What ever you do don't rent from public storage. I was one of hundreds hit by Aug 2025 flood. I filed claim with Dave Coronado Sedgwick insurance. After 2 months of review they said ..." U don't have enough pictures. So I contacted contact6. That was 4 months ago. Annette from contact6 SAID.... They never responded...... I'll send another to them . I lost house full of furniture clothes cookware and sentimental. You make your own choice. read more

I rented a storage unit with Public Storage for 7 years and during that time, the unit tripled in price. When I was ready to move my stuff out of storage, I discovered mildew all over the wood and leather furniture. An internet search told me that mildew on wood and leather is caused by too hot of an environment. I paid the big bucks for climate control, having mildew on my things is unacceptable. Also, there was a serious moth infestation that ate my antique Peruvian wool upholstery and rats that chewed through many things. I found rat feces and urine on several things. read more

I WOULD NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY and the state consumer protection dept says they have the right to do it because I didn't sign a lease or contract just an agreement to rent the property! Store number 20701 Mycol Christopher. Really great guy. Tasha his fiance was nice too. This guy handled my reservation. First, I was looking for a unit that i can bring in a semi truck in and out that is close to the door. Well this facility does not have that, so he told me that another facility on dean street has it. So he went above and beyond and reserved another one at that location for me and he saved me tons of money for pay for 2 and half months. I was going to pay twice that at another storage place but now i don't have too. He read the guidelines and insurance information to me cause i didn't have my glasses. He was super nice. we had small talk about his passion for photography and how i teach video production. He was very detailed with everything. The best thing i can say is that he was very detailed with the information i was given. I wish he and Tasha worked at the one on Dean street and the other girl worked a the one on brown deer. We need more experience people at that one. read more

I'm not one to write reviews. And contemplated on writing this one. But I feel like people should know. Few weeks ago we purchased a camper, the first storage place didn't work so we found this one. The staff was nice, got us a spot to park. While we were pulling in a woman came out of nowhere and walked through the gate as it was opened. No car, no truck or uhaul. I thought it was a bit weird, as she wasn't staff either. But we continued on and parked our camper. Couple of weeks later we left with the camper to go camping over Labor Day weekend. We returned parked and left. We didn't return until a week later so we could take some stuff out and wash it at home. When my husband opened the camper he had realized that it had been broken into and a considerable about of stuff was stolen. Electronics, towels, plates, cutlery, pillows etc. come to find out multiple campers had been broke into and stuff was taken. When we initially signed the contract we were told that this location had 24 hour security and cameras through out. So we felt safe. The police were called and they came out to do finger prints and found nothing. Further talking to the staff, they admitted that the cameras did not work. So they have been lying to customers saying there was cameras. We decided to leave this location and got our money back. But I'm still really upset because we will never get our stuff returned to us it will never be found. So think twice before using this location for storage as the police believe that the person who stole is still living inside the gates. I feel as corporate should contact us and make this right. read more

I would suggest that Public Storage at 7415 West Dean Rd, Milwaukee, WI 53223 do the following for mine and other's SAFETY: 1. There needs to be cameras located in strategic areas to cover the entire very large lot. Some thoughts of safety for customers would be very thoughtful. 2. The trees over lapping the roof of the storage areas needs to be cut down. Bugs are entering my storage which I am paying a large sum of money to maintain. 3. I am totally over Public Storage. My things have been in storage since this original review and how have they thanked me for my business? By constantly hiking up the rate they misadvertised in the first place. That is ridiculous! WHY? My stuff sits in a cell that they don't interact with, maintain, or keep clean for that matter. I understand incremental revenue but the increase are insane! I am so disgusted that I am going to go move everything out of that storage unit and find another place or business to keep it. Pros: Public Storage offers the best prices in town for the best sized units. A 10x20 was only $107/month (U-Haul charges $145 (base price) for a 10x15), so that drew me away from U-Haul immediately. Cons: Like most people, I hate false or otherwise misleading advertising. Public Storage's website's advertised "1st month $1 storage" is grossly misleading. They tell you all you'll need at check-in is $25, $1 storage and $24 administrative fee. However, once you get there, they sock you in the face with a MANDATORY $20 lock fee and force you to pay for insurance (starting at $11/month). Insurance should be optional. The chances of anything happening is probably 1 in a million, yet they force you to pay $11-$15 per month? The lock only fits their units and is of no use to you after you no longer need their storage. Another rip-off. The cylinder locks that some of the other storage places allow are very secure, cost around $10, and can used by you after you're done with the storage unit. That should be the case everywhere. I did not like getting slapped in the face with an additional $31 in mandatory charges, ($19.99/lock and $11/insurance). Public Storage's advertised, "all you'll need at check-in is $25," quickly jumped to more than double? Not cool! Adding a notation such as, "plus lock and insurance" would be the ethical thing to do. Summation: The bottom line is Public Storage currently has the best prices in town. After the initial shock and disappointment of the unforeseen, mandatory, rip-off charges, they can save you around $30 and up per month on what most of the storage places charge. read more

Michele was very helpful and professional during my initial lease. I received an online discount and only time will tell if the rate is hiked as other reviewers have indicated. So far it has been a good experience. I was a little nervous about the paragraph in the lease where you are required to indemnify them and hold them harmless for any loss. This means they have no responsibility at all if something happens to your items during storage. read more

Bait and switch, NO OUTDOOR LIGHTING (as of 11/30/2016), dishonest, not a secure location. Online reserved price not honored even after multiple confirmations. Signed up for a Yelp account just to warn you about this and all Public Storage locations. For the second time in a month (first time at the Germantown location) I made a reservation online for a set monthly price and upon arrival the location refused to honor the price in my reservation confirmation email. Location manager called me to confirm my reservation an obnoxious 3 times, and after my first experience I confirmed with her over the phone the unit size and price. I also received an email the day before confirming everything again with correct unit size and price, and in the end they used the excuse that my reservation was expired and that price was no longer valid. First of all that's BS because you can't make a reservation online beyond a certain date, which was the last day the reservation would be valid, but second of all she never thought to mention on any of the 3 calls "hey the day you're scheduled to move in your reservation will be expired. Do you want to come sooner??" Unbelievable. On my last trip to the unit, just after the sun had just gone down, I returned to find all outside flood lights, including the Public Storage sign, completely dark. I asked the property manager about it and she said the lights are not working right now (as of 11/30/2016), that she could not say when they would be repaired, made the excuse that vendors needed to bid and get approved etc. When I asked how long they'd been out she had no idea. The property manager had no idea. To me that indicates they've been out a while. That made moving in fun. Also doesn't make me feel like my stuff is safe in the pitch dark, especially after witnessing several times multiple cars entering after the front car entered their code. Avoid this location and all Public Storage locations if possible. What a nightmare. read more

I didn't get a first good impression of this place over the phone. But when I got there, totally different story. Apparently the guy couldn't hear me on the phone, so he was just saying yes. But Michelle took good care of me. She explained the differences in the sizes and how best to store things. She let me preview some of the units so I could gauge which one was best for my needs, she explained everything in detail about renting from them - the good & bad. Very friendly and helpful. read more
