I visited my parents in Aiken for the holidays. My mom made sloppy Joe's for dinner and used some of the hamburger buns from the Publix bakery. I don't know what kind of magic fairy dust they use in their bakery but the hammer buns were absolutely incredible. It's sounds completely bizzare but these bins were as good as some of the fancy sourdough we have out here in California. Not only that, we tried the pecan coffee cake ring and it was also amazing! The bakery is hands down better than Safeway or Albertsons, or any other chain market I have ever been to. I am super impressed with this store. Just shopped yesterday and and bought the ribs on sale and when they were taken out of the package and underneath they were all fat. Ive been alive for over 70 years and that was the worst piece of meat I ever bought uncontested. The store is overpriced in every department especially their beef prices. You have to shop their sales. The staff is exceptional from the people working in the aimed to the cashiers. They are polite and very courteous and helpful and I give them 5 stars. But they are overpriced the meat is usually good but those ribs I bought I would be ashamed to serve them to a stray dog. Do better with your prices, I'm guessing your profit margins are a lot higher than most chain stores. How shameful. read more

Produce is better than most other grocery stores. Prices may be a little higher, but the quality is better. The sushi bar will make special rolls if you ask them. The seafood department will even steam the shrimp for you. They made garlic shrimp when we asked them to. Very friendly service with a clean store. You may want to avoid seniors' day. They give seniors extra discounts and the store can get crowded. read more

I shop at Publix at least once a week and am usually very satisfied with the quality of products purchased there. However, I was very disappointed in a package of deli pre sliced turkey I recently purchased. Here's a picture of the package, as well as a picture of what two of the slices looked like. At $14.49 a pound you'd expect each slice to be edible. These two slices were not! So much for saving time at the deli by buying pre sliced deli meat. read more

Love a Publix sub??? Me too, but don't count on one from Publix in Aiken unless you work there. They are more interested in waiting on their coworkers than customers off the street. Waited in line only to be cut off by a worker who was finishing up his shift and a person working who couldn't have cared less that there was an actual line! Oh and to top it all off there were flies in the bread bin. Not hard to walk out without a sub. Would have given 0 stars but that is not an option. read more

Do NOT order catering from here. We pre-ordered catering from this Publix a month and a half before our wedding, an amount for about 100 people. Employees had very little knowledge about how much food would serve how many people and could hardly answer any questions on the phone about which utensils/serving trays would be provided. I will say, one manager on the phone was very knowledgeable but she was only available one time I called over the month and a half. This Publix made our wedding day itself a disaster. THE DAY OF our wedding, I received a call from this Publix telling me that they had no caprese salad (which made up about a third of the catering we had pre-ordered). They only had 2 options to swap it out with and they gave us no discount for this inconsistent service. Then, the employee on the phone proceeded to tell us that "we don't know if we'll be able to have it done by 4pm" even though I told them the time we needed it ready by over a month and a half ago. If that wasn't bad enough, once we unloaded the food at the venue, we realized that the chicken tenders were extremely dry and they had packed none of the dipping sauce we had paid for! We and all of our guests were stuck with eating the driest chicken known to man with no hope of any dipping sauce whatsoever. A complete waste of money. Would not recommend. Should have just ordered Pizza Hut. Thankful that we at least had plenty of alcohol at the wedding. Do NOT waste your money here. read more

Best place for groceries in Aiken! I will shop at other stores closer to me on occasion but I usually go to Publix for high quality meats and produce. The Deli has great meats and cheeses and some of the best olives in town. (They used to have THE best martini olives - blue cheese stuffed Greek olives; but they downgraded and waste their time stuffing blue cheese in to waxy green olives now...sigh.) Anyway, they have the best fruits and veggies and their steaks and seafood are awesome. They have a Greenwise organic section (which I don't shop in) and I always order my Steeplechase food trays here (Cubanitos!). They are based out of FL, which is cool because I used to live in FL and like having them up in SC too. On the down side, their cuban sandwiches from the Deli are sometimes a "miss" (psst...there's no mayo on a Cuban sandwich...duh!) Still, all in all, best place in town for fresh foods! read more

Had my prescription transferred to the Publix Pharmacy. When I went to pick it up I was informed the medication had been recalled. I informed the young lady that there was the same medication by another pharmeceutical company which was not recalled. (I had received it 3 months previously). Immediately the response was we don't stock it. Funny every other pharmacy in Aiken has the new medication. No effort was made to assist the customer. Went to another pharamcy down the street; they had the replacement medication and the pharmacist called my physician to have the prescription to "his" pharmacy. Now that is customer service. I was going to transfer all my scripts to Publx but certainly not now. read more

This is my hometown grocery store and even 5 years later, when I come home to visit my parents, the employees remember me and my family. We are from Florida where we have a publix on every corner. We moved here and to be honest did not like any of the other stores. Then we found this publix and felt like we were home again. The store is just as clean as we remembers "ours" and the staff is super friendly. We drive about 10 mins out of the way past 3 other stores to get to "our new" publix. Have been doing most of our grocery shopping here for years. Always have shelves stocked, deli is well maintained and fresh meats and cheeses. The cakes and bread in the bakery department is best around. The meat department, the seafood department, the aisles, all are exceptional. The shampoos, makeup, over-the-counter meds, many choices. Even the Halmark cards with the selections are better here. Pet aisle, great, baby needs, great. Now if they would work on making the produce area tops, it would be absolutely perfect! read more

I had a terrible first experience. I'm new to south Carolina and loved the calm alternative to Florida. The store was orderly and had our favorite chocolate chip cookies at the bakery which i highly recommend They come in a bakers dozen. Only buy if they are very light and even if you're not a major chocolate chip cookie lover you won't regret it :) My husband and I enjoyed our experience until check out. I like to bring my own cloth bags and I suppose either the lady was offended by this or it was more likely my skin tone. I do have a Spanish background. She did not greet us and was annoyed that we were there . To top it off she asked if we had WIC. There is nothing wrong with WIC I believe if a family does need help it's better to feed your children but praise God we are well off at the moment. This was condescending and uncalled for. Although she had treated us this way I still bid her a good day. Due to this experience I will continue my business as well as refer family and friends to The Fresh Market a little further down or frankly anywhere that our business will be appreciated. read more

Still 5 stars, if I could give this place a 10 star review, I would. Their subs are deli fresh. I wanted cheddar cheese on my sub and the clerk fresh sliced the cheese for me. I got freshly sliced turkey too. This was a great day maker for me as I got diagnosed with a sinus infection today. Another day maker was being able to get my antibiotic free through their free oral antibiotic program. Yes I had an hour and a half wait for my prescription, but I was able to enjoy my freshly made sub and relax for a while. I love this store and always will. It is so close to my house that I don't see a need to shop anywhere else. Very convenient when I pick up a pizza at Domino's. I can go get something to drink with my pizza and it will be ready by the time I get back. Can't gush enough about this store, the layout is great (I get claustrophobic in stores very easily) and I can spend hours in this store. This place is clean and they have plenty of employees that seem to genuinely care about you as the customer. read more

I thought this was a sad little grocery store. I suppose that I am spoiled by the likes of PCC and Whole Foods living in the northwest, but I found this place to be quite depressing. I think it's funny how other reviewers are boasting about their "extensive" organic section and impressive variety of beer and wine. The wine section is side of a small aisle, filled with the usual grocery store suspects. Nothing to write home about. Prices and selection were much better at Harvard Wine & Beverage. As far as beer, if Bud, MGD and Corona excite you then you are in luck. Oh, I think they might have had Guinness and Shock Top. No local craft beers or microbrews to speak of. Produce was not much better, everything just looked to be of mediocre quality. I hear there's a farmer's market in Aiken, and I'm betting that is the place to get produce in these parts. My husband & I went to the bakery at Publix to order a cake for our wedding. The lady in the bakery was very rude. She constantly kept bringing up the fact that the cake had to be paid in full when ordered. We told her that we intended to pay right then. She didn't answer our questions, she kept bringing up things about price. She later said that the cake need to be paid for within 3 days of the event. Still our questions were not answered. She then walked off as we were asking more questions and left us standing for five Minutes. Although, after being blown off another lady offered to help, we decided to take our $$$$ elsewhere.
