We having been doing take out on a regular basis since COVID from Covington Puerto Vallarta. It is getting more and more difficult to get the food we ordered and paid for from them. Some nights they forget an item we order. Tonight we called to order and someone asked us to wait as the phone then the phone was set down. After 10 minutes we hung up the phone. We drove to the restaurant to place our order and waited in the parking lot. We were charged for the exact items we were hoping to eat for dinner. One of the items we ordered were the shrimp tacos which are always delicious! I was really looking forward to them. Instead, there were very dry white fish tacos. The fish tacos had little taste. I had a few bites and they went in the trash. What a waste! read more

I called in after my dining experience and talk to management. He was somewhat dismissive at the time but said he needed to call me back. Supposedly took down my number and said that he would talk to his waitstaff to find out what happened. Of course, I never received a phone call! I happen to be in the area yesterday and decided to stop in. Thankfully it was the same manager and he recognized me from Yelp! He was argumentative and again dismissive. Simply did not seem concerned with my complaint or improving the business. Which is a shame, this particular restaurant is in a great location, a high traffic area. Minor adjustments would probably warrant better reviews on yelp, more costumers, etc. but that is just common sense! Maybe they don't want they extra traffic?! Called to place an order for pick up. Was asked to hold. The girl left the phone down while giggling and gossiping with other people. I was on hold for 10 minutes. Hung up and couldn't call back because the phone was busy. Tried to call back about 10 times. Ended up calling another place. They lost a coupe of customers now! Will not be returning. Food are good, love their chicken wings by the way, we went there couple times during happy hour and dinner time. Always had a great time, service is up and down, they forgot utensils every time when we were there, you always have to ask for it after you get your food. My wife and I recently moved up from Arizona and we are always on the hunt for good Mexican food that reminds us of home in the Sonoran desert. Puerto Vallarta did a great job filling that spot in my stomach. I am actually surprised at all the low ratings, because our experience was great. The flour tortillas are freshly made right inside the door and taste wonderful. We came on sunday morning and had the brunch. The ground beef, beans and rice were all wonderful. Moving down the brunch buffet was a wonderful barbacoa braised beef and a delicious pulled pork. The menudo looked good but I wasn't in the mood. Around the corner were some more common fare, cheese enchiladas, chili rellenos and a tray of fried goodies like jalapeño poppers and taquitos. Everything was very good. My only complaint would be that some of the buffet items were not quiet warm enough, but that is only a very minor drawback. All in all, A+ food, we will be back to order off the menu. WOW, been eating mexican food a LONG time, and this was the worst I've seen and almost ate. I can only imagine what Ramsay would say. 1. Beans were REALLY old, dry and clumpy 2. Four tortillas were bizarre, like they were smothered in butter after cooking? They admitted they use butter when cooking then... weird 3. Rice was dry, guarantee it was old also 4. They used red onions in the steak fajitas. 5. Chicken was dry, clearly over cooked and/or old 6. Ice tea was flavored water 7. Fajita came on a plate, not a cast iron platter. Manager dismissed our entire bill, we left and ate dinner elsewhere. Those are shockingly low standards to allow a kitchen to run like that. Old food is old food, it's dry and disgusting. This wasn't a one-off where the cook had a bad day, the condition of the food represents how they operate that kitchen. Being from California mexican food can be overwhelming. The choices and tastes can be so different which is what makes ethnic food great. The have 14 restaurants throughout the state. Wow!! Today I was shocked!! I had to order from the host... then I swear my food was drive by service... just a drop of plate and when I looked up to say anything the server was already long gone. Thought they would come back... But never seen them again. We reserved the banquet room three weeks ahead of time for our party. My wife and I went there to look at the room and confirmed the reservation. I called two days prior to confirm one last time. So what do you think happend... They had the room filled with people eating. They room eventually cleared except one table that they just sat in the room. I asked the owner if he was going to ask them to move to the main restaurant area and he said no. So I took it upon myself to ask them if they would be willing to move. While I do agree It was not my job too do this, I did it anyway because the owner refused to. The couple was happy to move and we even bought them each a drink for their troubles. The owner was very angry at me and insisted that I never made reservations. He called me a liar in front of my guest and even went out of his way to talk to one of my guest. He told them I was a liar and that I never made reseratios. I kept my cool and approach the owner after the event was over and all my guest were gone. I asked to see the reservation book. There was my name showing I booked the banquet room. I explained that we all make mistakes. So you think he would say sorry, right.... No sorry. He blamed me and and even went to say that just because I reserve the banquet room does not mean I get it. When my wife tried to calm the situation, he smirked and chuckled at her. This guy is a class A jerk. All he had to do was say I'm sorry and let's make it rigth. Instead he wanted to insult me in front of my guest and to show no respect to my wife. Came in for dinner with group of people. I am allergic to dairy and asked them to have sour cream on my fajitas on a side so my husband can have it, also said black beans instead of rice . My dish came in with sour cream and cheese and rice on the plate, and two other orders were not correct as well . We send it all back . Second time my place came with rice but no topping. NOTICED SOUR CREM was in Between some of my food, so they just scraped it all of, even tho I said I was allergic to dairy. Good thing I didn't have any, so I just canceled my order , couldn't trust the kitchen. If you have any allergies defiantly don't come here, they don't take you serious. read more

Make way for the spider salad! I took my family to Puerto Vallarta for a late lunch one Saturday. I ordered a combination plate with a salad and was looking forward to gorging myself. I'd eaten about half of my salad and was going for another bite when I noticed movement on my fork. To my disgust it was this clear yellow spider that had been in my food. I understand that bad stuff like this happens, but what make Puerto Vallarta bad is that they made it out to be a regular event. They asked if I wanted a new plate of food... ummm - Yes! Then the service took abnormally long to get the new plate. Followed by our server ignoring us for the remainder of the stay. In the end I didn't even get my food comped. Our last visit here was a horrible experience. We had taken some family members there and had a party of 6. The restaraunt had an average # of customers and was not orercrowded by any means. We were seated quickly, but it took about 15 minutes before we even were asked to place our beverage order. After about another 5 minutes our food orders were taken including an appetizer. We were about 30 minutes into our visit before the beverages were even delivered. We waited about another 15 minutes before having to ask one of the staff to check the status of our appetizers since no one had checked on our table since the drinks had been delivered. Again, no response, no one checked on our table or asked how we were doing as another 15 minutes passed... After now having been there for over an hour with no food in the foreseeable future, we asked again to have someone check on our order. After a few minutes that person returned to inform us that they were not sure what had happened, but that they were getting the appetizers started... At that point, we decided to leave since we had an event that we had to go to and there was no time left. Can't rate the food since we never were served. We won't be returning... ever. read more

We ate here a couple weeks back, super good food, friendly staff and quick service. Today we went at 3:30 and there was only two other tables besides us. It took 10 minutes of us sitting there to be welcomed by our server. We ordered our food and sat there for ANOTHER 45 minutes still no food, by then we were the only couple in the restaurant. Still no food, my husband walked near the kitchen and saw our server eating food. So my husband walked back to our table and said let's go. The time before this I swore I would never be back. I hadn't been here in so long I forgot but when we went again I was quickly reminded. The chips and salsa come quickly, however, to get the server to order drinks took forever and then to get the drinks and to order, ugh. We got our food and my chicken enchiladas in creama sauce were all watery the tortillas was falling apart. Ever eatten a wet tortilla? It is as disgusting as it sounds. My boyfriend had tres amigos enchiladas. He ate a couple bites of each. The mole sauce tasted like a BBQ sauce, the other two lacked flavor and were way too soupy. Enchiladas that have to be eaten with a spoon? No thanks! The server never came back to check on us, when he finally had we had pushed our plates away and he asked if he could get us boxes we said no and he was like ok. Seriously we left two full plates of food and you don't ask why? He brings our bill and after waiting far too long for him to come back to cash us out we took it to the front and paid for it. I don't know what day these people with 4 and 5 stars reviews are going to Puerto Vallarta because I have never experienced good service or food. The food here has always been pretty good. I really like their buffet. But the service for small groups has progressively gotten worse. Recently we went for happy hour on the back patio so we could eat outside. I felt like I was walking to the back alley of a where people smoke and dump their butts and spit. All the tables were scattered like a truck hit them. Banners faded fallen down and sloppy and weeds litter and boxes scattered every where we and two other tables left because it was so bad. My husband and I have eaten here several times over the last couple of years. I've never posted a review because for me they were just OK. The last time we had lunch as usual the service was very good, plenty of smiles and service. The food seems like there is always something not quite right. This time I ordered the super nachos off the lunch menu. When they arrived all that was on the plate was chips, cheese, diced tomato, sour cream and guacamole. I asked the waitress if that's all the super nachos come with, I was looking for refried beans or something. She offered to bring out a side of beans. Later I read on the menu they should have have also come with jalapenos, refried beans, olives, green onions and taco meat. One thing it seems like so many restaurants miss an opportunity is to make sure every wait person knows what the standard of each menu item is and they NEVER let it out of the kitchen wrong. No missing items, hot food is hot, cold food is cold. Salad should always come out on a cold plate, I hate it when I'm served a crisp green salad on a plate that is hot just out of the dish washer. In all honesty, this review is a year after the fact (if not longer... I'm getting caught up on my yelp reviews) My lady and I sit in the bar/lounge sections of restaurants when we dine. The bartender at this establishment is a total A-hole. If you are not a regular patron, than God forgive you if you settle here. You will be snubbed and treated as if a peasant. My story: I ordered the ceviche. (yes, I know what ceviche is). When I was served a platter of raw white fish, I sent it back. The bartender/server was indignant, as if that was typical ceviche. Sorry, but I actually care about my intestines more than your ego. On a return visit, the bartender literally ignored us to the point I had to get up and go to the bar to order a drink - one that was literally watered down. The so called "bartender' was chumming it up with a regular while I had to pull out the proverbial landing strip flashlights to get his attention. Again, this review is late, however I have not been back to this place since then (1.5-2 years ago) because of these experiences. This was absolutely HORRIBLE. After complaining to the manager about the poor service, our server had the nerve to tell our party it wasn't her fault for the appetizers to take over 30 minutes and blamed the kitchen. I guess it wasn't her fault for taking over 45 minutes to see if we needed another round of drinks- mind you we only had one round and our glasses were empty for at least 20 minutes. Surprisly shocked how good the food was! I could eat just the homemade tortillas they make right there when you walk in. The chips and salsa are great. The food is meant for 2 people, there is no way I could come close to eating everything they give you. So share, trust me! Service, was fast, quick and no problems. Drinks are great and wonderful specials. Perfect for a fast lucky, kid friendly. Pricing is perfect, and take out orders are quick as well. Try the fajitas! Amazing!!! Disappointed to have to write this review. I've been going to this restaurant for over 5yrs with my family. Always great service, healthy proportions and amazing food. The last two weeks we have gone and been nothing but disappointed each time. While the food is still good and fresh, the service is horrible! Both times we have been in recently, our orders have been mixed up, or items missing. No attention is paid to our table with something as simple as water refills, or chips and salsa. This last time in; my young daughter ordered a virgin margarita and was served a regular margarita. The server started to argue that it did not have alcohol in it. However it was Clearly alcoholic (I tasted it) and even in a regular margarita glass. On top of this, he didn't bring two of the five items we ordered for dinner and had to have the kitchen remake them. Not even an offer to take anything off the bill either time. It's very sad, this was always a great restaurant my family and I looked forward to going to. Even through COVID shutdown we would order to go on a regular basis to help support them. I think we are invisible. Our family of 4 were seated and then promptly ignored. We say for a good twenty minutes before being asked if anyone has taken our order. It was 1pm and not busy. We received our food and it was disgusting. We had a chicken order and a steak order...there was no way that was steak. Both also tasted like chemicals. We didn't get any follow up from any of the servers until we pushed our food away and they gave us our check. Also, no limes? At 2pm and there's no limes for our Corona's? My family and I are definitely regulars and the waiters have even come to remember our names, as well as our usual drink and food orders! But, what I love most about this restaurant is that they are extremely willing to accommodate any dietary needs. There are many selections for vegetarians, those watching their weight, as well as people who are gluten intolerant. I love to order a side salad instead of rice and beans, and the waiters always know what I want! The a la carte menu is a classic go to for my parents. What's up with all the bad reviews? Have you been to the taco bar? It's 8.95 for fresh salad, freshly made coleslaw/salsa...chicken, beef..etc. I can get a healthy taco salad with food that tastes like it was just cooked. Of course you get free taco shells, rice beans, chips with the taco bar. I sound crazy but I went there 5 days in a row to get the taco bar! It's only for lunch though. On Sundays, it's even better. I love this place - eat there once a week, and take company there regularly. Great staff, consistent food. It was a little rough for them when they opened a few years back, and occasionally gets screwed up, but we dine here more than any other restaurant. Carne Asada is excellent, so is the tortilla soup. My wife likes the chicken-pineapple dish and when I'm really hungry, I go for the Compadres - Chile Colorado, Chile Verde and Chile Relleno . The bar staff is awesome! read more

This place is below average and very bland. The carnitas were over cooked and lacked flavor. The guacamole was mostly avocado with a tiny bit of tomato and chile pepper flakes. The Mexican t-bone however was delicious. The decor is nice and the people were friendly. I would not return. read more

RATS!! I don't usually write reviews but I feel like this is necessary. We are frequent customers and love watching the games here. But last night changed that when we were sitting in the bar area, and rats were running around on the beams, from the kitchen to the bar to the other side of the building all over just living it up having the times of their life because clearly they have it made living inside a restaurant eating, sleeping, and breeding next to the food we all eat!! We let the waitress know about this about this and she laughed and did nothing about it. Not like there is much she could do about this rat infestation but she could have at least had the courtesy to like give us a discount or maybe just not have us pay at all because the experience we had was disgusting!! I hope people read this and don't go there because there is nothing sanitary about rats running freely in a restaurant. read more
