First 2 months was reasonable for my unit. $60ish however rent increased to $150 and it hasn't even been a full year. Also can't use the trash bins outside and they want to charge an additional $20 a month for 24/7 access to the stuff you store. read more

I moved my boxes to the storage unit within two months they raised my rent $40. No reason why. I will be moving out as soon as I get an opportunity. It's too cold right now. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. I normally don't give reviews, but everyone needs to know the scam they're pulling. I would really like to give them a zero rating! read more

Besides the fact that I told them I'm in a wheelchair and I needed a unit with drive up access and I get there and unit is inside(awesome) So I'm stuck struggling for hours trying to push a cart down a hallway multiple times yeah amazing customer service Clean unit and area But c'mon now, don't you think I have enough problems with out this ? read more

Lost my key. Was told I had to get it cut or order a new one. Went online to order a new one and was told my storage manager will be able to assist me. So I guess I'm paying for these guys to hold my stuff forever because nobody can help me read more

Only rented here for a total of a month but everything about this place was great. Staff is extremely friendly and informative! They are sure you know everything about your rental before you leave. Easy to access and the online promo was great for me if not I'd be spending double elsewhere! Great place for storage! read more

Dan wasn't in the office when I first walked in. However, all arrangements have been made, the key and unit we're ready, all I needed to do was store my items and pay the fee. Dan called me a week later asking if they were any issues, which there were none. Please read the not recommended reviews because they're all just like this one,quick,simple, easy storage. read more

Great for short term renters, they entice you with specials then they raise the rent 3 to 5 months later. They went up 30 dollars on me which I thought was high. Other than that they are clean. read more

Very straight forward. Dan the manager was efficient, helpful and polite. Moving in was easy since they have drive up access. I chose this location over the one closer to me because of the drive up access. I like that their access hours are longer than the other nearby storage places to choose from. My unit is clean and so far I haven't had any issues. read more

Very unreliable access to this location. Several times, (more than 5!) In the last two months have we encountered issues with the gates not opening with our access code...the gates only opening half way then never closing. Now all panels are covered with out of order notes and workers can't show up before 9:30 to open them manually? So...no access til 930 when it opens at 6am and access shut down at 330pm when the part timer leaves? Paying for access and nobody seems in any rush as this problem has been lingering at least two months and was told there is no date yet as to when this will be repaired. A very nice man behind the counter does the best he can to explain these issues and then he goes behind the scenes in emails some powerful all-knowing Oz behind the scenes who never has a single helpful plan or solution. Dan, the manager was very professional and helpful. I ordered the unit I wanted online and Dan contacted me right away and made arrangements for me to view the unit and sign the contract. The whole process took less than 30 mins. We moved in that day and it was just the right size. I was very pleased with the customer service at this location!! Thanks Dan!! read more

Dan was very professional. Even though he's required to try to sell you extras like a lock or insurance, he's not too pushy. Public Storage's prices are better than other storage places. The units are clean and well kept. read more

Very clean unit. Easy access. I signed up online and received a call quickly to confirm. I received reminder calls prior to the day I was to come in to sign the contract. Staff was very nice. Moving into the unit has been easy. The only thing, is the lights are not turned on after dark. These should have motion sensors so that people can see into their until when they are trying to move in items after dark. read more

We decided to get a storage unit to help lighten the load on moving into our new home. I ordered the unit online and was contacted right away to make arrangements to view the unit and sign the contract if it met with our approval. The process takes some time (around 20 mins) and the manager was very professional and helpful. We had to buy the lock and while he's required to try to sell extras like insurance (which you may not need if you have homeowner's insurance - check your policy or call your agent) he wasn't pushy at all and accepted my answer that it wasn't needed because I knew we had enough coverage with our homeowner policy. The unit is very clean and we moved some things in that day, which was easy since they have drive up access. The only strange thing was a list of questions he asked in order to fill out a form with a list of things we were going to store - we found that a little strange since our stuff was going to be locked up, but we answered to the best of our ability. We took advantage of the $1 first month rent and ended up paying around $45 after lock and taxes and whatever else, but it was worth it, and there is no additional time period required in order to use of the first month for $1 special. We haven't had any other experiences with renting a storage unit, but the experience has been great and I definitely recommend this location if you need a storage unit. read more

History

Established in 1972.

The first Public Storage building opened in El Cajon California, but the new business was only supposed to be temporary. Two partners pioneered the concept as a way to use their real estate investment while they waited for the Southern California community to take off and value of their land to grow. They kept building, and people continued to fill their units. Eventually the pair realized that self-storage was here to stay, and they never looked back. Today, there are thousands of neighborhood Public Storage locations to choose from, many right around the corner from you.

Everything went smoothly. My only complaint is that it's VERY hard to open and close the sliding door to my storage cube. Even the moving guys had a hard time. I had to go back a few days later and found it very difficult myself, and a sign on the door said they'd return in an hour. It was 11:30am and I didn't have an hour to wait for someone to help me. Luckily after about 10 minutes of trying I was finally able to close it.

We arrived on time to pick up our scheduled rental, but were directed to go through an endless gauntlet of BS on the buggy Uhaul app. App is extremely user-unfriendly and contradictory - except for the part where $19.99 turns into over $100 with extra fees, it sure did that efficiently enough. The vehicle warned that there was an issue with the tire pressure safety system, we brought this to the attention of the attendee and was told that this was normal as the sensor must have fallen off. He then kicked the rear tire in question and told us that it would be fine and to "have fun!" and reminded us to 'drink plenty of water.' Uhaul's system attempted to gaslight us by sending a text message 'reminding' us of our scheduled time to return the truck - 5 hours early. We confirmed in the app that the text message was wrong, but upon dropoff (another half hour and horrid experience out in the freezing cold), it tried to bump up the charge. Attendant said that we were either late, over mileage, or had not fully filled the gas; all three of which were untrue. I recommend trying another company. If you are forced to rent from this location, take note: when they ask if they can introduce you to the app, you should probably say 'no, I don't have a smartphone'. You may save yourself a migraine.

Returned a truck to this location during business hours but none of the employees could be bothered…read moreto handle the return. We sat in the vehicle and waited for an employee to come out and handle the return as the sign instructed us to do. Two employees stood in front of the truck having a spirited conversation and ignoring us until after ten minutes they walked inside the building leaving us there. Since none of the employees seemed to be interested in handling the turn-in, we used the app and did the after hours return. Once we completed the after hours turn-in, we were prompted to move the truck out of the turn-in lane and park in the lot, then take a picture to upload it into the app. Instead, I walked inside where four employees were standing around as one customer was walking out. I tossed the keys on the counter and commented about how busy they were and thanked them for leaving us out there unattended to. One of the employees who was outside gabbing with his buddy for ten minutes said they were very busy. Clearly they couldn't be bothered to attend to customers trying to turn a truck in.

Pam has been a delight to work with. The physical property is easy to get around and very well maintained - better than other properties I have had storage at in the past. I hate this company so much. They just don't care at all. You have your stuff there and now they can just keep gouging you. Pure greed, and in a financial crisis and a pandemic. Go anywhere else. Their business plan is to crush you financially until you don't pay and then auction your things and start again with the next victim. There is nothing that could happen to these thieves that is horrible enough for me to feel even the tiniest bit sorry for them.

The storage facility is close to where I will be moving so it is quite convenient. Dan the manager explained everything to me in great detail. The facility is neat, clean, well cared for and in a good location. The hours when we can come are great and the facility is well lit and secure. The price was right for the amount of time I will need it. The other facility on Tolland Tpke. was also nice and very close to where I need to be but they did not have the size storage space I wanted. All in all a good experience. read more
