The renter insurance is way to expensive , just rented couple ago now it's raising the insurance ,am really disappointed

Total rip-off. They prorate your first month so that they can shift your billing to the first and have you pay for the month in advance. But then when you move out they don't provide a refund for the portion of the month you don't use. Also they charge an outrageous amount for insurance that they make you sign up for hoping that you will not go back and cancel with in the first 30 days. It is clear from the response of their customer service that these are issues commonly complained about and they don't budge. Do not give them your money. read more

Brenda helped us yesterday when we rented our storage unit. This is probably one of the better Public Storage locations in Virginia Beach. It by far exceeded our expectations for storage units. She gave us a quick tour of the place and made sure our code worked at the gate before we left. She was also very patient with our 3 year old daughter, which was great! I am really happy we went with this location for our storage needs. If anyone is looking for a great location, safe, clean, and wonderful customer service I highly recommend this location. read more

This is supposed to be climate controlled but its not, most of our belongings have mold. Thank goodness, we we're only absent from our unit for 7 months or the mold problem would have been much worse. All 1st floor units are open at the top of the unit, so that you can not only see the unit next to yours but if they have bug infestations or existing mold the problem remains unmitigated, along with lack of climate control primarily in hot and humid summer months. read more

We have rented any it for over 3 years. Now, after upgrading to a larger unit for only 6 months, we have a rate increase of nearly 10%. That is ridiculous. Apparently, according to the manager, this will happen every year. Don't put your things here unless you want your rate to increase more than the rate of inflation every 6 months to a year. read more

Sheila, the property manager was extremely proactive in meeting our storage needs. She was very professional and insured all details of the rental were fully explained. Additionally, she expedited the paperwork process such that we were able to off load within 30 minutes of arrival. The facility looked very good and appeared to be well maintained. read more

I like the people. I like the storage space. There is an ongoing issue wth one of the access doors that hasn't been addressed and the lack of access makes it impossible to move anything in and out of the building when the only functional access door is being used by two people moving (Which is especially common) on any given weekend. While they have half heartedly addressed the second door access several times, it is apparent that isn't a priority and hasn't been remedied. I'm not really one to complain but after several months this issue goes beyond being a minor inconvenience to unacceptably negligent. read more

As a military family we move quite often, when my husband deployed this year we put all of our belongings in a Climate Controlled storage unit so my babies and I could go back to California to be with family. Well when my husband came back from a long 9 month deployment we came back to find ALL of our stuff covered in MOLD!! Why we have mold in a CLIMATE CONTROLLED unit is unknown, and even with the extra Insurance we paid Public Storage it seems that they DO NOT cover any of it! Over $10,000 worth of furniture and personal stuff gone. All of our children's stuff has to be thrown out because of the mold! We spoke to the property manager and all she said was that there was nothing they could do but for us to contact the insurance about damage. We did that and all they can do is give us $250 with a $100 deductible! There is mold all over the unit! The walls, the floor, and outside of the unit as well! There must not have been any air circulating through the unit and it had to have been hot and humid in order for our things to have molded the way it did! From the looks of things it looks like the mold started from the unit itself. After removing our things from the unit you can see on the floor there are water spots and mold all over the floor! The property manager is saying that there is nothing wrong with their unit and the other units around so it is our fault when all they do is control the air and heat of the storage. I told her about the water spots on the floor and she told me that water does not come from the ground, it comes from up in the sky... She must not know that concrete is porous and water can come up from the ground if there is no proper barrier controlling it. We will be contacting the insurance company again and will be sending more pictures of the unit itself. This is the worst customer service we have ever had! We recommend everyone to not get the insurance for it is just a scam to get extra money from you when they do not cover any real problems that could happen to your belongings! We will definitely let all of our military friends and family know about our experience and show pictures so they will not use this facility when they leave for deployments! So disappointing... read more
