Beware of renting from these people. Not sure if all do this, but the one in Trenton, Michigan on Allen Road has this policy. They will pro rate and charge you to move in, but do not pro rate if you move out early. They hide behind their policy of that it's in your rental agreement. This is a scam. They don't tell you this when you rent. If they didn't pro rate and charge you to move in it would be different, but no matter what, you'll be charged the entire month. BEWARE! read more

I have a storage unit here and it is very clean and the staff is friendly. But, you plan on using the climate controlled building good luck getting a cart to move your items. Apparently the carts were stolen when they first opened and instead of replacing all of them they only replaced five and they keep them under lock and key. You must surrender your drivers license to them before they allow you to use a cart. When you are finished with them you must again contact the office and they will meet with you to lock it up again. If there is only one person working be prepared for a wait in getting the cart and again returning it in order to get your license back. With all the security cameras they have you would think it would be easy for them to see what happened to the carts and to keep track of them. read more

This seemed like a very nice storage place. They do lock checks, and daily drives around to make sure everything is ok. BUT my unit was infested with ants and mice, the insurance they make you have doesn't cover VERMIN ! Wonderful...... think twice before you lose your belongings due to an infestation. When I called the front office on my move out day in shock of the nasty ness I said someone might want to come see this. She said I'll take you word for it! Dealing with this Public Storage location has been nothing short of a nightmare. Everything from the loosely worded fine print down to the slumlord type customer services has made my skin crawl and my blood boil. Beware of false advertising and bring a tape measure! The 5' x 10' locker I originally rented ended up being only 5' x 9' 3". Subsequently, the sofa I intended on storing was 9' 5" long and too big to fit in the unit. After bringing this to managements attention, they rudely remarked that it was my fault for not reading the fine print. The contract reads "approximate size only". I then asked if I could move up to the bigger 10' x 10' unit that was on special. They replied by saying I could move up, but I would have to pay an additional administration fee of $15. They also remarked that I would not be able to get the new customer special price because I was already an existing customer. I had the unit for less than 24 hours and never even moved my things into it. How on earth could they consider me an existing customer!? I contacted upper management about the situation and they said there was nothing they could do about it. Needless to say, I have since moved on to another storage facility. I will never return to public storage. read more

If I could leave less then 1 Star I would. This company is extremely rude and disrespectful to their guests. I've been hung up on multiple times by the woman Kelli at the front desk there. I called ahead and told them I wouldn't be able to make my payment on time for the month of July due to being in a terrible car accident. Their response was "that's not our problem, you need to pay it or we are putting your stuff up for auction" so I payed it within their 14 day grace period and they still cut my lock off my storage unit (that you have to pay $30.00 for) and told me even though they cut it the day I payed that I still have to purchase a new lock from them and they won't reimburse me for the one they cut. So I called again and got Kelli again, she said that I had to come down in person and do the lock myself. I tried to explain to her that I was t-boned and don't have means of transportation to get down there since my fiancé is deployed overseas and that I would pay for the lock over the phone and she hung up on me. Every time I try to call back she declines my calls. I will never recommend this company to anyone, ever. If you are more then 1 day late, you are considered delinquent and they threaten to sell your things. Their auto pay system was down my first month there, and even though I had already payed for my first month I got 2 letters in the mail and 1 letter over email threatening to sell my things. This company is a joke. I'll never go with public storage again. I would highly HIGHLY recommend UHaul storage facility or any other storage facility before you go with this place. 3 years ago I need a storage unit. So I check out 3 different storage companies before I made my choice! The first one was on van born rd in Taylor I walked in the lady was on the phone and told who ever she was on the phone with to hold on a second and she said what do you need I told her I needed a unit and didn't know what size I needed she gave me a size chart and went back to her phone call and told who ever was on the phone to bring her taco bell!! Next one was on fort St in Trenton i walked in behind a another customer the guy at desk ask how could he help him the customer said I'm unit 113 and my stuff is soaked the roof on his unit leaked on all his stuff! I got out of there in hurry Next one Allen Rd in Trenton public storage I walk in there was two ahead of me the lady at the counter said she would be with me in a few minutes about 5 min later it's my turn she says hi my name is kayla welcome to public storage how could she help me I told her I needed a unit and didn't know what size she said no problem and asked what I was putting in the unit I explained what I had she told me I needed a 10×20 she explained that I should put the mattresses in mattress bags and she ask if I needed boxes I told yes but I didn't know how many I told her what kind of stuff I needed to pack she said you will need about 4 wardrobe boxes and sixteen lager boxes I get all the stuff plus tape and tape gun then she takes me out to show my unit on a Gulf cart no less I rent my unit pay for my boxes and stuff she tells my gate code gate hours thanks me and gives me her card! The knowledge and outstanding customer service from kayla sold the unit thanks kayla Two days later I'm all packed in 26ft truck it's 5:00 pm Took 7 hours to load the truck I'm thinking it's going at least 5 hours to unload it plus we haven't eat yet and u-haul needs the truck back by 8:00am for another customer! I call kayla and told her my problem she said no problem I will give you 24 hour access for tonight kayla to the rescue thanks kayla three years later I bought a house September 14,2014 I called kayla to tell her I was moving out by October 1 She sounded sad but happy I bought a house we talked about many people I sent her way to rent units my brother, uncle, and 3 good friends of mine two live closer to another public storage but rented from kayla because of me telling them about her outstanding customer service Thanks public storage for hiring and training outstanding employees like kayla Thanks kayla read more

this company is absolute crap. office is never open. corporate can't even get things fixed. someone was in my storage unit on moving day. cost me $300 extra in moving fees while movers waited in the truck. Finally got in building by another renter. I had gate code but no entry code for storage building. 10 calls to manager no response. It's over a week still have never got an answer. Corporate could get ahold of anyone at all local locations. Manager still has his job. I think the state or city should revoke their operating license. i called days later to verify they corrected things. Employee said I needed to come in to sign for the empty space I had to used to move. I did next day and closed again and all local stores closed and the 2 that were open told corporate they were having car trouble and couldn't come to the store. I still have wrong storage unit on my account. Corporate could not fix the error but emailed manager to fix. It's still screwed up. DO NOT STORE HERE, NOT SECURE. I wish I could give them negative stars. I had a carhauling trailer with a car on it stored here. On October 20, 2013 someone broke though the fence, broke 2 locks off the trailer, unstrapped the car and took off with the trailer. The car ended up somewhere between there and the road out front. It took 6 hours after opening time in the morning for them to figure out that my trailer was missing, and in the mean time they had the car towed by the police. So not only did I lose the trailer to thieves, but I lost the car to impound fees. The flimsy chain link fence is the only line of defense protecting stuff stored there. There are empty lots on each side for thieves to go through to access this lot. This place is not secure, and since they do not accept any responsibility for what is stored there there is no reason to do anything to increase security. If anything above is inaccurate it is because calling them has just gotten me excuses and a run around. Also, the police have still not returned numerous calls to get information 4 days later. read more
