Alton Rd CVS Pharmacy is the least helpful and unnecessarily inflammatory team of people I have ever tried to get a prescription filled with, at any pharmacy across the country, ever. They were not honest about when an important medication would be available, and did not offer to send the prescription to another pharmacy that could help. I waited 4 days, and returned every day to check, then I received a text message saying the prescription was ready for pick up and I went to pick it up. They told me they didn't have any prescription at all for me and I showed them the text message, they claimed my Dr. cancelled the prescription, when in actuality it had expired due to their negligence. This behavior is dangerous and could be life threatening, given the time sensitive nature of some prescriptions. I would not entrust this team with my best interests or health. read more

A few weeks ago a man at the printing counter went above and beyond trying to help me and the manager Daniel has been super helpful as well. They always have everything I need in stock. If I could give zero stars I would. Unfortunate this is my neighborhood pharmacy, but I try to go as infrequently as I can. Absolute worst pharmacy experience I've ever had. A male Latin pharmacist was incredibly rude (I don't think he's there) not even taking my prescription and shooing me away to another pharmacy. The technician Juan is also very rude. I sat at his window for several minutes without him even looking up to acknowledge me or ask me to wait while he finished up whatever was so important. When he did finally acknowledge me it was with a "yes?" As if I was bothering him. When I asked if I could pay for my items, he very rudely told me to pay for them up front because he had "other customers." Am I not a paying customer? How long does it take to ring up a few items? They are frequently out of medication, put important refills on "hold" for literally no reason often time leading to emergencies or having to constantly check up on them to do their effing jobs. The store is big organize and there is always an employee to welcome you upon entering the store. Price is ok (more expensive than your local grocery store) but sometimes it's all about convenience. The problem is always the bathrooms! Very filthy and unmaintained! I can't even begin to describe how dirty and in functioning. The bathrooms should be normally cleaned few times a day not once a week! (According to the chart - I took a picture). And it gets more interesting: the bathroom was ONLY CLEANED ONCE IN APRIL!. Prescription not ready even though the text said it was. Feels like staff don't care to work.

I went to this Cvs this morning to pick up money gram for $60. I am visiting from Mich. I went to the cashier to advise. She entered the 8 digit code and the system said incorrect information. The code was correct. I went to another cvs on Lincoln and Colin's same thing. I advised my relative to check to see why I was coming up incorrectly on systems. He sent the funds from Mich. He went back to the store and the manager said the only thing she could see was I did not enter my information at the kiosk before going to the register to pick it up. Unfortunately I asked the manager to assist and he said I had to call money gram. It is a shame that I went to two cvs and no one knew to ask me if I went to the kiosk first. In addition I went to the cvs on Washington st and 5th and the girl told me they only send money gram and you could not pick up cash through mg. I see why mg gets a bad name. The people selling need training. Nothing but robots running around. Lines at the counters one rep on register and people putting up stock and asking you to go to the self serve as they watch you. Horrible, employees are useless, they don't know anything, you get different answers from different employees, pharmacy ordered a HEP A vaccine and told me to return on a certain date, than they don't even find the order. Told me they can't check availability on other locations, which is not true. I'm am disabled and used the cart to put all my items in. I browse all the aisles and make a morning of it. I spend all my money there on the cosmetics and I am ok with that. I bring bags to make sure I can carry what I gathered and before I even attempted to check out and pay, they accused me of stealing and took my bags from me. I can barely walk, so I wasn't going anywhere with my bags while browsing and they stole my bags and took my cart and asked me to leave. They didn't want to put away what I didn't end up wanting to buy and said it was unacceptable that I put it in my cart. The whole experience was unpleasant and bizarre and illegal to treat a customer in that manner. Especially a disabled one. They threw my personal bags out in the trash. Took my cart from me. And accused me of stealing with out any attempt to walk out of store. Said I had been there too long. Which there is no rule on how I want to leisurely walk through a store. I was looking up some Amazon reviews as I shopped and they said this isnt allowed and has to be done before coming shopping. All made up rules. Disgusting people. I am in touch with corporate for entire morning team there to be fired but still thought everyone should know. read more

Reminds me of a crappy local carnival. There are always long lines that are hardly worth the wait. However, there is likely to be some entertainment during this time, especially at night. I've seen some pretty crazy characters hanging out here that could possibly be part of a freak show. The pharmacy makes me think of a magic act. After picking up my monthly prescription from another location ONE time, it seemed to disappear. Pharmacist #1 told me that it was going to take a while to transfer it and that it would be ready the next day. TWO days later, it wasn't ready when I arrived but luckily I spoke to Pharmacist #2 who must have performed some magic to made my prescription re-appear. But wait, you can win prizes! The one thing I do like about this place is that if you get & use a CVS card, sometimes you will get useful coupons and discounts on your receipts to redeem with future purchases. read more

This review its only for the pharmacy. This pharmacy to me its best around (South Beach), the staff its always willing to help you with any questions you may have and give you guidence. They are very freindly, they dont mind calling your doctor and what ever time they promised you , rest asure that your medication will be ready. I just wish that they would stay opened longer. Long lines at the front and invariably a customer having problems with a coupon or some over scan so allow for some time. The credit card swipe devices do not align with the registers, so you have to step away from your checker to complete a transaction. The front-of-store staff can be a little surly at times. The pharmacy folks are o.k., but they get snippy if you ask about prices (my plan has a huge deductible, so I 'm basically out of pocket on RX). Prices at Wal-Mart, Target, Costco and Publix are usually cheaper. Positives: convenient and always-available-parking. Not as junky-looking as Walgreen's. I think it is the fact you can see over the aisles. read more

I had a passport photo taken here and the quality was unforgiving. Although the gentleman was very nice during the process, this is one service I won't be seeking this place of business again. Seems like they always need more cashiers here too. I don't know if that's a general drug store trait or not, go figure. This is an incredibly busy cvs that always seems to be packed with beach going tourists. Not that this is a bad thing but it does hamper quick in out trips. Still, this is my favorite cvs. The pharmacy in the back has an excellent staff who are willing to come out from around the counter to help you with all of your medical questions. I have bought a few ice packs, and heating pads here recently and when I asked the pharmacist to help me with getting the right ones, he had another pharmacist help me who uses the items. He was knowledgable, helpful and nice. Of course they also recommend which medicines to take for what ails you. Prescriptions are filled quickly, and correctly (a very important quality). As for the rest of the cvs, the place is well stocked, well organized and well staffed. I never had an issue here, and often stop in for the little things after work (which avoids the tourist lines). read more

This is my neighborhood CVS. Great location and adequately stocked. It has own parking lot which makes for easy access on sobe. Also used as my pharmacy. Love the automatic monthly refill and text message notifications when the prescription is ready. Why not five stars you ask.... because it's a CVS. There is always room for improvement. When is a drug store not just a drug store? When you always end up waiting in long lines just to pick up a couple of things. That is my main gripe about this CVS. It's always very busy, no matter what time of day, but somehow they can't or won't staff the store adequately. Some of the pharmacy staff members are friendly and polite, but some are not. They have also called to inform me my perscription is ready only for me to discover when I arrive that it is not. On the plus side, they are conveniently located, are open late, and allow your dog to join you inside while you shop. I was pleasantly surprised to be approached by the store manager as I waited outside with my pup and told he was welcome in the store. They are also faster with perscription service than the Walgreen's down the street. Now, if only they sold liquor... read more

I must say, now that this is the closest CVS to my house, I'm very disappointed in their selection of products. I wanted to get some ice cube trays, and they were nowhere to be found. I wanted to get a box of kleenex, but had to walk up and down the aisles till I finally found their paltry selection. I wanted to get a thing of milk, but my only choices were either a gallon or a 16-oz container. Where are the half-gallons when you need them?! I also wanted to get some Vitamin water, but the only flavor they had cold was the weird-Tang-tasting one. And the warm ones were the huge bottles. Boo! Recently my health plans switched to CVS Caremark for mailorder. One of the touted benefits was being able to take an Rx for a 90 day supply to be filled at the local CVS Pharmacy and having it then automatically added to mail order through Caremark for future direct shipping, as opposed to having to mail in 90 day supply prescriptions. This pharmacy filled my 90 day script with a 30 day supply. I didn't notice until I got home, and called the pharmacy. They said they could only fill a 30 day supply. I called Caremark, and they said it was an error and I should return to the pharmacy (after they spoke with the pharmacy directly no less) and pick up the remaining pills as they would only be able to mail 30 day supplies on the refills unless CVS corrected the error. They gave me the name of the Alton Road pharmacy manager (Martin) and told me to speak with him directly about the mistake. I called him today and he said they couldn't dispense the remaining pills, but they could refund my money and transfer the prescriptions to Caremark if I brought back the medications. So I did. He refunded my money and said, okay just have Caremark call me and I will transfer the prescriptions to them. I had already been told by a Caremark Supervisor that they do not make outgoing calls and so CVS would have to call them. Martin said he couldn't do that and that Caremark calls them all of the time. SO, I called the number Caremark had told me CVS needed to call. I was immediately told the pharmacy needed to call them. I told them the pharmacist refused to call them. I put them on speaker phone and the Caremark Supervisor repeated that CVS needed call them. The pharmacist still refused. The Caremark Supervisor then told us there was no reason by Florida Law that the local Pharmacy couldn't fill the 90 day supply - while on speaker phone. Martin said he couldn't do it. Caremark suggested I go to another CVS in the future as apparently this pharmacist doesn't know what he is doing (while still on speaker phone). So, I asked for my original prescriptions back, they complied, and I just mailed them directly to Caremark. I'm eager to see if this takes care of the situation. I hope to never step foot in the CVS at Alton Road again. They appear to be the same company, but pharmacists refuse to call one another and give the customer the run-around? WTF? read more

Normally no issues. I love the brand the company and the deals! It's my neighborhood store. Today however I received the worst customer service ever. An employee said I was not allowed to use the self check out because I had (7 items) too many items. I purposely bought extra items to get the xtra bucks, but she said she didn't want to have to help us. Then she stood behind me throught the whole transaction and even tried to say we had not rang an item thru! After I called the manager and complaint this employee, still could care less about the embarrassment she caused! Cvs hire better employees! This one needs to go! read more

My first two star review! I stopped in here on my way home from work and was absolutely frustrated by overall lack of motivation to help customers. I needed help reaching something up high because hey! i'm only 5'5" in my heels on my tippy toes, and I can't reach the top shelves. If possible, I always go to a different drug store, however the CVS on 5th is much worse than this one, that's why they have 2 stars instead of 1. Best cvs I've been too only prob is danm alton road constructions now :/ difficult to access.

Used to go here all the time , now they refuse to produce receipts on purchases. Very dishonest scheme where we get extra care bucks but we are unable to redeem. The cvs claimed I would be emailed a receipt and coupon, which I never requested, but the email never arrived. Very shady cvs , there's a Walgreens down the street that is much more reputable. read more
