The facility is clean and safe. Their online tools are good and convenient. They recently increase the rent by $38/month my new rental rate would now be $182/month up from $144/month. Also most interactions have to be done on-line as they no longer post office hours at that location. Today, I lost my storage unit virginity. And I'm sure glad it was with this place! First, I have to say that I knew exactly which storage spot to take my stuff. Yes, this place is literally located on the street I live on, but that's not why. No, the truth is that I wanted to support this Public Storage spot because of the effort that was clearly put in to making it look great on the street. The facade on Mills (yes, right up to the street *the urban planning nerd in me squeals with delight!*) is actually very pretty, with faux second story windows and attractive trim. I mentioned it to the manager, Laura, and she said that they definitely made an effort to make it blend in with the pretty, ornate homes in the neighborhood. Remember- this is a storage place! I'm used to rows of ugly, one story, garage-looking buildings and here is a multi-story building, with rear parking, that takes the neighborhood design context into account. UM, am I dreaming?!? OK, I'll move on. Laura, whom I mentioned during my nerdy digression, was extremely friendly and made sure that I not only had a first-story unit, but that it was close to the front (I'm tiny and looked ridiculous carrying all of my boxes in). The only things to keep in mind are that 1- you are required to get insurance on the storage unit totaling a minimum of $11/month in addition to the rental rate, and 2- there's a 'merchandise' total of $19.16 added for the lock and key (I didn't realize that this would be an additional fee) and an admin fee of $23.43. read more

DO NOT RENT HERE We have furniture in storage here for a few months and when we went to clean it out EVERYTHING was water damaged. Furniture had to be thrown away. The response from the manager was "that's not our fault" and she refused to help us Their building maintenance is non existent. My family and I relocated several years ago from Orlando to the Midwest and we put an entire three bedroom in storage. During the past few years we have experienced our ups and downs while trying to maneuver financially being a family of five girls, three boys, six grandchildren, myself and my other half. Public storage has always being there for us. The property manager, Sherece, has always been available, professional, approachable, attentive, and in the process has become a part of our family. Sherece makes sure that we know that we are not just a number. As a matter of fact, when we call she even knows our phone numbers...that is just one of the examples that lets me know that she values us as customers. We have issues arise though out the years just like a few people I've seen post prior to me yet Sherece and Customer Service worked with us to bring about a fair and reasonable resolution. For us the key whenever issues came about (and they do) was communication. Rather it was a issue about billing, payments or information staying in touch and listening on both ends was always key. I highly recommend Public Storage, especially the one on 8255 Silver Star Rd. Orlando, Florida where Sherece is the property manager. Honestly I don't know where we would be without them. Thank God that the Sherece and Public Storage was here for us because everyone could had lost everything time and time again. Well we were excited to find this storage option originally in the neighborhood but the big problem was the the unit that they rented to us. Basically it had two large fluorescent bulbs that were burnt out. So the unit was dark. We asked several times and the answer was always the same..."we don't replace light bulbs. " Seriously? We are paying over $200 a month you would think that the rental unit would be clean and it would be ready to rent but three times upon moving in....upon telling them we were thinking of leaving....and then when leaving we got the same answer. So unfortunately I can't recommend this place because any place I've ever rented, they take care of basic things like having working light fixtures and lightbulbs in a unit. And also when you look at the picture you'll see they were not convenient to replace they were up high they were large and I would've needed to get a ladder to do it which they would not supply either. I could see if I bought a unit but I was renting it. read more

One of the overhead doors has been broken since January of 2017 and was reported at that time. This is now April of 2017 and the door has remained broken, causing customers to share just one loading bay. Not impressed. And, our bill keeps going up! Beware, our bill has increased by $18 per month, each year since 2015! ...That's $216/per year. read more

We have had a unit at this facility for many years and the managers come and go however currently, they have an excellent manager so lets hope she will stay with us. Her name is Deanna and she is super pro-active, ready to assist you and very upbeat & enthusiastic! The first thing that i noticed was how clean it is. Wow, it hasn't been this clean and tidy in a few years. In fact, a couple of years ago, I wrote a letter to senior management about how poorly this facility was being handled. But, now..... wow, what a breath of fresh air! Clean and inviting facility with a manager that waves, smiles and asks if she can help in anyway. PROS: Laura, the property manager, was very friendly. She was also very helpful in explaining the positive aspects of the storage facility. CONS: The two biggest downsides: they wrote down the incorrect gate access code on the card they gave me. When I attempted to access the facility, I was denied access. This was problematic, as I had a truck full of furniture and movers paid by the hour. I was almost forced to unpack all of our stuff and put it back into my house--and move all over again!! What a stressful nightmare!!! To make matters worse, they have a "CALL FACILITY MANAGER" button on the gate keypad. They have two keypad locations, both of which are broken--and we were unable to speak with a facilities manager to gain access. I can understand one of those mistakes-- but both of them almost forced me into an utter catastrophe. (Sorry for the hyperbole, but having to move and pay for movers twice can only be stated in extreme language. Moving is the worst.) Luckily, another member of the facility was kind enough to let us in, after we waited for half an hour outside--sweating bullets. Additionally, the first time I showed up, they actually closed their business 15 minutes prior to their stated closing time. Further gripes include, an unexplained "merchandise charge"-- of $20 (which I can only assume is to pay for a mandatory cylinder lock--she didn't tell me she was going to charge me $20 for it). You should also be forewarned that they require renter's insurance, which would cost you an extra $12 a month, at least. So make sure you factor that into the total price. This place isn't terrible, I'm sure it's great for most people. But these are major oversights which have made my subjective experience with Public Storage so far to be pretty terrible. read more

I chose this spot because of its proximity to my home and because it has climate controlled units. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent customer service afforded to me by Mike, who thoroughly listened to all of my needs, asked pertinent questions, and proceeded to find me the right locker on the first attempt. For a climate controlled environment, pricing was excellent (and they were running a first month free promotion) and Mike went over very thoroughly all of the charges and payment options. All in all, the entire experience has proven to be an excellent one, and would highly recommend this facility. read more

The facility is nice as far storage units go but beware of the hidden fees. The locks for the units are $19 and it was mentioned until I saw it on the bill. I was also told the their insurance is a requirement unless you can prove that your home owners policy covers your stuff in a storage unit... which most do by the way! After reading the fine print on the insurance brochure, it states that Public Storage not responsible for the lost of your stuff and that insurance is not required to rent from them. read more

I was told to leave a review, this is my review. The service was fine, the attendants were kind.

For the computer less than savvy people, just trying to write the review is the most difficult. Laura is fantastic, and she is very helpful and friendly. I have dealt with her for several years now. The person who didn't have the correct gate code should have tried it before leaving the facility. I did that same myself and did not try the code first. If I had, I could have gotten it corrected immediately. No one's fault but my own. Actually, each employee I have dealt with has been good, which fortunately, hasn't been that often as Laura is there most of the time Linda has been very good as well. Regarding the carts.....and other items....I think the company could spring for new ones more often and put a bit more into the property itself which sometimes is lacking a bit. It's the upkeep of the property that is quite important as well, especially since it is in the heart of the Colonial Town residential section. We take great pride in our community...... I'm sure the company can afford it.....it's the price of doing business. The employees can only do so much to keep the customers' opinions positive. The employees are great......the company could strive to do a bit better in my opinion. read more
