When visiting a unit in winter we found a heater condensate pipe running through the wall had frozen, burst and sent corrosive water on our things. The office was unstaffed and the 800 was unable to contact anyone for help. My 82 yr old husband and I had to move heavy items to safety, a three hour effort! Public Storage ignored our calls for help and a simple repair that was made would not prevent the same situation again, indeed it has refrozen within a day. I dreaded looking for a new company until I found STORAGE SENSE. WOW! What a change for the better! A great new facility on Sunset Drive in Waukesha, WI, is a solid, clean, secure structure with an on-site manager that really understands customer service. Erik made finding new space to move our things easy and at a better cost than Public Storage. It is a comfort to know that having someone on-site is important to STORAGE SENSE. As we had a massive truck load of belongings during non-business hours, our lock on initial unit would not work. We got a hold of Jeremiah who was employed at the time as 'manager' as we were told. He just told us to simply put it in another unit for now as the lock was deemed ineffective and this additional unit was paid for through the end of the year. So my wife contacted him days later to fix our initial lock and move our belongings into our initial storage unit. Jeremiah insisted we could leave our belongings in the additional unit and EVEN GAVE US A KEY for the new unit. On September 30th when we closed on a new home and were hoping to move our belongings we opened the additional unit and it was completely EMPTY. This company had auctioned off half of our belongings to our name. We had couches, cribs, strollers, TVs, 30 years worth of clothes, unopened wedding gifts, and the list goes on and on and on. Not only did they auction off this additional unit - but their current staff showed ZERO remorse or compassion and were extremely combative throughout the process. To be clear - we had zero intention of using an additional unit and if they called us we would have paid for the additional unit if needed (even though Jeremiah claimed it was 100% okay to use) - we were never given the opportunity to do so and because of that roughly 30k of belongings were auctioned off and my late fathers belongings, my children's baby boxes, and my wife and my self's baby boxes are in the hands of a stranger as well. The employee who answered my call regarding this issue continuously hangs up and refuses to have a conversation regarding this issue. While they weren't obligated to help me in any way, the manager not only helped me jump start it with his truck, but also called a relative to come help in case we couldn't get it started.
