I was fairly pleased initially with what I felt was a great price for a 10x15 climate controlled…read moreinterior unit. The local management team was very nice and the location handy. But, 21 months later the rental price had doubled. I considered keeping the unit, but when it was clear rats had infested the unit with droppings and eaten ceiling insulation was everywhere, including on nice furniture -- I decided to get my act together, deal with the extra stuff, and vacate.

Don't let this company affect your whole vacation. I called ahead and spoke with Sue. My wife arrived early, did the paperwork, and got two codes. One for regular gate access, and one for after-hours access. I had also made arrangements to have 24 hour access for the rest of the week since we we're planning to fish into the night and would not be returning before the regular 9pm access. When I arrived the first night at 11:15, neither of my codes worked. I settled down to spend the first night of my vacation sleeping in my truck, as the resort area does not allow boat/trailers inside. After struggling to get comfortable in the truck, I decided to try calling corporate customer service and after holding for a long time, got a hold of a guy who after hearing the story, made an attempt to override the gate locks and let me in. I parked my boat and left for my rental home, exhausted by the hassle and delay . I came to pick up our boat for an offshore fishing trip that was scheduled to last into the night. I stopped by the office to get a new code for the late access. I spoke with Travis who apparently knew about the overnight gate fiasco from the message we left on the answering machine when we were trying to get in. He looked at the two cards and said that neither of the two codes was an after hours code. The one that we were originally given was actually an auction access code. He called his boss, Sharon to get the new after-hours code approved and she said no. Now these people, who took my money, made a deal that inspired me to tow my boat six hours, burn extra fuel, and spend part of my vacation trying to sleep in my truck, are going back on their promises and preventing me from the night fishing trip my family has been promised. Despite what they politely commit to when they are taking your money, they will not honor those promises. Don't let them take your vacation time and hard-earned money!

They should take responsibility for their inability to maintain their facility properly. We had been renting an inside, climate-controlled 5x10 space for over 10 months. On 30 January 2025, we went to move our items out of that space and into a 10x10 space. Once we moved the first boxes at the entrance of our locker, we noticed that there were puddles of water on the floor and that it had soaked into our boxes and damaged our items. Numerous items were covered in mold and were ruined. Upon further inspection, it was obvious that water had leaked from the outside door of the facility and leaked across the facility floor into our storage locker. I immediately went to the office and got Patrick, who worked for Public Storage. He took videos and pictures as well, acknowledging that the water had enter from the outside and leaked into our unit. I showed him our damaged items and also provided him additional pictures via text message. He said we would notify Sherrie, the DM and that she would be in touch. This was on 30JAN2025. On 10 FEB, I contacted the Public Storage "WE CARE" line since the Sherrie, the DM had still not reached out to me. On 11 FEB, Sherrie did contact me and said that there is nothing they could do since I did not purchase insurance from Public Storage. My damage was caused because the Public Storage facility did not properly provide environmental protection from the outside elements (rain). Employees should have noticed the water running in from the outside, through the door, and into my unit. If they had done proper checks and maintenance, they could have notified me earlier of possible water leaking into my unit, and we could have prevented this damage. This was not caused by one event. This was caused by numerous events over a period of time.

Everything is now handled on line, from reserving the unit, to getting the security codes, to setting up the monthly payments. On our most recent rental I took care of it all from my recliner in less than 10 minutes. The facility we're using is clean, well lit, and secure. The on-site moving carts are always in great shape. Public Storage makes it very easy and convenient.
