult (99% of people and firms on zillow USE THE SCHEDULE BUTTON and chat to set appointments and prequalify, why couldn't this firm extend that to me, a disabled person?
I contacted the Zillow listing on Thursday, October 15, asking how to apply. On Monday, the account labeled "Property Manager" told me to call the office, stated a 650 minimum credit score, and said all applicants had to view the unit in person before applying. Just a dry message with not even the right punctuation.
When I asked on Tuesday when I could see it, as I had been trying to do for nearly a week, i received the same bland instruction to call. The messages were terse and repetitive. They did not answer my disability accomodation scheduling question or offer a time.
That was especially frustrating because the brokerage's public listing displayed both a virtual-tour option and an online appointment link for this unit!
The virtual-tour option I tried did not work for me. No one in the Zillow exchange directed me to the appointment link.
I am disabled, partially deaf, and travel using Handi-Van. A delayed ride and a noisy bus made a phone call difficult that morning. One would think a simple scheduling wouldn't add even more difficulty.
In the Zillow conversation, I disclosed my disability and Handi-Van situation and asked to arrange the showing in writing as an accommodation. I was willing to view the apartment in person. I was asking for a workable way to schedule it. I received no answer to that request, it was ignored.
I did call. The first call went to voicemail, but I could not leave a message. When I later reached someone, he did not give me his name, could not say when the unit could be shown, and said he would get back to me without taking my name or number. I called him on this and it was like he was half asleep, he said "oh.. yeah.. I should take your number ans name and give to faith" Since I was already on the way to town, I even offered to stop by; he declined. I explained to him the challenges of trying to see this unit, he didnt offer care of compassion, and I again received no callback.
On October 20, I emailed Faith Naluai to ask the company to review the exchange, the phone experience, and the virtual-tour option. As of this review, I have received no response to that email.
The listing names Camille Naluai-Rios as its contact and Faith Naluai, LLC as the brokerage. The company identifies Faith as principal broker and Camille as broker-in-charge. I do not know who wrote the Zillow replies or answered my call, and I am not attributing those exchanges to either person personally. I do expect a brokerage's leadership to make sure a prospective renter can get a clear answer and that a promised callback has a way to happen.
The company's website speaks of "patience & professionalism" and "service with aloha." That gave me a laugh, as every business who wants your money in Hawai'i says this, mot all can live uo to it. Aloha is a BIG word that shoukd be lived. My experience fell painfully short of those words.
I cannot determine anyone's motive or declare a legal violation from this exchange. I can say that I explained a disability-related communication barrier, tried the route I was given, and left without a showing or a response to my request.
Maya Angelou's words about how people "will never forget how you made them feel" fit this experience. I felt brushed aside at the very point where a little care and basic follow-through would have mattered most.
Property owners abd tenants alike, considering this firm, should ask how it treats others, handles written showing requests, accessibility concerns, unanswered calls, and promised follow-ups. I have closed my inquiry and will not pursue other listings through this brokerage, ever again.
