I have been renting here and I'm very disappointed with the service. I'm trying to get a hold of someone in upper management and can not get any help. The storage unit the door hung is broken and I wanted fixed and I'm told it's and guess that it will take 3 weeks. Meanwhile my personal things are not 100% secured.. This is not okay and now we are towards the end of the week and no phone call from anyone at Public Storage in Monrovia. I called 5 different Public Storage to see who can help me and no luck. I hate to leave a bad review but never forget to lock your unit, while moving out with a week left on my rent, I forgot to place the lock on the unit and was not able to come back the same day to lock it so they moved my stuffs out, removed me out of the system thus unable to gain access and charged me $150 cleaning fee. I came in at a reduced cost for getting renters in. I have had 2 rent increases in 1 year amounting to 150.15 increase over move in price. The staff and facility is clean and well secured. Still can't get gate access through app after updates. Frustrating to have to punch code in everytime. Initial move in date holes in walls that had to be repaired, couldn't get in rollup because slider lock was bent and had to be replaced. Took almost 2 weeks to rectify and be able to get belongings in unit. With all this said and 2 price increases in a year, I would consider looking elsewhere especially with no justification for rental increases and no gov agency regulating this. read more

Rented a unit just to find out the inside is constructed with flimsy sheet rock. This is not usually a problem for me as long as the flimsy sheet rock is adjacent to other units but one wall on mine is along an outside wall. It turns out that that very same sheet rock along the outside wall is barley attached and there's a big hole on the top. Kind of silly to have this big roll up steel door when three feet around the corner is some flimsy sheet rock you can pretty much pry off with your hands. All this for $500 advertised as $200 before they hit you up with admin fees and mandatory insurance. read more

We've rented from public storage a million times and never ever ever have we had any issues or problems. The property manager Nasia is RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL and should not be employed here or anywhere else. When we went in to rent the unit the office was hot and smelled so bad and the whole place looked so dingy. We got a unit for a couple weeks because we had to move a few things out of our house and our first storage wasn't big enough so we got this unit. Naisa took us to the unit which looked super shitty but honestly it didn't matter since we weren't gonna be here long. Long story short plans changed and we decided to have some of the items shipped long distance. Essentially a larger truck showed up and she wasn't happy even though there were maybe 2 customers on the lot. The truck was blocking a customers storage space but we had the trailer back in and out to let the customer pass and he was fine with it. It took about an hour and a half to load and the last half hour she came and sat with her car watching the moving crew load the items into the trailer. When we were all done we went to check our but she was no where to be found. A day later we got a bill for $75 for damages. I called the same day and spoke to another lady who said that Nasia did the walk through and there were damages so I told them to send me before and after pics and almost 2 months have passed with no pictures no calls or any communication. The are trying to charge me for damages that were there prior to our move. Do not store at this ghetto location. You're better off going to public storage at 150 N Halstead in Pasadena. The staff is way nicer and it's a cleaner location. read more

Rented a unit today before 5:30. We were told the entrance closes at 9. We returned at 8:53, unloaded and proceeded to the exit at 9:08. To our surprise our code did not work. When we called customer service we were informed that the exit gate also closes at 9 and that were were basically trapped inside. The person told us to park our cars, lock them, walk out through the pedestrian gate and good luck. Have you ever heard of such a thing?? Even when patrons are at your place of business you just decide to clock out and go home, leaving them stuck inside!!!??? We had the call the police department and they gave us a "special code" to use to finally get out. read more

Warning DO NOT COME HERE. The customer service is horrible. We rented a unit a few days ago and when we saw the unit, it was in horrible condition. We asked for our money back (which was close to$300!!) We were told that nothing could be done. After filing a complaint to a manager and then to corporate only $6 was refunded because they were charging rent for a month else werent even in yet?! Please don't waste your time or money coming here. We went to a different storage location and they were very understanding of our situation. I found this place off Yelp and could not help but notice the reviews. HUGE props to Edgar, who really runs the place like he owns it. He knew EVERYTHING about the place. He was on point about everything. From paperwork, pricing, and security all the way down to the right lock. I felt totally secure knowing that my stuff would be under his supervision and he was a lot more responsive than those dial-in centers. He is without question the best self storage rep, I have ever met. Tip to everybody. Make sure you get the space before the summer. Oh WoW! What a difference a good quality employee makes. I specifically rented my spot here about 4 years ago due to the great reviews regarding Edgar and his management of the location. Well...they fired Edgar for no reason about a year ago and since then this place has gone to S*&T! The service is non existent. The new staff are morons with no care or consideration of the customer. After 4 years I am closing my spot and moving on....not to mention they raise your prices every 6 months. Their business model is get you in at a decent price and then raise the price every 6 months figuring you won't move your stuff. You have to call and get a quote for a new spot within the facility, then go sign up and move your stuff. My spot is now $666 a month plus their stupid insurance!! Today was my move-in day and I'm happy to report that the whole process was a breeze. Liz and Edgar were the two who helped me out, and they were two of the most courteous people I've met. I went there because it is the closest to my home thinking I could go there to ask the questions I need before I move, for example what size unit I need, do tgey have any units available, and how much they charge on each different size unit, but this man in the office decided to mind his own business while I stood outside for a minute to see if he was going to acknowledge me. There was a sign on the door that said manager would be back by 2:30 and it was 11:00 am so I thought ok no big deal. I got back at exactly 2:00pm and the sign hours were changed to 9:00 which meant the following day. I called PS before I went to the facility and I spoke with Edgar. He was extremely knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and encouraged me to show up the next day. It was actually his service that made my decision to go with PS . When I went to the facility he very adeptly handled my business, as well as that of another customer without making either of us feel slighted or ignored. In fact, he didn't have the size storage available that the other customer was looking for but he helped the other customer with locating another PS that could service him. He didn't have me sign paperwork without explaining what I was signing, but gave me a brief, but comprehensive explanation of why each signature/initial was needed. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS! Public Storage is the absolute worst customer service ever. Our storage space was only contracted in my husband's name, and then he unexpectedly and suddenly passed away. We don't have an estate, or some big hidden treasure in this storage unit. It's all the holiday decorations, and memories, and beach chairs. Nothing fancy, but things that mean something to you. And even after providing his death certificate, and our marriage certificate, and a signed affidavit stamped by a public notary, they are still not letting me have access to my storage space. The entire reason now is because the notary said they need to provide a separate form and not sign on the Public Storage company form. So there's a district manager somewhere that's basically using the tiny amount of power she has to choose to not be helpful or compassionate. Screw you Public Storage. read more
