Used Five Star Movers for our move at the end of June as we didn't want to deal with moving our items ourselves. Just so happened to be the hottest day of the year. We supplied plenty of water (and bought lunch-which I was happy to do so). The owner only had 2 guys to to the job after he admitted he should have have 3. One guy was more concerned about some bill he owed that he was on his phone and even said, I may need to leave and come back. The same guy also wasn't feeling well and cramped up due to the heat. I offered to call the EMT's but he declined. They needed to stop the job early and took the second load to Waukesha to be locked up and had to return the next day. Owner asked my husband on both days to help out to make it go faster. If we wanted to move ourselves, we would had hired an Uhaul. read more

We packed most of the boxes in advance but there were many trips and a lot of individual pieces to load. These guys showed up on time and worked very hard. This ended up being a horrible experience. When I ordered the move, I was told I would have a 26 ft truck, but I got a 16 ft truck. The 2 very helpful young movers could NOT get everything I had to move in the truck. Now I am nearly 68 and didn't have any way I could get all the rest alone. I did get a lot of things into our 2 cars, but not everything. My closing on this was the following morning at 9. The buyer was not happy about all of my things that were left behind. I told him to trash it all. The movers themselves were nice and accommodating, but I consider this the worst move I ever experienced (there have been many). Things we damaged and lost because of squeezing thing in to a much to small truck. I would have gladly paid more to get it all. read more

These guys were great; I would absolutely recommend them. My family has moved a few times in the past 10 years, with some less-than-stellar experiences. Prior to this past move (with a company other than 5-Star), it took 3 weeks to get our stuff delivered, and their original estimate was off, so, at final delivery we owed more money than we were originally quoted. When it came time to move again, I was very apprehensive. I started packing a PODS unit so that we would have some of our stuff right away, so even if the movers were weeks late we would have beds, clothes, and other necessities. I knew it would be difficult to move the larger furniture, so instead of getting a second PODS unit I decided to hire a mover for everything that I didn't pack in the PODS. A friend had just moved, and (although it was a local move - I was moving several states away) I asked about the movers she had used, which was 5-Star. She said they were great, and recommended them. I sent them an email, and the owner (Isac) got back to me within 2 hours. He was helpful, we had an in-person walkthrough, and he quoted me a price in an email. We scheduled a move for the day after Thanksgiving. At 8 AM the day after Thanksgiving Isac and his driver Lance showed up. There was a miscommunication: Lance was told that it was just loading the truck; that there was no packing - It seems Isac might have misunderstood me in the initial walkthrough or forgot that I would have some general items that needed to be packed. DESPITE THIS: Isac said, "No worry, I'll work it out". Isac and Lance quickly got extra hands to help, and jumped in themselves, getting everything packed and loaded by 2 pm. Two days later, everything was delivered safely to our new home. It took a week to get the PODS. When all was said and done, the price we paid was the price that Isac originally quoted us (minus less than $100 in incidentals, like mattress bags and small things like that). No "extra weight" upcharges, no "sorry, I thought we were only doing a pick up and not a partial pack", no surprises. All of our stuff arrived undamanged. I would definitely recommend 5-Star Movers, and I would use them again. Isac is honest, straightforward and helpful. Lance is the best - he's quick, efficient, friendly, and a genuine good guy. I tried to later hire him to move my car (which was coming at a later date), but unfortunately he was unable to move it at the time that I needed. Asked for a quote thru Yelp on a Sun and didn't expect to hear anything until Monday but within about 30 min I had a quote from Isaac! Isaac likes everything to be emailed - number of rooms, anything to assemble, how many boxes, the address, etc. Got a call the day before (Memorial Day) confirming my appt the next day for 9:30-10 a.m. 6/1. I was extremely pleased that the guys (Alex and Robert) showed up at 9:10 a.m. These guys are super awesome to work with - professional, quick, very friendly, and seemed happy to be doing a job I would absolutely loathe (that's why I always hire movers!). I usually expect some scuffs on furniture during a move - not one! I have a couch that has a great deal of sentimental value to me and I told Robert and Alex that was the only thing I cared about not scuffing - they understood and handled it with kid gloves! I've had movers that I've had to tell to stay off their cell phones and let's get moving - not these guys! If they did check their phones I never noticed - they were constantly moving. Never trust a cheap mover who only takes Cash. We had a long move to California and made the error of contacting this joke of a so called moving company. I have no idea how they can be getting reviews any higher then Zero if it was available on Yelp. Like so many previous reviews this owner Isaac is interested in one thing-$.60 a pound and being paid in Cash or Check. I wonder where all that cash goes. Hmmm I wonder why he doesn't take a credit card. Think about it what company in today's world doesn't take Credit cards? It really should have been a tip off and my husband warned me but I do like supporting a local company. Big error in judgement. They had no idea how to move a treadmill and a rower. Almost broke it in two and snapped off the balcony. Then we had items go missing and he Isaac warns you to put away all valuables. We did get back what was taken. Luckily enough what was taken was not of great value but that's not the point. Delays and excuses. They use rental trucks. It all smells or should I say stinks of a cheap, cheap owner looking for a way to pinch every penny. He seemed clueless and acted arrogant. His office is nothing more then a small warehouse. My hubby went to take a look when I told him we were having issues since he was at work. Likes to act the big man meanwhile nothing more then a guy with no staff and a tiny place with no trucks. Who knows if he even has insurance. Luckily my husband called a friend who know another moving company so we were quickly able to tell them to stop the move and leave. The other movers came literally the next day, packed all our belongings with their own semi and made out to our new home before us. We used Fiver Star Movers WI of Waukesha for our recent move to Shorewood WI and I was very satisfied with the service we received from the time we set up our appointment. Fiver Star Movers were recommended by one of my best friends who have previously used them twice, last time during their move to their 1st house in Bay View. As my friend mentioned they were very professional, helpful, careful and got the job done in 4 hours. Our move was a sudden move because we got the moving date from our current property management company 2 weeks prior to the date we moved. We also had a vacation trip overseas planned for the weekend before which we couldn't cancel. So we did the best we could with packing prior to the trip and the 3 days we had since we got back to the US. We moved on a Sunday so the rates were a little higher but that was a very smart decision because we had all day/night Saturday to pack. With the help of a good friend we packed as much as we could but we still had a lot of things as is not even touched. The movers arrived 10 minutes prior so they came in and assessed what they had to do. They started out with the boxes, square items and stacked those up like a wall 1st. Then they moved the furniture and other big items last. I was a bit nervous with our huge leather couches but they got those out and in to the new place without a scratch. Our movers Tony and his co-worker whose name I cannot remember (sorry), were very professional, communicative, suggested many safety precautions, labelling suggestions to make things easier for unpacking and most importantly took no breaks during the move. At one point I had to ask them whether they needed a break because I was getting tired myself as a person who works out 5 days a week. The guys jokingly suggested I should come work for the moving company because we were doing some heavy lifting that day but the movers seemed to be pretty immune to the lifting. The movers set up our furniture at the appropriate places at the new place and even took the boxes into the appropriate rooms based on the labelling they suggested, which made it very easy for us to unpack. Our move was completed in a total of 4.75 hours (1 hour for travelling from and back to the office in Waukesha, which is standard practice). Isac was very helpful and professional from the moment we called for a quote. He also followed up the next day to see how things went. I also got a courtesy call from Isac when the movers left the office in the morning to give me a timeframe. Overall this is the moving company you want to use for your next move. read more

Yes you become frustrated with a business when it runs the way yours did, nothing I said was a lie these are all things I dealt with during the job not a revenge review just a heads up as you can see my name is recommended in alot of the reviews posted on yelp...... Again it us the movers who show up to your doorstep and leave you with a smile after the job is finished not knowing the stress we go thru to satisfy the customer when the owner doesn't provide the proper tools to do the job or etc. I can't count how many times we were embarrassed because we had to ask the customers for tools to take a bed frame or a dinning room table apart. And when you have every thing packed up that becomes the hardest box to find.......I loved my job the people you meet make it worth it. The smile on the customers face is all that matter to me which meant providing a great service . So disappointing! Initial contact was great and attentive however, that all changed after my boxes were loaded onto the truck. Two weeks later and no Updated, I Found out that my boxes were still in a warehouse. Eventually they were loaded on another truck only to find out the driver was making six stops in six different states. Delays and more delays. Finally two random trucks show up with damaged boxes, damaged furniture, and lost boxes. The driver had no clue and more importantly neither did five star movers. Now no news, no contact. I was only told to wait because they couldn't reach the trucking company. Now I realize why he made me pay cash and he focused on insurance as being 60 cents per pound. What a sham obviously this happens way too often. Nonetheless my boxes and my personal items are lost. No word from 5 star. Never trust your move to this company. Shame on you! read more

This is the second time now that my husband I have used 5 Star Movers. The service is outstanding! They moved everything in a quick and efficient and polite manner. Most importantly they did not break or damage anything! Today, the owner asked the two movers to disassemble my bed free of charge which was a major help since we did not have the tools. They should change their name to 10 star movers. Had a move several weeks ago from Waukesha to Racine. Even though it was quite a distance the 2 guys worked very hard and were able to find the destination quickly. They were only a few minutes behind my husband. The whole move with driving times to Racine and back to Waukesha was only a little over 4 hours. I have used other movers in the past that have three men. Always seemed like one was a slackers so this was a a lot more efficient. Also not being charged for an extra mover during the drive time. The price charged was less than the estimate. We had a complicated move from Mequon, Wisconsin to Little Rock Arkansas with a large 5 bedroom home. Since we were going into an apartment while we remodeled a home we bought in Little Rock, we had Five Star pack us in Milwaukee, and put our contents into storage. They sent several packers and they were all excellent and careful. Everything was very well marked on the boxes so we knew what everything was when we unpacked. We originally thought our contents would be about 6 months in storage, but it ended up being close to a year in storage. When our house was finally finished, the movers brought all of our contents to Little Rock. Everything was in perfect shape and we didn't have any broken or missing items. They were professional and exceeded our expectations. They showed up exactly when promised on both ends and did a good job with communications all along the way. I was originally scheduled with another well-known moving company, but was recommended 5 Star Movers. Their price quoted was much better and they were willing to start the day when I wanted them to rather than telling me when (the other company). I had packed everything up beforehand and the move was about 10 miles- so all in one day. They were on time, hustled, and were courteous. My only complaint would be that I wish they would have put down some floor coverings or something at my new place as the carpet got dirty from them walking in and out. I like to promote and use small start up companies, but this was a nightmare. The owner himself doesn't know how to move furniture. He showed up with a rental truck and 2 movers. They were not experienced, did not have the right tools or supplies for moving my things without damage. They damaged a electric fireplace/entertainment center and did not tell me. I had them put it in the basement and my mistake did not check the condition of the furniture that was left down there. The owner took a bookshelf of mine and pushed it along my laminate flooring instead of picking it up. I told them I had a treadmill that had to be moved and they broke my basement railing and still did not know how to move it. I ended up telling them to leave it there and I had to hire another move to move it properly. Save your money and stay away. read more

Very reasonable prices. I also moved belongings into storage while building a new home. I was kept informed of what to expect and Isac was always available if I had questions, and returned calls promptly. His loading crew was energetic, fast and careful and worked hard despite the heat and humidity that day. It is true that there are multiple loads picked up and delivered across the country and delivered in an efficient pattern, but I knew this from day one and was given a range of dates. My things arrived within that window and I heard from the driver, as he was traveling, with updates. The paperwork had all the information needed, including my son's contact numbers, as he was there when my things were unloaded into storage in another state. He was called by the driver on the way as well. There was one item damaged during the drive, but the driver completed the claim paper work on the site. No move is perfect, but this was pretty darn close. It is not uncommon for movers to request cash or money orders, so that was not a surprise for me. One other thing I will mention is that Isac gives young men a chance to learn and take responsibility, helping prepare them for better futures. He was there to help them learn packing and loading techniques from his 45+ years of experience, and one of the young men told me how he had been helped with financial problems so he could get out of debt and support his daughter.
