Side of Beans

Fabulous Tasty Food! There were many people eating inside and I knew this place was going to be good! It reminds me a lot of El Rinconcito. Same restaurant layout and similar menu. The menu is HUGE so it was hard to order one thing. Good luck! I absolutely loved the side of beans with free never ending chips. I was craving refried beans and wanted authentic flavor. This hit the spot. The chips were perfectly hot and not too oily. Seasoned well. I ate so many free pickled carrots. In fact I ate so many chips and carrots that I never touched the California steak burrito I ordered. I ate that the next day! And it was still very tasty after a little time in the air fryer! You could almost split one burrito into 2 meals! My husband ordered a steak taco salad in a tortilla bowl and a beef tamale. I tried the tamale and it was good, 6 out of 10, but I prefer pork (wasn't an option) and without sauce. The taco salad was fantastic and my husband wolfed it down. The only change he would make was that they should have put more lettuce in it. Oh and the leftover chips made great nachos the next day! But the star of the show was their spicy pineapple salsa/sauce. (You help yourself to it) I've never had that flavor hot sauce before. Spectacular! Spicy but a little sweet and perfectly creamy. I could eat that with everything!!!

I never had an issue with Don Taco. The food is decent enough. My issue today is whether it's ethical to have a posted menu price but charge a higher price. I'm not sure if there are rules about this that businesses are required to follow or not, but I'm irked enough to contact the Covington Chamber of Commerce to find out. An honorable business would change the menu before the price in the register system.

Chili Verde

Okay... first time eating here tonight, and I believe they have newly opened. They refer to themselves as 'fast food' and had a plethora of pictures overhead depicting each dish. I was overwhelmed! My husband ordered a burrito and I ordered chili verde plate ... we ordered at the counter, given cups to fill our drinks, and we found ourselves seats. We found a table up front, and while we waited for our food...I checked out the 'salsa and sauce' bar. They had all the usual suspects, and the hottest labeled with a sticky note. The decor seemed all 'leftover' from the los Cabo's restaurant that was there before, including the specialty tables. Our table tho wiped, was not not done well. My plate of Chili Verdes was Huge... enough to feed four of me. And looked yummy! And first bite.... Was that ... fat? Again, another bite, and this time a lot of fat? Is this what chili verde is suppose to be? I filled a shell, added some sweet salsa and the flavors all came together. It was good. Not extraordinary, ... just good. Hubby's burrito was well made, chocked full of goodin's, with lots of shrimps, evenly sliced veggies. His Horchata (made in house) was tasty, thin, and hadn't had time to seat long enough.... But good. We are going to give these guys a solid 3-4 stars. Not sure if we'll go back or not.... I usually like to give people a second chance. Sooooo

Yummy delicious food! Prices are reasonable, love the salsa bar and they give you chips and salsa every time you are seated.

So much fat, barely any meat.

First time I went here the tacos and burritos were great, good meat and a lot of it. Went back a second time and it seemed like they must have used cheaper pork as the tacos and burrito were full of fat chunks. I know that the pork they use for carnitas is a fatty cut from the pig. But this is beyond that. I went back a third time to see if they had a bad week. Even mentioned the disproportional amount of fat, only to be told it's the cut of meat. The meat wasn't bad at all the first visit. It seems mentioning it made them mad because the $12 burrito we got this time had more fat than meat, the tacos were at least ok. I think it was on purpose because we mentioned how much fat was in our last order and asked for less so they stuffed it in the burrito to be rude. Between tacos and the burrito it was close to $40 each time I visited, needless to say, I won't be going back.

Burrito Plate, Texas Burrito, and complimentary chips/salsa.

Just a huge lover of this place. From the tripas tacos to the pineapple salsa to the unlimited chips. Every time I'm here I'm happy.

This is just a little place I discovered in a strip mall and worth the stop. The pork street tacos are devine!

Wine selection is alright and usually does not disappoint, but they could probably branch out more too. Cocktails are great and their famous tostadas with refried beans and fire roasted salsa served in a molcajete are delicious alternative to chips and salsa. Wish they would just open up for Monday, Tuesday since it's too busy the other days.

The steak and service alone deserve 5 stars alone. The deduction comes from the variability between…read moreother dishes over two visits. The Vacio wagyu is always perfectly tender, and continually warmed on the hot stone with its accompanying salt and chimichurri. That item alone makes me go out of my way to fulfill a craving. An honorable mention goes to their complimentary refried bean tostadas, which is very underrated. The loaded Papa Loca potato is large for sharing, perfectly baked the first time, but underbaked/too starchy the second time. The mushrooms aren't special enough with just a coating of cheese and an unappetizing heavy hand of red pepper flake coating. My toddler honestly has a palate for good burgers, but his dislike was mutual; tasting it it out of curiosity, the wagyu cheeseburger needed more flavor, while the fries seemed over-cooked in old oil. The first time on a weekday, everything seemed great. The second time around for a busy Mother's Day weekend, it just seemed everything was rushed, especially the food preparation.
