When I requested cash back and there was no money available in the till, she became visibly upset. She started slamming the till and saying that she had already told everyone she didn't have money in it. However, she had not communicated that to me at all. The way she handled the situation was completely unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Customers should not be treated this way, and slamming the till in frustration is not appropriate behavior in a customer-facing position. I hope management addresses this situation because customers deserve to be treated with basic courtesy and respect.

Milam's has great deli and great selection of hot prepared food items that look almost gourmet while Publix has the famous subs and cakes. A few weeks before I came here, one of our neighbors saw us carrying Publix bags and admonished us, telling us we'd save a lot by going to TJ's instead. All that in mind, I came to Trader Joe's fully expecting a mind-blowing adventure in grocery shopping where I'd find amazing foods along with typical grocery store items, all at rock bottom prices. That day I left disappointed and empty handed. I selected a few things, but ended up putting them back as I found that TJ's didn't have many of the standard grocery staples I was looking for on that day, and several items were more expensive than Publix. I'd actually written a review draft, giving this Trader Joe's 3 stars at most after that visit. Fast forward several weeks and I was looking for something unique to make for dinner and I did a search for creative ideas from Trader Joe's. They had several suggestions for buying multiple items at this store and combining them (in some cases using additional ingredients from Publix as well) for a relatively inexpensive and fast meal so I came, found everything I needed and made 2 dinners for two for about $15 each. The first was Birria tacos which hubby is a fan of each time we go to Earls. The second was chicken mole which I often order at Bakan or Koko, both with Mexican rice. Both meals were simple to prepare, turned out really well and were inexpensive to make. If you come here to TJ's looking for lots of standard grocery store staples and basic ingredients, you may be disappointed - and with many things it makes sense to comparison shop as Trader Joes' isn't always the cheapest on price - but for specialty items, frozen prepared foods and meal planning, I found it to be a really good option. Just cookies and meringuitos. I ended up buying some cookies. I'm sure they're delicious. I will have to keep hunting for some more bread from Susilicious. I am happy, however, that her brand brought me to Milam's. While there's no way I would shop there on the regular (too far and too expensive for me), the customer service is exemplary and the selection for wine, cheese, and bread are stars. I found rows upon rows of wine. Felt as if I were in a mini wine store. Not to mention all the breads, including Brazilian cheese bread and even prebaked French baguettes. I love boar's head meats, and that is what they have here at Downstairs. I am a sucker for an italian sub, but reading other reviews I think I'm going to have to try other options soon. You can get your subs on a wrap or croissant, and those options sound amazing too. They have coffee and grab and go pastries because, Miami. Service is friendly, and quick. The parking is limited, so I'm sure during lunch time it may get a little hectic to get in and out. Will return for sandwich fixes soon!
