I work in the area but have not eaten here btwn 6-8 months due to my work schedule. Went today ordered chicken taquitos from lunch menu order was to go. When I opened container you could see rice was dried and had carrots in eat, I never had rice like that in the past. Beans were dry and the tortilla on the taquitos had not been fried and were soft I ate it like a burrito. About an hour after eating I began to feel sick, took an Alka Seltzer and knew once I got home I was going straight to bed. Well I just got done throwing up my lunch. Me being Mexican and knowing what Mexican food should be, or at least try to be, I was pretty disappointed. Puerto Vallarta is a chain, and I get the SAME thing every time. The Verde Enchiladas! I'll be honest in saying that Puerto Vallarta doesn't do anything that sets it apart from other "Mexican" restaurants in Washington. I think Azteca is better, honestly, but this place does a great job to fill the void if you're craving. Like I said, the Verde Enchiladas are always my go-to and they're always tasty! Very typical restaurant chain. I do like the fact that they have somebody out front pressing tortillas and making them as you first walk in that definitely is a eye-catcher. Atmosphere is a very authentic-looking as are most Mexican restaurants. The quality of food is your basic Tex-Mex Style, with reasonable prices. I gave this place for stars because of their Quick Service, and they're friendly staff. It is in my opinion that this place would be good for families, and parties. Our food was phenomenal. We had Erica as a server and she was great as well. I'm vegan and ate deliciously with the veggie fajitas and my bf ordered a combo burrito and relleno meal. Happy hour drinks are water....told waitress that my margarita and my wife's $9.50 daiquiri had no alcohol and flavor and maybe they were virgins. She laughed and walked away, no new drink and still on bill. Food was fair but pricey. I ordered 2 party platters to feed 16 people ( specifically asked how many each party platter served and the gal clearly said 8 so I ordered 2) and I got two small containers with 2 poppers a couple of cheese sticks 1/4 of a mushy sloppy quesadilla and a couple of little things I couldn't tell what they were and looked like they were from the night before. I got 1 very small half filled bag of crumbled stale chips and 2 containers that had a teaspoon of guacamole and a tablespoon of sour cream. I was asked beef or chicken for the tacos and there were NO TACOS in it. I called the store to complain and was told they gave me fiesta platters instead of party platters. They advised they would have management call me to try and make it right as soon as they got in and never got a call back. I had 16 hungry kids for a Halloween party and had to leave the party to get a bunch of pizza at the last minute to try to savage the party. I posted photos so you can see this mess. Our family has been going here for years. The food has always been good, and portions were generous. I just got home with a take out order and am pretty disappointed. I ordered 2 cheese dip appetizers, 2 sides of rice & beans, and a side of flour tortillas. The amount of beans was fine, the servings or rice were a little skimpybut the biggest disappointment was in the cheese dip. The cheese dip used to come in an 8 ounce to go container that was always 1/2-2/3rds full. (On occasion you'd get a full cup woohoo!) tonight the queso came in a much much smaller container (maybe 3 or 4 ounce cup) and wasnt even half full. I tried to call the restaurant several times but the phone just rang and rang. What a disappointment, what a rip off for $42. read more

We normally love this place. Order from them dozens of times during covid. However the last order we received gave me a pretty harsh case of food poisoning. Ordered cheese mole enchiladas (hubby got vegetarian burrito and we shared chips and salsa) hadn't eaten anything yet that day. Got food at 9:30pm. By3am next day I was in and out of bathroom. By 6am, I was in there pretty much permanently.... lucky it was over in about 24 hours. I knew it was only my enchiladas because husband didn't get ill. I've never had this problem from them before; and just because I felt I should alert them (in case anyone else got sick; they could find the cause) I tried calling them when they opened at 11am. First call 11am: no answer. Second call 2:30: rang twice, brief restaurant sounds then *click*. Third call 2:30: eternal ringing. I'm not sure if they were just overwhelmingly busy; but they were impossible to reach. I understand accidents happen; or this could have been a fluke. So I will be ordering from them again someday (they really are yummy) And I will post an updated review when I do feel brave enough to try them again. read more

I come here at least 2-3 times a week for happy hour! Food and drinks are always exceptional! The waitresses and the bartender know me and my husband and if there is not an available table in the bar, they always find us a place to sit. I never have to tell the waitress what I want to drink....she already knows what I like. All of the waitresses are super friendly and always stop by our table to say hi. Sometimes I just stop by for a few drinks and their AWESOME chips and salsa!! When I do order food from the regular menu, it is always exceptional!! I love the fresh tortillas!! So, I'm not sure what the bad reviews were all about....maybe those who have had a bad experience here, need to take a look at themselves and their own personality....the waitresses and bartenders here are AMAZING!! read more

Went there for my birthday dinner and ordered Carna Asada. It was bland, no flavor and rubbery. I didn't eat it and when the rushed crappy waitress finally came over to our table, she asked if I didn't like it, I said no and to just take it back. She wasn't going to offer to take it off my bill, so I made sure to tell her to take it off my bill. She didn't apologize, she wasn't even concerned that a customer was unhappy, she was rushed and acted like we were bothering her. I will NEVER eat there EVER again. My favorite Mexican dish is arose con pollo. Puerto Vallarta has mastered it! Ask for it to have mushrooms, onions, green peppers, olives, and add cheese to it. Of course there is rice, a lovely red sauce, and lots of tender chicken! I've ordered arose con pollo at many other Mexican Restaurants around the country, but None match the wonderfulness of theirs. I usually post some amazing reviews. But this time I'm not going to. Had they fixed the error I may have thought twice. I Called them to place an online order from their menu. They didn't give me a total. I didn't think to ask as the online menu has prices. I went in to get the order and it was $32 for two items. They were priced at $11.99 on the menu. I asked why so expensive. She says to me that the prices changed. I asked her when ? She says a year ago and That the online menu was outdated. The price I was charged was $14.99 each. And the manager behind me making tortillas says to me that the online site has been down for weeks. I let her know i wasn't happy. She wasn't willing to fix it at all. Way to go on customer service. I won't be going back. And will make sure others know as well. I would have accepted at least something ! read more

I ordered the carne asada, and it was too rare (which btw, the server never asked how I'd like it to be cooked). A good carne asada should be flavorful and cooked so that it is not chewy. I read the scathing reviews for this place and avoided going here for the first six months after moving to Covington. After a while, I realized that the parking lot was full just about every night and that it was worth giving it a try. I've been there twice now (and somehow I am the duke??) Each time, the food, service and cleanliness were on par or better than other Mexican restaurants. We were seated quickly, the food came quickly and we were well attended to. They have some really nice original dishes including some pretty good seafood. They also have a full bar, which seems to be rare in Covington. This is at *worst* a 3.5/5 star restaurant but I am giving it 5 stars in hopes that it raises their average so that future patrons like me aren't dissuaded from coming here based on some negative yelp reviews. read more
