The day of, we were called to let us know that they did not have any pickup trucks so we asked if they would be able to work with us because we needed a UHaul for this specific day (note that there is a $50 back guarantee if they do not have your truck) .They informed us that they could upgrade us for free and we agreed. The reservation continued, we picked up the keys and went on our way. An hour later we returned the UHaul and due to our lunch break being only so long we hurried out and left the key on the counter and informed the woman we were in a rush. She replied, okay. Minutes after we received a receipt from UHaul for $100+. We were originally quoted $20. Then $50 with fees(??) And then the receipt showed we owed them for 8 GALLONS of gas over a recorded time of 30 minutes. How is that even possible. I returned to the location to speak to them in person because they NEVER answer their phones (I have tried on a separate occasion) and she informed me that because I did not take check in photos they could not do anything for me and I would have to wait for their manager to contact me. I would say this is fair IF not for the fact that NOBODY told us about this step? If it was so important how did the man fail to mention this to us at check in? Also how does a $20 in town pickup truck add up to $100? Make this make sense.
