I use this Publix quite frequently and while it doesn't have everything the bigger stores have, it is great as a neighborhood store and carries the essentials plus more. The customer service at this Publix is very good with the employees being very helpful and courteous. I came in during rush hour for an online sub order. The Deli was swamped and I was expecting delays. I was very proud to see Andrew, one of the Deli managers, step up and make our orders to prevent his team from falling further behind. These small gestures really add up. Yes I would prefer my sub to be done a little more quickly, but you have to be a little patient in the spot sometimes and I'm glad they did the best they could. read more

As soon as I landed and was picked up we headed straight to the Publix. This location felt so upscale but truth be told all locations in Florida feel that way really. I am used to Atlanta Publix. It's different. I will forever say that Florida has everything you can imagine. The variety in their stores are much different than those I Georgia. This store was on the smaller scale. Aisles are narrow however this place packs a punch. Everything is neat and fresh. You have an abundance to choose from. The deli was busy. Aren't they always? They got us out of there in a good amount of time. No worries. The staff was nice. Big kudos to them for having a lot of handicap buggies available. That is so important. The pharmacy at Publix Palmer Ranch, Sarasota is the worst business I have ever encountered in my entire life. A pharmacist I talked to there was rude, ignorant and totally ineffective. In looking for a medication that would offer pain relief as a muscle relaxer, I called my local Publix Pharmacy- wheee I spend $400 weekly on groceries- and was advised to go to this pharmacy as the computer showed they had 90 pills in stock. Upon a discussion with a male pharmacy tech at the new location which is Publix in Siesta Row, I was told he could not sell me ANY of the med as he was "saving it for a regular customer". Keep in mind he could have offered me 5 pills to get me thru until a new order arrived or filled a partial for myself and his "pill pal". It instead was triggered to ask me a condescending "I'm sure you understand". You're big Publix but not that big. If policy allows unprofessional activities like this to continue they should lose their license to dispense medicine or provide any medical services. We were staying in a hotel in Sarasota for a few days and needed to stock our room. I really didn't feel like paying $6 for a bottle of water or $7 for a bag of chips at the hotel so Publix was the first stop on our itinerary. This Publix is smaller than most of their other stores but still has a deli, bakery, meat section, hot prepared foods and also a sushi section. I grabbed some water bottles, sprite, chips and cut up fruit to hold us over in the room. The line for the prepared foods was really long as people were getting subs and chicken wings. The bakery was smelling magnificently fragrant as usual. I dispelled the urge to buy anything, but was eyeing all the baked breakfast options. If our hotel didn't offer a free breakfast I certainly would have grabbed something. If you are vacationing in the Sarasota area definitely check out this Publix so you don't end up spending an arm and a leg on necessities in your hotel. read more

First time ever having a bad experience at a Publix.... Went to the deli for two subs. Waited a bit since deli counter had a few customers so figured it was busy. But Josh from the bakery came to 'check temperatures'. I get it, safety standards but he doesn't even acknowledge me...so asked if he's in bakery. He said 'Wait I'm taking temperatures', took his temps, not even writing any of them down!? He took at least 5-6 temperatures in deli not writing any of them down. So I asked the deli ladies that were helping customers if anyone else was working in bakery. They said yes, Darriel?, he didn't acknowledge me as well and turned around to go back into the backroom..... finally another bakery associate that was carrying deli items in both hands acknowledged me and said 'hi, I'll be with you in one second' she put her items away and took care of my order! Super nice, great customer service!! Asked Josh to call manager,l but no one showed up... found a manager but he was too busy in a corner on his phone to even acknowledge me, just said that he'll take care of it....end of conversation.... read more

The deli employees working right now are extremely rude 5/9 at 1:25pm. I came in to buy a couple of subs and noticed that there was only 1 wheat sub in the case and no other bread in sight. I asked if there was any more bread and the lady with missing teeth mumbled "No we only have this 1 1/2 piece of wheat" I looked around kind of shocked and said "Ok, thank you" and turned to walk away. The toothless woman then decided she'd start in with "It's not my fault we ain't got no bread" in a nice mumbling sarcastic attitude and tone while another lady 2 people away started in with "Not our fault we ain't got no bread" and then they're both simultaneously talking smack to me about how it's not their fault there is t any bread as if I made some kind of wild accusation that the lack of bread was their fault. Extremely off putting and strange experience, I won't be returning. This place reminds me of what the area Wendy's has turned into- only employs trash. read more

The Publix Pharmacy here is superb. The pharmacists are friendly and handle the stress extremely well. The last three times I have been in, they have filled my prescriptions while I shopped. THE SUBS!!!!! Each week they have a sub on sale. Get it. Trust me on this. I always get the Five grain bread. Crunchy and chewy. And holds up pretty good with all the veggies and vinegar. If you are a lightweight (not me) get the veggies on the side and no sauces (mayo/mustard/vinegar packs available) so eat half and save the other half for later. It will still be good! Also look for the guava and cheese turnovers. In the box they are cheaper, two for $2.79, but they sell out often. So you can get slightly bigger ones in the case for $1.79 each. Still good and so flaky. The filo is slightly salty and the filling just barely sweet. So perfect. read more

Wont be shopping here again. First and last time. I went in to get a few items while travelling. The cashier did a full on FBI, CIA, IRS inspection of my $20 bill as if it was counterfeit. Pretty embarrassing to be treated like thsy. I felt sick to my stomach walking back to my hotel. Publix just gets worse and worse every year, and more outrageously expensive. I think at this point they are unnecessarily gouging their customers...because they can, being the largest grocery chain in the area with little competition. What a shame! The produce selection is awful and not fresh and good. I could not even buy a fresh romaine lettuce. Every lettuce was packaged except for one type of lettuce (iceberg) and they were small and browning. Publix takes a lot of shelf room for their own products, over some of the better traditional brands. The juices were a dollar more than other places, and the deli selection was outrageously expensive for the brands. The last time I was in the store, I asked three employees where the mozzarella cheese was and they did not know.....The help in the store has no idea where anything is, if you ask them, or what many of the food items even are! I will travel farther to try other options, although there are few. read more

As usual publix is great. As for this store the size is too small. Aisle are very narrow and the area for the deli is so small the line times sideways because you can not get through with a cart. Now mind you this store is a few blocks from the beach so they get a good amount of customers. They still have a great selection of items but the for sure do not carry as much as the regular size publix's. I was very surprised in a good way at the selection of their sushi section. Many, many different types to choose from but then again this does seem like a store where people are picking up things to eat on the go. Employees were very nice and explained where you should go in the area to enjoy the most it has to offer. read more

They "require" masks to shop in their stores. At least that's what it says on their entrance doors and website. Yet every time I've gone in, there is one (or more) people shopping without a mask. I pointed such a shopper out to a manager and she said there was nothing she could do, because corporate hasn't given them permission to do anything. So I called their corporate office and spoke to a customer service manager. I asked, "Are masks required in your stores?" He said, "Yes." I then described what the manager had told me. So I asked, "What are your stores directed to do when a person refuses to wear a mask?" He hemmed and hawed and then said someone would have to get back to me. The next day I got an email from their national public relations person, Maria Brous. She wrote, "We conform to all CDC recommendations." Obviously, she didn't answer the question. So I emailed her back and asked the question again. No reply. Publix is exposing their own employees (and customers) to a higher level of risk because they don't have the spine to enforce a very important public health measure. Costco does it - why not them? On the basis of this issue alone, Publix is a lousy corporation. read more

I love the Store but the Pharmacist Michael Christopher is absolutely terrible. He refused to fill my prescription even though I had been coming there for 2 years, he refused to call another Publix to find out if they had the drugs I needed. He said it was not his job even when other pharmacists in this location have always called other publix locations to find out if the drug was available. I explained that I was moving the next day and had called a week prior to have the prescription filled with no call back. One of the medications causes a stroke if not taken regularly. I explained this, he finally agreed to use his finger to press one button on the phone to find out if another Publix had my meds but not before he filled 5 other prescriptions which would take about an hour. This is outrageous and I have never submitted an online complaint but this is what people should expect from this guy. I went to America's Best Pharmacy right after and they filled it within 10 minutes. DO NOT GO HERE AS LONG AS THIS PHARMACIST IS EMPLOYED AT THIS PUBLIX. He doesn't care, is lazy and without any logic, compassion or common sense. read more

I love publix and the subs will always be amazing but the customer service I just experienced from Eileen was beyond terrible. She got an attitude because I asked how her day was going. REALLY who is the customer here. Then she had this nasty apron on with a big badge on it touching all over my sandwich. INFECTION CONTROL. I called the manager he did not seem too concern with the infection control issue, that's just sad. She is not allowed to make me a sandwich ever again. read more
