I am really impressed with Milam's Market…read more I went last night for the first time. I was hoping to find some banana chocolate chunk bread from Susilicious, a vendor I recently was made aware of at the Mango Festival that Fairchild Tropical Gardens holds. Turns out that while Milam's carries her goodies, they had no bread. I spoke to who I believe was the manager and he was very kind and found out they don't usually get bread. Just cookies and meringuitos. I ended up buying some cookies. I'm sure they're delicious. I will have to keep hunting for some more bread from Susilicious. I am happy, however, that her brand brought me to Milam's. While there's no way I would shop there on the regular (too far and too expensive for me), the customer service is exemplary and the selection for wine, cheese, and bread are stars. I found rows upon rows of wine. Felt as if I were in a mini wine store. Not to mention all the breads, including Brazilian cheese bread and even prebaked French baguettes. I think the only thing I didn't see was Indian naan, and even, I wonder if I simply missed it. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian meals. Freshly made salads, sushi, and deli products. Oh, and individual Panera Bread soups that I've only ever seen in bulk at BJs and Costco. But the best part? A ridiculous amount of sauces, including arrabbiata.

I also heard their chicken salad was really good so I had theirs on the croissant, omg it was life changing. The croissant was crunchy, flaky buttery, the chicken salad had the perfect amount of mayo. Def want to come back and try their Mediterranean sides that I saw advertised (hummus, olives etc)

Alright, here's my updated take…read more I'll start with the good, because there is some. The location of this Fresh Market is great. Parking is right in front, super easy, no stress. And when you first walk in, the place actually looks nice. It feels like it should be a solid shopping experience. But that feeling does not last long. I know there have been complaints about food temps and standards, and after going back, I can say this clearly. The problem is not the store itself, it is the people running it. That is where everything starts to fall apart. I went back Monday night, my second visit since that brutal local newspaper article. I had just finished a workout and wanted to grab a steak. Quick in and out. That was the plan. Instead, I walked up to the meat department and just stopped. It was rough. Not a little messy. I am talking straight up dirty, disorganized, and honestly kind of gross. Definitely not what you expect when you are about to buy something you plan to eat. What really gets me is this. One of the employees there also works at another nearby supermarket that is known for having high standards. So she knows what right looks like. This is not a training issue. It is a nobody is checking, nobody cares situation. And it shows. The rest of the store felt the same way. Dingy, a little grimy, just not taken care of. The nice layout cannot save it when everything else feels off. I ended up walking out. No steak, no patience left. It is frustrating because this place has potential. Great location, nice setup, all the pieces are there. But right now it feels like nobody is really running the place. Maybe I will give it another shot around October. Hopefully something changes. Right now, it is just not it.

This is such a good Convenience Store…read more Not only do they have a great assortment of wine and beer - but they have the most delish subs. I love boar's head meats, and that is what they have here at Downstairs. I am a sucker for an italian sub, but reading other reviews I think I'm going to have to try other options soon. You can get your subs on a wrap or croissant, and those options sound amazing too. They have coffee and grab and go pastries because, Miami. Service is friendly, and quick. The parking is limited, so I'm sure during lunch time it may get a little hectic to get in and out. Will return for sandwich fixes soon!

They also have plenty of breakfast items or snacks including empagnadas, croquetta, pastries, and eggs. They sell hard to get craft beers and wine as well so if you need alcohol then pick some up here. There's plenty of parking spots outside for easy access. Once you step inside it's clean, friendly, and hospitable. They are always stocked up on everything and have a variety of flavors which makes them stand out for energy drinks, sparkling water, nut mixes, and pretty much anything you'd find at a convenience store. The staff is friendly, attentive, and gives fast service even when extremely busy. Don't think about it.....just come here and see for yourself! Great job Downstairs! I'll be back again soon.
