I've been renting at Extra Space Storage in [City, Location] for over a year. When I started, my…read moreunit cost $227 per month. Without warning, the rate jumped to $384 -- a nearly 70% increase in less than 12 months. When I contacted the office to discuss it, I was told there was nothing they could do, not even prorate the current month when I gave notice that I planned to vacate. The facility itself is clean and safe, but the way this company treats loyal customers is disappointing. If you're considering renting here, be aware that your "introductory" rate won't last, and you may face steep hikes with little to no recourse.

My gf arrived to help me load the few items, I was transporting onto my trailer. She mentioned jokingly something about the facility closing at 10 pm and hoped they'd let us out the gate. Ladies and gents, we were locked in the facility for over an hour. The woman who owns it/lives above the office, refused to help is as this stores policy is not to interact with customers after business hours. We had to call 911 who sent a Jasper deputy or PD to let us out. The kicker is that the manager who lives upstairs was on the phone with the officer to let us out and gave him the code to do it instead of coming down stairs and doing it her lazy self!! The officer informed is that this was the first time he had come out but had heard it has happened before more than once. The legal out they give themselves is that the pedestrian gate was open... meaning we were free to escape if we left our things and vehicles there. Worst of all the manager wrote my gf (the property owner) a scathing email the next day threatening her with trespassing and distributing the peace. She also threatened to evict her if there was another "incident" mind you I was talking loudly about how horrible a business it to hold their patrons hostage against their will, all the while she was peering out the window above us... very "it puts the lotion on its skin..." If we had the money, time or energy to change storage locations...we % would! But again... we feel trapped

As i'm driving around the corner this dude comes zooming out of some gravel parking spots and has to slam on his brakes to keep from hitting my car. I proceed to find my storage unit, park next to building, and this dude has the GALL to come holler at me to roll down my window, then asks if i need help. And i'm like no sir just waitin on my pops bringing some stuff to storage. And then proceeds to say something dickish about the fact that I looked like i needed help and something about him almost hitting me. I didn't completely hear the end of what he was saying but like dude was CLEARLY pissed that his dumbass almost hit ME, because HE was zooming through the parking lot on the golf cart. So hey management, next time one a your guys is zooming through the parking lot on his golf cart and almost hits somebody, how about you slow the fuck down and get off the golf cart instead of approaching the customer and saying some rude shit as if it was MY fault YOU had to slam on your brakes as i'm going even below the speed limit of the complex tryin to find my storage unit. Yes i know i cursed a few times but like that's just unacceptable. I don't like confrontation and i don't like having issues with folks, especially when i didn't do a damn thing wrong to him. He was pissed because he almost hit me and had to come say somethin to me to brush his ego. Would give a -10 star if i could. lol. Older white dude. Probably 50's.
