The location and access hours are convenient. The staff is friendly and helpful. But when concerns about prices come up- the " Blame corporate, I have nothing to do with prices". Which Im sure is true. But the rate hikes are out of control and start almost immediately. Don't be fooled by discounts and online promotions. Our rent has increased by %59 since renting in September, that a $92 increase. Despite monthly on time payments. The solution would be- dont use storage units. Needed a storage location (large 10x20) while moving my parents for a few months. Local PS didn't have what we needed locally except one location and the cost was double for the unit in Petaluma. The staff in Petaluma was helpful, moving in and out was seamless. Location was easily accessible and clean. Staff members were proactive in the account management process. I warn anyone who is thinking of renting from this location. Myself, and others, just had our storage units broken into and there is no information about how this could have happened. There are no cameras? You need a security code to get into the facility, yet they have no idea who did this? I had a ton of valuable items stolen and the rest of my stuff was damaged. There was no concern for this and half ass attempts were made to reach me to let me know. I found out 2 days after it happened, as I received an unknown call from a number with a phone number from 2 hours away. No voicemail was left. No email was sent. Completely unacceptable. Also, my card on file was fraudulently used a few months back, which stemmed from a security breach at that location. Coincidence? I will be removing my stuff as soon as possible as this is all ridiculous, especially for the price I pay. read more

We've been renting since September. We got in/rented at a promotional rate and in November already received a notice that our rate is being raised. I've worked in property management for 12 years and we never raise anyone's rate less than a year in. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Terrible Customer Service. Shady practice. Employees are not well trained, do not give proper information. Beware. Employees were able to provide me a very specific plan and answers to my questions. 2 days later when I call back to follow up on completion of this plan with the employee, they literally have no recollection or remembrance of the conversation. Do not use Public Storage. The employees do not care one iota for you or your well being. I am updating my review to 3 stars pending a possible refund of the misunderstood fees. I am quite surprised to hear back from this business so quickly. I would have to say that the amount of 5 star reviews may be warranted. I will absolutely be happy to give 5 stars if what was previously understood, albeit perhaps mis-understood, is adhered to and a refund is issued. read more

Needed packing supplies and was thrilled to locate just what I needed at this storage facility. Other places in Petaluma either didn't have the item (it would need to be shipped to me), were closed on a Sunday or for the next few days, or required me to go in person and shop. Samantha was incredibly professional and the transaction went smoothly. It was the best the best handling of curbside pickup that I have experienced during this pandemic. Initially, it seemed like a safe, well staffed place to store our things. As time went on, staffing was often absent (sign would say open but nobody was on site) , gates were not functioning (the lady had to come let me out from inside), and the doors were literally stuck open to the units. In Sept., we had no luck in contacting anyone via phone or in person, with questions about moving out. No phone call was returned until the bill was due (we had moved out Sept.1 and stopped paying because I hadn't been able to reach anyone to let them know we were vacating, I figured it out online eventually). I did get a call 13 days after we vacated because they wanted money. The only other time I got someone on the phone, she said they were short staffed. (I get it, but shouldn't be my problem). The woman I talked to today, surprisingly, asked me to tell her what was going on and 2 words in she put me on hold. I'm likely going to have to pay for the whole month of September as they were not willing to waive any of the $269 (or even apologize for poor customer service) so that I don't get dinged on my credit. Not a reviewer but super frustrated with this company and don't recommend. Unless they've been able to get reliable help and functioning equipment, I'd go elsewhere. read more

Samantha was very helpful. She had to deal with a few really rude customers before me but stayed positive and had good customer service throughout and was really nice every time I came in. Very impressed! Rates are similar to other facilities but you can't beat that first month rate! Always felt my unit was safe and the move out process was easy (Thanks again Samantha). The crew here at the Petaluma location are really great!! I have appreciated them & All their help very much through all of my time renting there. They make polite phone call reminders of when payments are due and help with a variety of payment situations from when I'mnot near that location. Samantha is amazing, I've dealt with her a good portion of my time there, she's super pleasant, has helped me make a smooth move from a bigger unit to a smaller one, She helped take care of a lost key situation and even had a trick to help unstick a key that broke off into my lock. Public storage is very accessible. When it comes to my storage needs "public storage" is my number one option. $1 month special is a magnificent deal. Very friendly staff. Samantha(manager) is very knowledgeable and it's always there to help with a positive attitude. I will definitively come back to public storage. I reserved my storage shed online but when I got there it was too small. The woman at the counter was very nice and helpful and I got a larger unit for less than I expected to pay. The experience here started out great. Very accommodating and very easy to move in. The location is a little out of the way but it was the only unit available so...why not. For whatever reason, I am unable to pay my bill online which is pretty inconvenient and unfortunately I am unable to enroll in auto pay (due to a nightmare that happened previously with a huge over withdrawl) but making the drive once a month isn't the end of the world.....until this month. I swing by Monday mid morning...no one is there. I try again on Wednesday at a different time...no one is there for 20 minutes so I leave. Then again today (since I want to avoid a late fee) I leave work to find myself staring at another out of office sign. Granted, it was the end of the lunch time set aside each day because I figured they would be there. Still had to hang out for 10 minutes before someone returned. Its a shame they charge a ridiculous amount for phone payments because I would much rather deal with a robot than someone who is shaking off a disgruntled customer and avoiding the issue. Wish I could change storage units because I would. Excited to see what September has in store.... read more
