We met a few days before our departure which was day after Christmas. Within two days of our consult, one of our dogs became ill and had to be hospitalized during Christmas Eve due to reaction to a pain medication and was discharged Christmas Day. We contemplated canceling our vacation but didn't and relied on Gabriela and her team to take care of our dog while she recovered (slowly). She needed medications, extra attention, as well as taking care of another dog while we were away for 5 days. We almost canceled our trip but glad we didn't as Burke Center Pet Sitting took care of our fukids and helped our sick one recover during our absence. They communicated every day, checked in our dogs multiple times a day, dispensed medications, and cleaned up after a sick dog. Within the first day we were confident we made the right decision. I can go on about how great Burke Centre Pet Sitting is but the simplest way to put it is we put in their hands a dog that was hospitalized Christmas Eve and they were able to take care of her and make us comfortable to enjoy our vacation. He said I was just a bit out of their service area, but he could make it work based on our flexibility with days. We scheduled the initial meetup on Saturday, and he says he's right outside. I text him because no one is on the driveway, and even send him the address again. He texts back that he thought no one was home (2 cars in the driveway and I confirmed we were home just 20 min before). And he cancels saying we are 30 min away from his farthest client. Randomly, he texts me 3 images of dogs and cats for no reason. With today's technology, he could have Googled my address and known the distance from me to his next client without having to drive it. I can understand if we were located way outside of his service area, but either the service map is out of date, or Brian just doesn't care to be professional about declining service. He should have notified us with a phone call instead of a random text message 10 minutes after our appointment saying, "It didn't look like anyone was home.". It seems professionalism and courtesy are seriously lacking for this company. I would not recommend Wags 4 Walks to anyone since Brian was not honest with us in any way.

I have been using this location for 1 medium and 1 large dog for about a year and a half now. It's easy to write a good review when everything goes as expected, but it's even more impressive when I feel the need to do so after things don't. But I'll get to that... Location has 3 dog rooms for open play based on sizes. This allows your pup to feel more comfortable around the other dogs. They do require a temperament test before allowing your pup to open enroll in daycare/boarding. When your dog is here you can view them on the cameras either on their website, or even better on your phone using their app. At night they are crated. When boarding you can drop off your own food, or they can provide food for an extra fee. Make sure to check out the calendar of events. Periodically they will have themed picture days and your dog's picture will be taken during daycare. Our favorite so far has been the Hawaiian vacation pictures. The grooming option here is too convenient. I can drop my dog off for daycare all day on a workday, and just schedule a grooming for anytime during the day and at the end of the day I pick up a tired, clean dog. I also love to schedule grooming for the last day when I board my dogs. That way when they get picked up they smell/feel clean, not like other dogs. Our dogs don't require a cuts/trims, so I can't speak to that aspect of grooming. Now for the real testament of their service... over a weeklong holiday boarding, our large dog was bitten by another dog during daycare. We were on the other side of the country, so we had to rely on them handling everything while we were remote. Dogtopia called me as often as necessary to keep me informed; they emailed me pictures of the injury; they took him to the vet; they kept him separated in his own room until his wound improved and gave him TLC & medical treatment ... even allowing our other dog to visit; and they indulged my many questions about the incident and corrective actions. Obviously you can never be 100% sure another dog won't bite, until they do, but I was impressed by the investigation of the incident and felt very reassured that it would not happen again based on the actions Dogtopia chose to take. They obviously took this incident seriously and care very much for the welfare of the dogs entrusted to them. I would highly recommend Dogtopia if you can afford it. I'm continuing to use them with confidence.

Specifically, while at their facility, my dog sustained a bite that was allowed to fester and get infected during his time in their care. - On 17 Feb 2023, My dog sustained a bite at ADDO Springfield, I was notified it was minor, and they would take steps to take care of it - Picked him up as scheduled on 22 Feb 2023, met him with a patch of clumped fur that smelled foul and was oozing pus (as acknowledged by the Mgr on duty) - On the morning of 24 Feb 2023, the vet confirmed and revealed an infected wound. - I sent an email to ADDO on the afternoon of 24 Feb 2023 requesting a meeting with the owners and manager. - The email - "Subject: Request to Speak About [Dog's Name] Bite Sustained 17 Feb 2023" was sent for a total of 4 messages: x3 -- 1 every 24 hours in succession and a 4th and final one on 28 2023 Feb days after the others, indicating that I would escalate. - As of of the posting of this message, I have not received communication from ADDO Springfield. Since it's a privately owned business that has failed to respond in a reasonable amount of time, I'm using this review as the only escalation mechanism available in this situation. *** TS; WM - THE DETAILS This review is meant to inform other pet parents of my experience, concerns, and observed shortcomings. Given the circumstances, I've done my best to present the facts and withhold emotion. I've waited this long, 1) in part to see if ADDO Springfield would ever contact me (they have not) and 2) to create distance from the incident. I believe that every pet parent who uses ADDO Springfield or is considering using them should know that a signed release of liability does not equal the release of a reasonable expectation to pet care by ADDO Springfield. Simply washing and observing the injury my pet sustained while in the care of ADDO Springfield would've avoided this infection (see the above description and attached photos). The fact that ADDO Springfield's team and protocols allowed this injury -- that my pet sustained while in their care -- to fester into infection made me wonder what other basic elements of care this team is not performing that we pet parents are unaware of. Realistically, the bite wound just needed to be observed and kept clean. My signed agreement also has a credit card on file and an agreement for it to be used for care. I was never informed that the bite was infected nor asked if I wanted to use the card for a vet. I trusted that when the team said they would care for it, they would. I followed ADDO Springfield's norm: no news is news. Meaning, they call you for immediate issues or let you know of minor non-health-related items upon pick-up. The lack of response to my requests to understand what happened and how to prevent it left me deeply disappointed and even more concerned about ever having them care for my pet. Additionally, this establishment had ample time to get back to me. My request to meet expressly stated that I wanted to meet to 1) understand the protocols and how this could've happened and could be prevented in the future, 2) what exactly happened the day of the incident, and 3) exactly what actions/care was taken days after the incident, preceding my return to pick up my dog. I provided three (3) written email requests, with the final one sent on 28 Feb 2023. As of the posting date of this review, I never heard back from anyone at ADDO Springfield. Note: Before posting this, I called to confirm they received the messages, the employee answering indicated that he sent my email to the owners who told him they would call me. I have not received that call, nor have I received an email response. ____
