A few years ago (4 years) I needed a quality computer to be built. I did my research and decided to pick Puget Computers because of their quality and customer service. I had my computer for a little over 4 years before I experience problems. I brought my computer to my local computer repair shop and was told that my CPU overheated and ruined the motherboard. I spoke to support, although they where very polite, I was told it was no longer on warranty and this wasn't there problem. I decided to replace the motherboard and CPU at my expense. I stumbled across Puget Systems on the internet years ago and read their stellar online reviews. Cautiously optimistic and liking their web site, I purchased a Serenity system computer from them in 2015. It's fantastic! So much so that I plan on buying my next computer system from them in late 2020 and would not want to go anywhere else. Not only was the ordering and sales process outstanding, but it was great being able to track the build as the machine was being assembled. It arrived well-packaged and with extremely well-done documentation etc. Most importantly, the machine itself was really well done. I've been using it regularly since 2015 for home stuff, office stuff, and gaming. The Serenity line is really quiet as advertised. And my PC has been working without issues since 2015. As an added bonus, through the years I've been able to contact Puget with questions about various things and have always received intelligent, professional, and thoughtful answers and advice and recommendations. To be sure, there is a bit of a premium that you pay when buying from Puget. But I have no regrets: to me, the extra money is worth the reassurance of getting ethical and sound advice on what to order (without being upsold); a transparent assembly process; a highly well-crafted PC that is assembled with great care and pride and with great and dependable parts and components; and lifetime and professional and intelligent and caring technical support. Puget may be a business out to make a profit, but it is also clearly a group of people who enjoy craftsmanship and working with their clients to meet their computing needs in a really stellar way and with integrity. This was my third system from Puget, but my third time is definitely NOT a charm. They sent me a motherboard that must be removed to replace the CMOS battery. It's an ASUS ProArt Z790-Creator WiFi, but I wonder what idiot/moron/imbecile/lamebrain came up with this design. I found this online post about the ProArt Z790 from a person who builds his own water cooled computers: "Stay clear of motherboards where it takes two hours to replace a CMOS battery. I had to do this today. The CMOS of the Proart requires mobo removal and removal of the IO board shield in order to unplug the CMOS battery, and then no shop has such a battery. I ended up cutting off the wires and soldering them onto a new 3V battery designed with solder lugs. See attached (photo) what the rubbish looks like." Guess I should have done my homework before ordering, but trusted Puget to include decent components in their builds. Their own tech support person described the battery replacement as "sad". Their reply to my complaint was "If the CMOS battery does need to be replaced within the lifetime of the system, we can swap it out for you in our repair shop." Which means: (1) the hassle of packing it up and getting it to UPS or FedEx (2) the inconvenience of having no computer for probably 2 weeks (3) the shipping expense of $242 round trip. When the battery died in my old system, I spent a few bucks at Walgreens for a new battery and had it replaced in 5 minutes. What a joke! read more

I bought an Obsidian system in 2012. The system has been rock solid in the 10 years since and still handles gaming and workstation tasks well (with a recent video card upgrade). I had a CPU cooling fan fail after 8 years which they replaced gratis. And 10 years later they helped me troubleshoot and quickly resolve a power on issue. I bought from Puget Systems the worst computer I had in my life and I paid a lot. I receive a worthless infrared picture of the computer doing a heat test, a big pile of hardware junk with all types of screws that in the computer life span you would never use and a set of disks to reinstall drivers that are a pain to install when you need them and they don't properly. Stick to the well-known brands like HP, etc because this company is worse than build a computer in your local shop. read more

Love Pudget, They send you all kinds of details to nerd out on while they are building your system, like thermal pictures and graphs of the system heat while they are testing it. They also update you every step of their build process. I had a video card fail from their system I bought from them. I called and told them it was the video card. They sent me a new one with out question or walking me though generic troubleshooting steps. Now more then a year late after I bought my system. A Serious Computer Company Indeed. After many years of dealing with computers made by the 3 big computer companies mostly because they were the same brand and more or less worked until this time, when I decided to replace my 10 year old PC. As you can imagine all 3 failed and they failed so bad, that I had to return the 3 PCs, because of their abysmal lack of quality. So, I remembered that about 10 years ago, just out curiosity, I saw the site, Reseller Ratings.com, so I came back and saw the ratings for the computer makers, and whoa ! I was surprised that the same company, Puget Systems, that I saw 10 years ago, it was still at the top of the ratings. And I decided to give it a shot and ordered a monster PC. Puget Systems built the best PC I have ever seen, with the best components my budget can afford. Not only it is fast, after all it is a monster PC, but it is also so quiet you can't even know it is there. But the most impressive thing was that my VPN connection speed is almost as fast as what I get from my ISP. Normally in my old PC, and while I was suffering with the horrible PCs made from the 3 big companies, my VPN connection speed dropped to half or less, even with the "new machines", but with this Puget System it is in another league. Plus you get all the notifications while your PC is being built, pictures of your PC and so many benchmarks and tests that I didn't know they even existed, obviously the big computer maker won't do even if you are paying practically the same price. I purchased a custom workstation from Puget Systems back in 2014. Right from the start I could tell this was an outstanding company with which to do business. Everyone I spoke with throughout the design and ordering process was highly knowledgeable and provided useful insights and advice as I worked out my system specifications. In the three years since my purchase I've needed customer support a couple of times when I decided to do upgrades/replacements myself and bungled the job. Each time customer service was stellar and got me back on track with advice or replacement parts immediately. For example, recently my on-board RAID controller gave me a warning of an imminent disk failure of one of the RAID drives. I opened a support ticket - and within a couple of hours was already trouble-shooting the issue with Ben. He provided me a course of action to remediate the situation - and even followed up a few days later just to see how the process went. Great customer service! Puget Systems is AMAZING! They focus primarily on building & upgrading systems, but they also do computer repair. They upgraded my husband's original Alienware for less than it would have cost him to start from scratch, using the parts that he already bought, plus allowed him to keep his hard drive in addition to the new one so he didn't have to worry that he hadn't backed it up before it died. A couple of weeks later, my work computer was infected with the oh-so-lovely Windows XP Internet Security 2010 virus. It's a pernicious little bugger and my hard drive had to be reformatted. Since my computer is used as the company's server of sorts, it was really important to get it taken care of in a timely fashion so the company didn't come to a screeching halt. I called Thursday at noon and described the issue to Brian, who quoted end of day Friday if we put a rush on it. I dropped it off with Richard at 1pm and got a call at 5:20 saying it was done. I picked it up Friday morning, so we were offline for a total of 4 hours - Thursday afternoon. And all this for the rock bottom price of $164! I cannot thank these guys enough for all their hard work and the most courteous service. No one spoke to me or my husband like we're idiots, like a lot of techies do. For my work I needed a computer that would allow me to record and produce Camtasia videos with ease, and I also needed quiet. My work-provided laptop produced a discernible whirring noise in the background of all of my videos, which was horrible. Work wasn't in a position to provide a better laptop and because I work in a home office, I decided it was time to update the office desktop. I was excited to find Puget Custom Computers for a number of reasons--one is that they are US-based. Additionally, I'm in the Pacific Northwest, and I really believe it's important to support local talent as much as possible. All of Puget's reviews have been glowing as well. I worked with Wilson Chau over a series of e-mails outlining what I thought I needed. My original "fantasy build" contained extraneous things that were either unnecessary or more expensive than necessary, and I deeply appreciate Puget System's integrity. Wilson made excellent recommendations, guiding me toward best quality and most cost effective materials. In late August, I ordered a Serenity build desktop. This was promptly delivered, and the customer service both before and after has been phenomenal (including a follow up phone call to ensure all was well). The Serenity system has been perfect. Video production is snappy, in fact everything is snappy. And quiet. My videos are incredibly quiet, so the Serenity system quiet build has been profoundly useful. It's true what the description of the Serenity says: if it weren't for the lights, sometimes I can't tell if it's on! The Serenity was not the cheapest computer I've ever bought, but I definitely feel my purchase dollars were maximized to buy the best quality materials and service. Yes, it was more than a $300 laptop, but quite frankly, a $300 laptop could not do what I needed for work--and this new computer can! I don't know much about computer systems but I did know that the kind of computer I was looking to buy was going to be expensive. I work a lot with the Adobe Premiere Suite and I needed something that could handle 4k footage, multiple programs and quick renders--to name a few. I bought my first computer over 30 years ago. Every few years since, I have updated my personal computer. To all the scientists out there, considering something in between a personal computer and a cluster, this review is for you. I can save you time though: Contact Puget and start building. I work at the University of Colorado on all manner of complex systems. I'm a methodologist. I build computational tools to explain and predict mechanisms that cause emergent behavior in ecological, genetic, and social systems. The PI of the lab I did my PhD in recently decided to upgrade their lab computer with the idea that (1) they needed something which could handle larger data sets and enormous simulations, and (2) they wanted a computer everyone in the lab could run things on at the same time. Like a lab cluster. They could use the compute resources on campus, but wanted something they could control. As their go-to computer person I took on this project. All I knew was it had to have one of AMD's insanely high core count Threadripper CPUs. And, the University wanted a four digit price tag. I contacted multiple custom computer builders, not just Puget. Some responded with template emails. One seemed uninterested unless we were going to commit far more money over many years. And the rest estimated part prices that were marked up a strange amount. Puget responded in the form of Jeff Stubbers, who wound up answering more than a dozen emails from me, about everything from thermal concerns to motherboard-level encryption. He really seemed to consider the purpose of our interactions to help us do science, not to make Puget money. And, when he and I were settled on final specs, the rest of the team that took over were also, amazingly, of the same mindset. They stepped me through each part of the build. They sent pictures (physical, BIOS, and thermal). They sent updates explaining what was happening and why. And then they shipped us our new lab computer, which we affectionately named Dobby. I love Dobby. I have thrown incredibly demanding jobs at it, that have run more than 100 threads for days on end. I've helped the lab + their extended (scientific) family) get access to Dobby, and routinely ssh in and see them running things. Single threaded performance is so good (how AMD?) that many of them prefer running their code remotely instead of on their laptops. And, we can all do this simultaneously. I have been using and managing Dobby for over half a year now. I feel comfortable giving it my highest recommendation when new students ask for help with research computing, as do I feel about Puget. A member of their customer service team worked with me closely to get my rig to the specs I wanted at the appropriate price, my pc was built & delivered within 4 days. Normally I would just build my own rig like what I have done with the previous three, but this go around I wanted to make sure everything was done right especially since my budget was far higher than previous builds. Great place loved every minute inside, this review is based off little experience of within the company. Based off my interview I didn't think the professionalism was there entirely. I did not get the position but this is not a retaliation but more of a note to other future applicant's. Time frame was for 1hr but ended after 30 mins and afterwards was rushed out the building. Ive looked into purchasing a computer from them, what they claim is a mid sized medium built computer costs $1400 when other companies beat those prices all day. Extremely fast and quiet! During the initial parts selection, all questions were answered promptly and thoroughly, and I was advised based on my requirements/needs. During the assembly process. I was appraised of each step along the way.... After assembly, extensive testing took place, including thermal imaging.... All this, and I actually received the computer ahead of schedule! First rate packaging, and even spares, including a couple of special requests for prewired tie-offs for installing a couple of prepared drives... After arrival, programs were installed and 24 hours later, I was 80% up to speed.... 48 hours later, 95%. Smoothest migration/transition I've ever experience, all thanks to an outstanding build. And this is where I have my personal machines built. They combine the strength and depth of a large company, with the personal service of a small company. They'll fix the gaming machine your son built that doesn't boot. Or, better yet, let them build his gaming machine in the first place! You'll have a great, trouble-free machine! When my clients new new boxes, I send them to Puget Systems. Seriously, I'm impartial -- I don't get anything in return from them... except the peace of mind that it'll be done right, the way I want it, and on time. As all the other reviews have said, Puget Systems is top-shelf. I live in New York City but found Puget doing internet searches for a custom computer builder. As promised, the guys at Puget just give you the straight facts, no upsell, no BS, and they really, really know and love computers. Just spend a few minutes on their website and you'll see what I mean. They will spend as long as it takes to make sure you get the configuration you want and need. I went with one of their Echo II desktops, because I wanted something small and power-efficient. The build took a couple of weeks, and Puget has a great online system that updates you as the build progresses; you literally get pictures of your computer as it's getting built, tested, etc. When my machine arrived it was just what you'd hope for: absolutely top quality and beautiful. The thing is solid as a rock. Entirely crapware-free, of course. And while I haven't had reason to test Puget's post-sales service in the year since I've owned my Echo, everything I read about the company said they are phenomenal in this area. Puget computers cost a bit more than cut-rate (usually slightly dated) setups from big name companies, but the quality and service are head and shoulders better. I couldn't recommend Puget Systems more highly. read more

They will be very clear as to what benefit - if any - would accrue from what upgrades. They'll listen to what you want to do and help you build a configuration that is sufficient to accomplish your tasks in the price range you want. They will make it very clear which upgrades provide "bang for the buck" and which ones won't really help out your computer's performance much. I trust them implicitly. Their machines have been super-reliable - they're not like HP or other store-bought computers that are simply assembled in China from the cheapest available parts. Puget systems knows which components play well with other components and which do not - leading to an incredibly stable and reliable and well-performing system. I was on the fence between assembling my computer and going with Puget, and Puget ended up being the better choice. It's nice to have someone with tons of experience help instead of researching tons of permutations of what's available out there, and then go through trial and error to make sure everything works. Here are my highlights why I'm Puget-for-life (also, please check out their website, can't list all awesomeness here) - OS arrived with zero crapware installed. It's as would have done it for myself or a friend - there was additional box with all remaining items using during the installation, just in case I need it one day - I could see notes from assembly process online - and testing! - email support (before, during, and after) is great... i've even emailed photos when computer arrived with questions about few parts and reply was pretty quick If you do the math, there's a price premium of going with Puget vs doing it yourself. If you're assembly pro, you might not need to, but for the rest of us, it's definitely worth the price of saved time and frustration. I had an idea what graphic card, HD and CPU i wanted (and if possible, smaller case), and the Puget guided me through the rest. Also, if you prefer smaller cases, check out Echo - it's actually possible to combine power and smaller case together, and not have it meltdown because of overheating! I've originally found Puget by researching DIY forums, and yes, overwhelmingly positive reviews are true - now adding mine to the mix. read more
