6-star ambience, 5-star products, 2-to-3-star service. Amazing Space Age design (we call it the space ship Publix) with the usual great Publix produce / selection, possibly occasional celebrity sightings but strangely bad service, especially for a Publix. The star of this show is the stunning architecture and design. It's very near my partner's medical practice, so I both drive by and go in this particular Publix often; so does he. It's likely the most beautiful grocery store on the planet, truly a triumph of design. It's in a very new, swanky area of M Beach, and the soaring, curved aluminum facade fits right in with the neighborhood. The clever design includes a parking deck above on the 2nd and 3rd floors, with sloping moving sidewalks instead of escalators to accommodate shopping carts. They have the usual terrific produce and an even bigger selection of staples than the average Publix. Prices are a little aggressive, but the real estate is likely expensive and there's the beach premium thrown into the mix. Added bonuses are the celebrity sighting possibilities and the floor show of fabulous types plus wannabes ("hey is that J. Lo? but that dude doesn't look like A Rod"). FYI: it was...I admit I sort of followed her around in Publix. The one fly in the ointment is the poor service. As mentioned, I go into this particular Publix often, and this is a recurring problem. It's odd, because Publix normally has abnormally good service. Small example: in the average Publix if you ask where something is, they'll more than likely take you to aisle 4 and find the shelf location with you; this Publix you get a Winn Dixie-like response of "I don't know, try aisle 4 or 5" without even a glance away from the personal conversation with their co-worker. With the cashiers you're lucky if you get a single word out of them; most Publix they get chatty, and you almost always get a thanks come again / have a nice weekend / stay safe. People pay a bit more for better/friendlier service than that at Publix. read more

I have been shopping here for 19 years and this store has gone from 5-stars to 1-star. (My last review in 2019 was 3 stars). So much wrong with this store. --First, parking. The garage is always jammed with non-customers (I see them leaving with their yoga mats or coming back from work somewhere. So we regular customers have to travel up to the roof level and park in the hot sun or rain. Lighting is awful. Health and safety hazard. --Only one hot, slow (hydraulic) elevator. The second elevator has been broken for WEEKS. So long waits. The old escalator, which was out of order half the time, has been torn out and a new one is being installed, maybe next year. I never see any workers or progress. Older people have problems with the stairs. This is like third world country stuff. --Prices are outrageous. I mean $1.01 for a single lemon? 75 cents for a lime? $3.35 for a pint of half and half? Trader Joe's is cheaper. Whole Foods is comparable or a little lower on produce and meats. I used to do 100% of my shopping at Publix, but now maybe a third? I've added Costco, Aldi, TJ's, Fresh Market, and Wal-Mart to my list of [preferred stores. --Service can be slow especially at the deli counter which I now avoid. Only 3 of 6 self checkouts working today, no express line, and regular checkout clogged. --Since the pandemic they seem to have cut back on the number of items they carry, so often have to go elsewhere or order from Amazon Fresh. --Overscans seem more frequent. I hope management can get this store fixed. Shame to have such a potentially nice store nearby in such an awful state. read more

Mostly this is an ok Publix, but I had a negative experience with an employee today who should be reprimanded. I was looking for items in the frozen food case. He was nearby mopping the floor. He suddenly shouted "you can't be there, I'm mopping up water. Do you want something out of there?" I told him I did and he again rudely shouted "what do you want? You can't stand there. Tell me what you want!" I told him and he grabbed my items and threw them into my basket. As I walked away he turned to me and said "you can't just go there" referring to the freezer case. I responded "I can and will go there if you expect me to do my grocery shopping. That's why I'm here! I walked away. What ever happened to "be careful of the water on the floor?" Can I help you with something? Here, let me get that for you? That's the type of customer service we should expect when spending our dollars to pay that employee's wages. I'm getting so tired of bad behavior being rampant and tolerated everywhere. People need to be held accountable for bad behavior, rewarded for good service, and trained in good service. I hope Publix reprimands the employee who was mopping up water near the frozen food case at about 3:00 this afternoon! read more

Beware of the gift card situation. Bought a $50.00 gift card from this Publix and when i went to use it -- said there was only .99cents on the card. Went back to Publix and after a huge long story about cards being hacked and others having the same problem -- they declined to refund or replace the card. So I lost $49.01 in this scam. Also not sure why there's never more than one cashier during the busiest time. LOADS of employees hanging around the customer service counter and standing around, but no cashiers. If you order a sub from the deli online make sure that you don't arrive on time because it won't be ready. Ever. read more

The service can use some upgrade. This has been our Publix for the last 6 years and that's in my opinion their main flaw. Deli department has improved a little bit, food quality as well, however the cashiers can use some customer service training, specially one name Lydia, if you need to ask for something don't waste your time, she ain't good at multitasking or helping. There's two Publix basically two blocks from each other in this neighborhood -- and this one is the better of the two. Much bigger, wide spacious aisles, easy parking in a covered garage, fast check out lanes, and the staff and managers are all super helpful. Chia seeds? Oh, yes sir -- Aisle two. Thank you, my friend! And it's got a pretty stand up clientele. Pretty much all through COVID, the people at this store took it upon themselves to wear a lot of masks, whether it was required or not. This is my local Publix so it gets three stars because it's within walking distance. But otherwise it is one of the poorest examples of a store in this chain. Selection of healthy and organic products is really tiny, the produce is usually too green or over ripe and it is laid out in a way that you would have thought they decided to "let's confuse the customers" No pharmacy, no coffee area, and often long lines Some of the people who work here are super nice, but it doesn't quite make up for the shortcomings of the store itself. With Whole Foods only 4 blocks away and Trader Joe's coming soon, this Publix really has to pick up its game to remain competitive. There is only one pharmacist, and if you get there to collect medication that's just been prescribed and he has gone on break... you will have to stand around waiting for him to return. And the parking isn't that much of a convenience either - since they're kind of cramped like sardines inside the garage. However, I seem to always find a parking spot so that's okay with me. I come to this public over the fifth street one because it is quieter and so much easier to get though. Everything I want is in stock, the fruits and veggies are fresh and yummy. There are things that I specifically go to whole foods for, but most of my shopping needs are met right here. I was in this morning and was able to complete a large enough shopping spree to cook for a thanksgiving party. Yes, it was early so the crowds were thin, but there were tons of staff. On guy even came up to me just to see if I needed help ang grabbed a couple items on my list. Go Publix customer care. The check out was smooth and oddly there were two bag boys. There is the downside. If you stop here after work, there is a crowd and the lines, though not bad, are longer. Park on the roof level. The manager at the Publix deli is a lifesaver! I called on the morning of a wedding to place an order for 24 people which would normally take 2-3 days advance notice but the manager was so kind and willing to help. This Publix, which we refer to as the Guggenheim Publix, isn't anywhere near my house, but I go here because they have the best selection. That being said, they were totally out of the Gen Soy bars and Greek yogurt that I always get yesterday. But I can overlook this sin. Compared to other Publix's, this one has the freshest produce, a larger "green" section, more baby supplies and a better layout. The parking lot isn't a nightmare either. You can actually find a place to park (on South Beach--a rarity, I know). Plus, this one has the best mac and cheese, hands down. It's ooey, gooey, greasy good. read more

It is frequented by many celebs, like the time I saw Lenny Kravitz there and the other time I saw Paulina Rubio. There was a time, before I ever discovered that there were lands of nicer, kinder, more progressive people, that I was comforted when I would find a Publix. It was familiar and cool. It had everything I needed. My how things (my perspectives, mostly) have changed. We were all excited when it was first built - a boat Publix! How cool!. But since then, it's drifted towards it's neighbor down the street - worn, dirty, a bit downtrodden and sad. Shopping certainly isn't a pleasure. I won't go to the bathrooms there anymore. And the staff, rude, careless, and apathetic. To be fair, that's how I view most grocery stores in South Florida, it's just that this is the one I go to more often (Epicure certainly doesn't have Publix's filth level, but it's SOOOO expensive that it's basically out of range). My most recent weird staff experience with Publix was the other morning. I was there right when it opened. Lots of staff stocking stuff, very few customers. I was wheeling through an aisle, and came upon three staff (one looked to be a manager) in a discussion in the middle of the aisle. When I reached them their discussion was ending and they were breaking up, but no one bothered to move around me, rather they made me manuveur around them. No one smiled, no one said "Good morning" or "Can I help you". No one said "excuse me". Their customers are nicer than that band of staff was. The level of rudeness was pretty remarkable - but could be considered very Miami. I'm glad to be gone, in a community where grocery stores compete with each other based on customer service. Yes, sometimes they go overboard with the smiles and banter, and opening products so you can taste before buying, but boy, could Publix take some lessons! read more

I never really come to this Publix because I hate the whole "drive up into a garage to do my grocery shopping" thing so I usually just go to the Publix on Dade Blvd where I can easily park right in front of the store. I had time to kill last night so ahhh what the hell. Why not? What have I been missing? I don't remember it as awesome as it is! HUGE! They have so many more items here and specialty foods. The counters are stacked and clean as can be. The aisles are organized and neat. I can easily spend 2 hours here. Yea, that's why I don't come here. This is my preferred local Publix, which I refer to as the "Spaceship Publix," and which others I know call the "Jetsons Publix." These terms, of course, refer to its outward appearance. But inside, it's well-stocked, including some of those hard-to-find items that may be lacking at other area Publix. Parking is in an attached garage, which you get to by driving up a very steep ramp, which then lets you out on the 2nd floor. There's also a 3rd floor, though I've rarely had to drive all the way up to find a spot. On weeknights and weekend days, this place gets back, so if you're headed there during these peak hours, keep that in mind. They always have a decent amount of check-out lanes open. But they never seem to have enough people manning the deli. So if you need some fresh sliced meat or cheese, be prepared to wait. One of the main reasons I love this Publix is their hidden British food section - located in the cereal aisle. You can get real Cadbury chocolate (in its many candy bar forms), PG tips tea, HP sauce, random British canned goods, and other assorted things. Another great thing is their Greenwise selection, which always seems to have new and exciting things for me to try. Even the briefest trip to this Publix seems to take at least 45 minutes for me. So if you head here, don't expect to get in-and-out in a jiffy. read more

Publix has always been my fav supermarket but I LOOOVE this particular location. I had to write a review. It's on West Ave, walking distance from where I live. I can also hop on a bus and be there in less than 5 min. It has a bus stop right in front of the store. If you want to drive, they have about 2 to 3 floors of free parking. When I entered into this Publix for the first time, I fell in love with it. It pretty much has EVERYTHING you'd ever need plus more. They even have a small section of about 4-6 shelves of 'Made in England' products....who knew? I also noticed that the bakery and produce sections are much better & bigger than the 'old' Publix on Dade Blvd. The 'Greenwise' (Publix's version of Whole Foods) section is definitely one of the biggest I've ever seen. I just love the layout. It's bright and very clean. Oh the people......I love the diversity you'll see there - many nationalities, ethnicities, religions, and lifestyles...all under one roof. I have heard that celebrities, models, and famous people are known to come in there a lot but I haven't seen any yet (I guess because I was in awe as I walked up and down each aisle). :P Seriously, they should close down the old Publix on Dade Blvd and just have this one. read more

Miami Beach West A Ave - There are now three Publix grocery stores on South Beach. This one is just blocks from the Dade Blvd store which is closer to Lincoln Road. This is the store with the parking garage and the escalator for shopping carts. It caters to the upscale South Beachers. My W says that they have a very nice bakery compared to our Publix on Biscayne Blvd. I have found some products here such as Good Earth Tea that I can't find at other Publix Stores. I wouldn't shop here on Saturday or Sunday afternoons as you can expect it to be very crowded. For parking, drive up to the second or third floor parking garage, it's free. Either find a shopping cart and take the elevator down to the first floor entrance or take the stairs down and find a cart on the first floor, if you can. After you have made your purchases, you either take the shopping cart escalator/conveyor belt back to your car or take the elevator. There is also metered parking on the street if you don't want to use the free parking garage. read more

Let me start this with the fact that I absolutely LOATHE going to the grocery store.....so for me to give a 3 I guess it might be as good as it will get...since I'll never be a fan of grocery shopping.... Pretty standard grocery store. This location is almost always busy, I think it's because everyone is obsessed with the conveyor belt you can go up on with your grocery cart to leave the place. Anyhow, most of the time the store is in pretty good running order. On a number of occasions I have picked up expired yogurts or dairy products, luckily noticing at the store - so check your dates before placing them in your cart. On the plus side they have pretty good prices and rotate sale items pretty regularly. The check out people are pretty quick most of the time & a couple of times the bagger people helped me bring my stuff to my car (when it was raining, which I thought was nice). For now, this is my standard store, although I am anxiously awaiting the new one to open at 5th & Alton, then I won't have to go in a parking structure that everyone drives like a maniac in! read more

Well since I live in the neighborhood and have been coming to this Publix a few times a week for the past 6 years, I figured it's time for a review. The building is very contemporary, with a stainless steel skin like the new Guggenheim museum in Bilbao. It's clean, modern, has a good selection of gourmet products and the staff is helpful and friendly , but what sets it apart are the shoppers--it is the best people watching Publix anywhere. Situated in the affluent Sunset Harbor neighborhood, the clientele is a mix of stylish Europeans, the rich and fabulous, models ,celebrities, fashionistas and hipsters. I saw Hulk Hogan and Lenny Kravitz there. My son loves the magic carpet escalator that takes you to the rooftop parking garage. read more
