This one was close by, so I decided to go ahead and try it out. It wasn't high class by any means... But I never imagined it would be as bad as it is. I had to literally dump off piles and piles of rat and mice poop that was covering every box and surface in my unit. Not only that, but clothing items are ruined from mouse urine. It smells awful... This is absolutely disgusting and unsanitary. For nearly $100 this should not be happening. Ever. Horrible quality. I am so upset about my things being ruined, I have been paying for insurance on my unit... Let's see if this is even covered!!!! the pictures I took do not do the heinous conditions justice... Save yourself the headache and nausea, go **literally** anywhere else For storage!!!!

    Finally getting to sharing my feedback on Extra Space Storage. This is not something I'm jazzed…read moreabout because the customer service in the beginning working with their team was super solid. Perhaps I'm naive but I really felt lured in by the reviews and initial low price offer. I had never rented a storage unit before. I had some apprehensions due to what I've read about bait and switch practices. I'd hope I wouldn't be a victim of this behavior...but alas that was not meant to be. I was initially pleased by the discount proposed after first touring the space in the fall of 2020 but just a few weeks later the price increased by the time I signed the contract. That should have been the first red flag. In the ensuing months, Extra Space increased my space rent by 20% after 4 months and another 20% 9 months later. A whopping 44% in just over a year. Extra Space has consistently raised our rent. They give you a big discount at first then in 6 mths raise your rent and again at the 1 year mark. Here's the breakdown of my costs to date with the company: 11/20 -- $157 02/21 -- $186 11/21 -- $248 6/22 -- $285 * 3 days after my online review (nice)* I know they will give you the legalese "pursuant to your agreement...you're on a month to month"....blah blah blah. The storage companies know it's a hassle for you to move again and take advantage of that. Of course they can stick w you the fine print but it's still shady business practice to raise your rates so quickly and so high. :( UPDATE Three (3) !! days after posting my feedback, Extra Space Storage increased my rate again by almost 15% ~ another $40. Methinks it was retaliation for this review. I find the timing of the increase VERY coincidental. I posted on 6/24/22 and they generated one of those pesky rate increase postcards on 6/27/22. Can't prove it obviously but it seems evident the business owners wanted to be punitive bc I gave them a less than stellar review.

    What a nightmare! got there at 645pm when female employee was locking the door , I explained I was…read morethere yesterday asking if I could come before closing at 7 to pickup a bit earlier and avoid the mobile pickup. She says we lock the door at quarter of. Male employee comes to door and many words exchanged including " bro" and " I don't get overtime" and " come back tomorrow " . She says your key is right here you're all set and they lock up again before 7 pm. I let them go home , my mistake. Stood in the rain for mobile instructions and , lo and behold, the only cargo van that is double parked and blocked behind another is MY rental. Add Incompetence to the lousy lazy customer service. Yes, I called next day and got the refund , store manager was very nice and I appreciate that but I was leaving at 6am next morning with all the furniture so "come back at 7 am " was impossible..... really incapable and avoidable issues here.

When we got to the front of the line, the obviously incompetent woman who was at the desk asked us to move aside for a man who had just walked in and wasn't even in line. My boyfriend then told her that we are next in line and we just need to close out a unit and would be quick. She ignored him and again asked us to move so she could help the other man. At this point my boyfriend got reasonably upset and her response was to say "I don't like your attitude so you can move to the back of the line". Once it was finally our turn again, I took over the conversation and calmly let her know that our unit was empty and we will not be renewing for November. She said okay and said she'd cancel it and that was the end of it, or so I thought. The same day, after leaving the store we received a notification from my bank that U-Haul had taken the funds for the month of November out of my account. Absolutely horrific. Not only was this employee rude but she also committed theft. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY LOCATION EVER!

    My partner in crime Tammy had to move recently and as we all know, moving is nothing anyone…read moregleefully jumps for joy over and says "Moving?!!! sure sounds GRRREAT!! with a big thumbs up. So, we of course had to find a place to store all her worldly possessions and CubeSmart over the "Hill" from her place was suggested, so off we went to get her a unit. We got there just as it opened and Michele was all smiles and super friendly, gave us all the particulars we needed to know and showed us a few cubes. We opted for a unit that was split into two smaller spaces 1 for furniture and the other for her other "stuff". They have nice flat carts to transport stuff from the truck or car to the inside endless hallways of storage units. I will say this, they do have a free truck you can use to haul larger items, and we would have loved to have been able to use this, but because they do not have a night key drop box, the CubeSmart the truck must be rented when an employee is on duty. Sadly we missed this opportunity by 1 minute- literally 1 MINUTE, so we had to go to U-Haul- that's in another review. All in all a good experience and Michele was a gem!

The same Jordan here could not tell me what conflict of interest he is talking about. On 7/29/2019 I reported Seklou displayed the best of arrogance, abusive tone, keeping me on hold for hours , imitating my accent, laughing at the background while I was on hold. I emphasized the importance of staff being professional and the worst thing is he refused to allow me to speak with Rita who was very very nice. Is that conflict of interest? It is reporting a horrible service from their employee. Rita was very professional and polite. The discrimination is real but I have resources to deal with this company for its behavior but let me share this email with you On the same day at the same time a wonderful gentleman called Lewis and a lady called Cathy who sent me the quotation which was confirming that the store can help me with no problem Regards Dr Thandeka Mazibuko
