Dear Publix, we need to talk. I don't usually write reviews, but after my most recent experience with your "iconic" chicken tender sub, I am writing this with shaking hands, tears in my eyes, and $11.49 I'll never get back. I need corporate. I need answers. I need reparations. Let me start by saying this: I have tried--TRIED--to understand the cult-like obsession with this sub. People act like it's the second coming of Christ in a hoagie roll. I've seen people wear merch for this thing. MERCH. I saw a grown man get emotional describing it once. So I said, "Fine. I'll try it again. Maybe I just had a bad one before." Big mistake. Huge. I waited one full hour. An entire episode of Dateline. Standing there watching the sandwich staff move like they were performing an interpretive dance about sloths on sedatives. They had NO sense of urgency. None. It was like they were building a sub from memory in a dream. Finally, my name is called. I walk up thinking I'm about to experience greatness. Instead, I'm handed a lukewarm carb coffin stuffed with dry, joyless chicken tenders and lettuce that looked like it had been emotionally neglected. I got sauce. I GOT SAUCE. It was still so dry I almost pulled a muscle trying to swallow it. You know what it tasted like? Sadness. Like someone whispered "flavor" near it once in 2014 and that was the last time it felt alive. And don't get me started on the "house-made" sauce--it tastes like they snuck into aisle 3, stole some store-brand dressing, added a dash of audacity, and called it a day. Every time I try to give this sub another chance, it lets me down harder than my ex who "forgot" my birthday. The bread? Stale. The chicken? Soulless. The price? Delusional. I paid double digits for a sandwich that fell apart faster than my last relationship. Everything spilled out the sides like it was trying to escape its own fate. I had to eat it hunched over like a raccoon by a storm drain. I am humiliated. Publix, I am BEGGING you--take this sandwich off life support. It's time. We need to let it go. 0/10. Over the years I have watched this Publix spiral downward. Several months ago I spoke to the regional manager for Publix in this area and relayed some experiences I have had here and that I have been shopping more at Winndixie and other markets. I did this only as a customer that used to think Publix was amazing and to let him know why I have changed my mind. I still shop here sometimes, out of convenience, and today I was reminded why I avoid this location and try to find other options than Publix. I am a realistic shopper it is right before the holiday and it was 7:15pm. One of the employees had removed all of the sale signs from the cheese isle so I attempted to have him look through his basket to tell me what was on sale this week. That was an excersize in futility so I gave up. Not a big deal, just aggravating. I went over to the Chicken section to get some BoGo boneless breasts and a sale on ham caught my eye. While I was looking the employee next to me was arranging the Chicken on the shelf next to me. Another employee came out and said... " Hey did you see the Cockroaches on the chicken back there ?" " No I didn't see any" ( head tilt towards me) " Oh yeah I didnt see any cockroaches either" They bantered back and forth a bit more and I walked away. Needless to say I did not buy any Chicken and as I left the isle the two young men laughed behind me. Yes, oops that was funny! I did talk to a supervisor on my way out. Relayed this experience to him. He didnt ask for my name. Phone number, who the employees were, Nothing. As I left I expected the manager to come over because he was talking to her right after. Noone cared. No one asked. Please get an exterminator Publix and talk to your employees about the "Curtain" between the consumer and the company. We were here shopping for Instacart. Otherwise we actively avoid this store as one of the baggers was extremely rude and insulted my Fiancé. However we came here because of the job. We picked up the order at 10.36 and there were 4 deli items for pick up. The total wait time for our order was 45 mins. There was no apology just the excuse of "oh we didn't see it". Although this Publix is my least favorite, it's clean, priced right, food is A+ quality, and I can get anything I need here, the cashier's check you out with a smile, and then something magic happens: The person who bagged your groceries will, without provocation, walk your groceries out to your car and load them into your trunk.....with a smile and conversation! That's so nice! In California you were on your own! You were lucky if they loaded your groceries at all and yea, I would like my stuff in a bag lol! In California, no one would EVER ask if I needed any help! These guys just do it! And if you try to tip them, they won't take it! Seriously though, this grocery chain has great prices. I can load a whole grocery cart to the top and pay $100 less than in California. Love their fresh Italian bread! So good! And their meat selection is superb. It's like a Whole Foods quality inside there. The seafood is different cause we're now on the Atlantic Ocean. We see a lot of different fish here, and it's all very fresh! Publix is in decline it is a shame for I know this was the gold standard for groceries, yes a little more expensive but used to be worth it. My recent experience is as follows, I went to deli to order a sub, standing there waiting for assistance watching everyone behind counter ignoring me feeling that I was invisible. The worst part is when another gentleman walked up after me, he was greeted with "What can help you with" Unfortunately this is not a one off event but a growing trend. Publix is always a go to for a quick family meal when we don't feel like cooking. This store is always clean and of course the staff are always polite and courteous. We had stopped by the ready mart to pick up chicken tenders and chicken wings. For some reason the wings and the tenders just seemed to taste flavorless. This has happened on two different occasions. The tenders are very big and the wings are meaty but the flavor is just lacking... there does not seem to be any seasonings used in the coatings. For a quick meal it's worth it but not something to make a regular enough purchase though. Can't go wrong with a slice of red velvet cake or some fresh fruit though. read more

The Publix in Riverview has a problem with its deli always being understaffed. The waits are often upwards of 20 min to get taken care of. Look for a manager? You won't find one! Once the pandemic began the shelves became bare. No rice, macroni, dog food, paper products, cleaning products,frozen vegetables, frozen dinners etc. etc. But go to Walmart grocery and they have it all. Much better stocked at Winn Dixie and Aldi's also. When I inquire, they explain that everything is done by computer and they get what they get and can not change it! I stopped in at Publix hoping to pick up some food that wouldn't kill me. The organic section is minuscule and way overpriced. Non organic Hoss Avocados were $1.50 each for the tiny ones. Pretty good as supermarkets go. Nothing special, just the one we prefer. Perhaps because they have a bit of a better selection than most, so from time to time we do have to go elsewhere for certain items we like. Employees are good, except for the slow cranky fish guy. Deli staff are always unhappy. They seem overwhelmed and mismanaged. If they weren't so close to home I would shop somewhere else.

I don't know what in the hell is wrong with the people working the seafood counter. Twice I bought fish there only to get home and unwrap it to an awful red tide smell of week old dead fish sitting in the sun. Can't they smell what they are selling! It is in plastic then paper so I can't smell it until I get home. Who in the hell wants to get back in their car and bring it back for a refund. I hold the seafood manager and store manager accountable for selling this foul smelling fish just to turn a profit. Maybe they should order less and more often, maybe they should ice it down at night like restaurants do, or maybe throw it away when it is on the verge of spoiling!!!!!!! read more

Was just in there at 11 am on Jan 6th, the one lady had absolutely no clue as to where certain items were located or if they carried an item, like for instance a 3 musketeer - REALLY. I'll take my business else where, perhaps give your employees some training add to where items are located. read more

I like public market. The food and veggies are always fresh but s little more expensive then any other grocery market. It's clean and the staff their are always helpful. I'm glad it's close to our house. I love the Deli... Make your own sandwich anyway you like. I love the freshness of the food. read more

Clean store with helpful and available employees. Most of the time when there's lines you hear them calling to get help up front. Only negative is the deli area has lines and is always very busy...but the food in the deli is very good and reasonable. read more

I love my local Publix! The store is always clean, the prices are right, I can use any coupons and the employees are eager to help at any moment. I appreciate that the specialty counters are set up right at opening, unlike the nearest competitor that takes an hour after opening to set up the meat counter. The online deli ordering system is amazing, and my order is always completed ahead of schedule, clearly marked and in the proper receptacle. Their deli items are fresh, the produce is continually being stocked and the meat counter has a better selection the "the beef people" in my opinion. The only thing keeping me from a five star rating is the milk :( I would like to purchase multiple gallons at a time of the Publix Greenwise 1%, but it is not consistently available at this location. I am at this store at least once a week and there is a price tag on the shelf for this product, but nothing is shelved. This leaves me to either compromise for a different variation or band of milk or go to another location to pick up my milk. I really do prefer this location, I do not like doing my main shopping at any other location because I am very familiar with the layout of this store. read more
