The staff at this restaurant was incredibly friendly and attentive, making the overall experience pleasant. However, I must say that the food left much to be desired. I ordered the combo fajitas, which included steak, chicken, and shrimp. Unfortunately, the plate was filled with fajita bits instead of the main ingredients. The steak and chicken were seasoned well, but the pieces were too small. There were plenty of sautéed onions and bell peppers, but the shrimp was the only part that was actually tasty. Food was okay. Server forgot our waters and extra items we requested. We didn't want to bother since we were almost done with our meal. My carne asada burrito barely had any meat in it. Service wise I did have to wait five minutes for somebody to come by. I sat myself. Once they knew I was there. The service was excellent. The restaurant seems clean. As we continue to patronize local restaurants in Maplevalley, I realized we hadn't tried a Mexican restaurant yet. We had dinner at La Fogata last night and it was a great experience. My wife had the taco and tostada combo and loved it. I decided to have the number 23 large combo featuring a taco, tostada, enchilada, and chili relleno. The combo plate was huge! Topped off with rice and beans. This was more than adequate to fill me up. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive and kept our drinks full and cleared any empty place we had. Restaurant was very clean and well organized as where the restrooms. Looking forward to our next dining experience here. Highly recommend. read more

We ordered delivery so we can't comment on the location, or the staff. I ordered the Macho burrito. Portion size is generous and it came with a delicious sauce. Overall, very good flavor and all good quality ingredients. The ground beef had a bit of heat to it, but not too much. Picadillo was well seasoned as well. My wife had the Pollo en Molle. She was very pleased with everything. The prices are comparable with other businesses in the area but rest assured that you'll get your money's worth as the dishes are large. Good chicken enchilada. I like how they serve chips and salsa as soon as you get seated. A plus in my book! I'm from Southern California and I haven't yet found a Mexican restaurant or even a hole in the wall place here in Washington that compares to what Mexican food tastes like where I'm from. I guess I'm pretty biased when it comes to some good Mexican food. Believe me, San Diego CA has the best Mexican food!! Even Texas got nothin on San Diego. Haha. However, La Fogata is my new jam! Didn't eat. No lounge. Had lousy marg. Very nice server. The atmosphere was alright. But dang that was a lousy margarita.

First off, I really love the hot salsa that comes with the chips! Excellent flavor and spicy. Not too watery. Better than most Mexican restaurants I've been to. I decide to go with bacon wrapped prawns based on other reviews here. They did not disappoint. They were crispy, salty, and not a hint of fishy flavor. Just shrimp goodness. They're even better in a corn tortilla with a little rice and salsa! Who knew? Big portion and I was filled up before finishing the plate. My husband loved his cheesy nachos and didn't leave a scrap left. Our friends got the enchilada taco plate. They enjoyed it and had 0 complaints. Gobble gobble. Overall we were really pleased with our service and food. Prices were good and they were out of some beers but that's not their fault. We hope to come back again. read more

Great service and really good food. 10 people in our group and all had excellent meals. I had the Chili Relleno which I devoured. It was stuffed with plenty of cheese and the chili was large. I like a bit more bite, you just never know. The sauce was very flavorful too. The basic beef taco salad was very good and everyone complimented their beans and rice. This was our first visit and I'm wishing we lived closer so we could frequent it. We had pico, salsa and bean dips with their warm chips to start. Theses were all better than ordinary. We actually bought their salsa to-go. My lunch was Molcajete, a wonderful, flavorful beef and chicken stew. There was a little melted cheese on top which made it especially amazing as I stirred it and every bite had some in it amazingly. My main rationale for not giving 5 stars was that they were using a kind of loud vacuum while we were eating/ talking and it wasn't like a kid had just eaten there and it was a mess. The only people who had walked the area they were vacuuming were employees. It was a slow Monday night and I understand that they were perhaps a bit bored. The friendly staff and a clean place aren't enough to compensate for a disappointing meal. We ordered gringo taco salads which come in nice, crisp shells. It was mostly shredded iceberg lettuce, and the flavorless chicken at the bottom was cold, dry, chewy, and terrible. If I took a bite with too much chicken, I had to chew on it forever. Tried this place on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised. My husband ordered their Pork Carnitas and he loved it!! Said it was the most tender he's had in awhile. I ordered the chicken enchilada which was also delicious. Food came out piping hot and lots of flavor. Can't say chips and salsa were anything to write home about. Chips were a bit stale but that just means I ate less carbs! I was also craving some Flan and they were either sold out or just didn't have any so that was a bit disappointing. La Fogata is has tasty Tex-mex styled dishes. Of everything I've tried, the pork carnitas and chile rellenos are my go-to dishes, my family members like the deluxe tostadas. We've never dined in, only to-go. Food is always ready in about 10 minutes. I appreciate the free chips. Some similar style restaurants started to charge for chips and salsa on to-go orders during the pandemic. Good meal for about $15 per person. They have a parking lot shared with other businesses, most of which close around 5. Staff is always masked up, and they have a plexiglass shield up by the cash register with a cup of clean pens. To-go orders are on the table. It's a touchless process, which I appreciate. Go visit the nice folks at La Fogata, and support this small business! read more

Considering it's hard to find great Mexican food this far north and not in California, this place suffices. They are friendly and a good taste for the price. Their salsas and sauce are super flavorful and this place hits the spot when you're looking for a Mexican food experience. The polla a la crema is my favorite and pair with a Shirley temple and kt brings you back to classic family Mexican dining. Chile Relleno must have been leftover like the rest of the entrees. Chimichanga was gloppy. In what place is a Chimi not crispy fried. Sides pretty awful. Chips stale and bland. Salsa like out of a bottle. We can do much finer at home. Dinner for 2 with one margarita $65. So disappointed. read more

If you like the chain Mexicali's restaurants like Azteca, you will like La Fogata. It's pretty much a word-for-word copy. The restaurant is moderately sized but really hidden (location, not so good). It's close to the main road (Maple Valley Highway bear Highway 18 about a half block East of QFC) But absolutely not visible from the road. Without a GPS, I would not have found it. The food is authentic Mexican, but pretty standard fare. You can get seafood enchiladas but not Ceviche. You can get a combo plate of pretty much any combination but if you want a seafood enchilada and a chicken enchilada, that's not available. (We asked). The Tostada is Mexican style (atop a flat tortilla) and is kinda small for the price. The seafood enchilada has no texture. The beans and rice are good, fresh, and ordinary. Best thing about the food was the Salsa. The service is very nice. The decor is brand new (but looks just like every other Mexican restaurant) and the lights are on very bright. As a result, it's clean, but lacks any distinction. No atmosphere. It was a little expensive for the "Azteca Experience" but probably just right for Maple Valley which is a little above average income for Southeast King County. The restaurant was alright but we probably won't be back. read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Maple Valley. We've ordered takeout during COVID, but this was our first inside dining experience since COVID reared its ugly head. It is a local family-owned restaurant with "Americanized" Mexican food. It has all of the traditional choices that we've come to expect. Prices are very reasonable, though they've recently been raised ($2 in dishes that we remembered). That's not surprising, considering the extra effort involved with COVID protocols. We especially appreciate their senior menu. It is a limited menu, with apparently slightly smaller portions. We're very happy that they have survived, when many others have not. Honestly, the best Mexican Restaurant in Maple Valley. The rice here isn't dry or hard like some Mexican places. I like that they don't put peas or carrots in it. I forgot a picture but I got the Enchilada and Chile Rhelleno Combo. Shredded Beef was delicious in the Enchilada. Chile was perfect with the light egg on the outside and yummy melted white cheese in the middle. Beans are awesome too! Chips and Salsa are not too spicy. My husband got the Steak Fajitas and they give you a lot. He had to take half of it home. I ate the rest of mine the next day and it was even more delicious heated up! This is our spot. read more

This place is great! Well priced and delicious La Fogata is everything you need in a local family Mexican restaurant. They may not have the newest trendiest food from Mexico but they'll have the classic favorited you and your extended family will love!
