Awful. They substantially increase your rate a few months after you've already moved your stuff in so you have basically no choice but to pay it. They will continue to raise your rate numerous times over the life of your storage unit until you leave. ABSOLUTELY horrible communication! Although the salesperson who booked me went above and beyond to find the exact type unit. (I'm now assuming only because she just really wanted to make a sale to get the commission.) She completely neglected to tell me that although I communicated several times that I only plan to stay and pay for 1 month from 11/23/25-12/22/25, that I'd be OBLIGATED to pay for the remainder of December. (I only found this out by speaking to the excellent property manager, Rachel, at the Plymouth Meeting, PA location --- NOT one of the people that I called after I saw the additional charges due for the remainder of December, [details below] told me that I was obligated to pay for the remainder of December. Instead, they drove me absolutely crazy with their canned, dumb answers to my inquiry.) THE INCOMPETENCE: I booked unit for 1 month only, starting 11/23/2025 and will exit 12/22/2025. The sales associate was aware of this. I paid THE ENTIRE MONTH IN FULL and received paperwork indicating the amount I paid in full, PLUS an additional amount that's due 12/1/2025 (for the remainder of December, if I choose to stay past 12/22/25.) WHY WOULD THE 2nd AMOUNT BE DUE 12/1 to extend my use of the unit if I'm booked through 12/22/25 ? It should be due 12/22/25 for the remainder of the month's stay. So now, if I don't pay the amount on 12/1 (even if I don't decide to stay), given the 6th day grace period, I'll owe that amount + the late fee of $20!!!!! I spoke to 3 people in customer service and 2 in sales and all they say is "that additional amount is prorated for the remaining days in December". I had to repeat CALMLY, SLOOOOOWLY, that I realize that, but why would it be due on 12/1. They all said "because that's the way our billing cycle works." And since I don't plan to stay, so I won't want to pay it, I'll be charged a late fee of amount + $20. Then they said "call us back around 12/20 to tell us you don't want to stay (ie: after the 12/1 due date and late payment.) Duuuuhhhhhh. WTF read more

This was the worst experience I've had with any storage company. Absolutely choose another place. I was charged even though I couldn't gain access during business hours and told I would be refunded only not to be able to reach anyone again and have to dispute with my bank. I will never consider Public Storage again. Also, how do you never have anyone in the office. They're a joke, don't bother. I would give no stars if I could. read more

Good place, great help from the employee, but nowhere did it say while booking a drive up unit that the gate hours end at 6pm daily. With a 9-5, this forced me to take time off work in order to move my things into the unit. You can not access your belongings or unit in general after 6pm on week day and 5pm on weekends. Aside from that, great place... but I think I'll look elsewhere next time for this reason alone. It is a shame. read more

First the person helping me was VERY kind, helpful, and respectful. We went to one unit where the sliding lock was stuck and almost impossible to open. The employee hurt their hand trying to slide it. We couldn't use it for that reason.!We then walked back to the front office area for them to locate another unit. When we prepared to go to that unit I was told The elevator near my unit was broken and that I would need to use the elevator on the opposite end. OK no biggie. We go to the unit and the unit still has someone's belongings in it. I decided I was not going to go back up to the front office for a third time. read more

Update: Halloween came early this year at Public Storage. Things are not much better since my last visit. The elevators seemed to work okay, but I found the fire extinguisher case close by smashed with shards of glass exposed just left there - a definite safety hazard. There were also huge, nasty cobwebs with gobbledygook hanging from the vents all down the hallway. Gross. And there was bits of broken glass (probably wear and tear from clients and not necessarily from the extinguisher) that were not swept up and disposed of, but just swept to the side against the wall. I don't know where all these 5 star reviews on Google are coming from, but it's not reality. These people are either complete idiots, or they're the laziest staff I've ever seen that can't be bothered to pick up a broom. It's really unacceptable. Property is dirty, dingy and scary looking. The staff, as far as I can tell from four or five visits, consists of one sixteen year-old girl that cannot answer any questions or provide any useful help. The elevators are a nightmare; they literally look like murders have been committed in them. I have gotten stuck in one twice now. When you ring the help buzzer, you wait fifteen minutes before what I presume is an off-site operator answers and just tells you to wait. I managed to pry the door open and get out. Oh, yes, and the elevator inspection certificates that are posted inside the elevators are all expired. Avoid at all costs. read more

The people that work at this location are great this is directed at the corporate AHole douche bags that come up with their "policies". Charged me for a whole months rent even after I moved out! Beware they have a very stupid company wide policy, not just in Philadelphia. I moved out on 12/2 and they charged me for the whole month! All they say is "That's our policy". Yeah but that doesn't make it right! Your charging people for what they haven't used. If they were a decent company then their policies would reflect the ethical treatment of their customers. Treating people like crap and squeezing as much money out of them with zero regard for fairness or customer satisfaction is not a viable long term strategy. I will NEVER use this company in the future and will go out of my way to influence everyone else not to. Now was that worth an extra months rent? Being greedy and unethical and creating an army of unhappy customers is a sure way to lose in the long term. read more

This is a horrible place . DO NOT I repeat DO NOT RENT HERE! They say climate controlled and it's not , the rent goes up after you sign a contract , and it smells old and like rats. All my stuff had ray feces on it and they wouldn't even let me use the dumpsters to throw the stuff away . The staff is never there always has the be right back sign in the door . Lock in my unit was broke forever. Physically went into the office to ask to have it fixed had it documented on my account and nothing . Woman only fixed it when I was complaining about the mouse feces all one me my kids stuff . I would give this please 0 ratings , but had to pick something. Since my locker flooded out and relocating everything to another locker, in September I got into the elevator in September which broke as soon as the door closed. I immediately pushed the Help button which didn't work. Luckily there was an emergency phone which worked. The operator said he was going to send the P.S. and help get me out. I then called and called the office in which no one answered in OVER AN HOUR! I even called corporate to have them call the office. Nothing. I kid you not! When the P.S. tech finally got me out, I then dragged myself to the office. Yeah, the regional manager who I had been arguing for months about the ceiling collapsing in my unit was covering for sick employees. I asked why he hadn't picked up the damn phone and he said he was showing units. He took a report and said someone would call me in a few days to see how I was. Yeah, no one ever called me including the regional manager. Glad it wasn't crazy hot that day. read more

Public Storage is a rip off. They lure you in with low rates and jack the fees up as quickly as possible. Calling Corporate was a total waste of time. I know if you are reading this you need a storage unit, I would look elsewhere. The onsite staff was very helpful, but they can not address billing issues. read more

I moved into a storage unit a few months ago and was told that the rental fee would come off of my card every month which apparently wasn't accurate since I have been charged over $80 in fees. I had the pleasure of going to the 7571 Ridge Avenue Location of Public Storage yesterday. I was highly pleased with the service. I made the reservation online (which was very easy) and called to confirm that I would be coming. When I had to change to the next day, the staff was understanding and accommodating. I was greeted by Chris who showed me the unit and completed the paperwork. I have never done Public Storage before and Chris took the time to answer all questions. I was nervous that the "online pricing" would be different than the real life pricing, but my final price was exactly what I was quoted online. Chris was lovely and explained everything in my rental agreement in full detail. Moving my items in was easy with the provided dollies and carts. read more

Miserable place with shit customer service. Late fees are outrageous and are levied no matter how much you spend there. Mice and roaches invaded my unit. The roof leak in heavy rain though they claimed they had men out to fix it on numerous occasions. Apparently a low maintenance budget. The hallway lights near my unit were out two months before they were placed and I could not see into the unit. There are no cameras like at UHaul. Avoid this dump. read more
