Since day one I have had great service at this location. Jamal at the front desk was very professional, and patient, as there were many people coming in and out constantly asking questions or needing assistance all while he was trying to help us. When I was out of state, I called needing his assistance, and he was more than willing to help me out. I was grateful because I was 3000 miles away, and would not be able to do anything from where I was at. They were informative about the locks. I could use any one I wanted, but they recommended their locks because they are more difficult to break into. When I looked at the difference between the one I had brought with me, and their preferred lock, I ended up buying their lock! Also - bring a tarp, or purchase one there. They do recommend it for the storage areas that are not heated, and suggest that you don't put things up against the wall if you don't need to. Overall - helpful suggestions, and good service. 6/3 Public storage called Evanston law enforcement on me for being in my unit too long, I already explained why,to staff,but was greeted by law enforcement,one officer put his hand on his sidearm and said the property manager wanted me off the premises,eventhough I have 24 hour access My life was put in jeopardy for being in my paid unit too long,asbi've lost important medications,and an artist,who works nocturnal. The property management never returns phonecalls,stated he didn't show up until 1:30pm the day ibattemtedbto downsize. Staff shows favoritism to the local student bidy,and privileged,but criminalize African americans,i,'ve seen some large units set up like garages,but a black artist in a 5'x10' space is a threat? I've been courteous,butbstaffvtreats you like their in a hurry to do nothing. I havevstill not received a response from corporate or the property managers who called law enforcement on me. In order to use data you need to exit the storage spaces in thebinterior,the property manager admitted you can't use data on the top floors,so sitting in the elevator lobby to use your phone warrants a deadly situaltion? They could've entered the premises,but waited until I exited with MY items.,blocking me from my Uber. Evanston,IL has is not what it claims to be,as systemic racism, and gatekeepers pullbthe wolves over the publics eye's. I was targeted because I am african american and not a Northwestern student, and not privileged,but you received your $95.00 for my unit. No problems with the company until you have a problem and want to talk to someone. Even someone at the location your unit is at. I'm 15 miles from my unit and after about 12 calls, only hit a general customer service member, who gave me an inactive number for the property manager, a local number for the location I'm at which only switched me to their National number, and a disconnect when I actually got a person. First, let me be clear that my concerns are not about onsite staff. Andre is a friendly and decent guy. Sometime in the last few months, I am told that the district manager decided to cut off my lock. Originally, I was told that it was due to a past due balance. Then I was told that my lock was simply missing and they decided to lock it for me. When I visited the unit, Andre granted me access by removing their lock. I found my lock inside the unit with the tumbler drilled out. Clearly, they mistakenly cut my lock and entered my unit. Instead of admitting their error, they lied to me. They also raised the unit rent by $50 during this same timeframe. This does not sound like a trustworthy place to store your valuables. read more

No employee on-site during promised hours. Loading dock (a reason we choose this location and these hours) locked. I called corporate and explained the situation. At first she seemed sympathetic and called management. Then she said the hours were "whenever management was in" despite the hours being listened on the door. Bad experience. We rented the unit on the first floor of Greenbay Rd. We rented it, and when we actually went to place our items in the unit a couple of months later, there was black mold all over the walls. We never put our things there and vacated immediately, but the company still wanted to charge us for the month. I gave them the opportunity to rectify the situation by refunding our payment, but they decided that it wasn't worth it. Poor facilities and customer service. I strongly recommend against using this company. read more

Worst experience ever. After having a unit on second floor for 2 years, elevator went out and remained broken with no communication to renters. I was unable to move big objects into the unit. I talked to the on site employee. He couldn't do anything. I contacted customer service. They couldn't do anything. I called the district manager 3 times and left messages. Never received a response. No credit issued or offered. No communication. Awful customer experience. So, I rented a new unit at iStorage on Greenwood and got a much better unit, more convenient, great customer service and less expensive. So, I closed out my unit and will never use Public Storage again. Just not worth it. read more

I'd give them negative stars if I could. This is not an "I'm bitter" review, it's a "here's the facts and they speak for themselves" review. Needed to store my college student's belongings for summer. Came to check it out in April. Needed smallest unit available. Was told I could not reserve one that early. Was told they bill monthly and units are always available, so I called one month prior to when I needed it. I was given a reservation, got a confirmation text, email and personal call from the manager confirming the reservation. I showed up on the day of the reservation to be told they were sold out. This was with a fully packed vehicle in the driveway and an hour before they and most other storage facilities close. Ironically, for an upcharge, they could get me a larger unit. I suggested they comp it for my inconvenience. Manger on duty took the "yeah, like that's gonna happen" approach. I called their #800 number, shockingly, they had a unit available across town at their other location, but couldn't honor the price I had sealed in with my (worthless) reservation. Seems like a little (lot) of bait and switch if you ask me. How convenient that both locations had a way of making more money while I was held hostage on their driveway with my car full of stuff. Happy to say my items are now stored at another facility with helpful friendly people for half the price this fiasco would have cost me to begin with. read more

Updated: They have replaced the broken carts. Pros: 1) Great location, right off Green Bay Road 2) Nice employees Cons: 1) FIXED: Broken carts, 2 of the 3 carts have broken - wheels and are unusable, not mention that they are chained to the wall and you need to check them out during business hours only 2) Still an issue: Poor lightning, dark hallways makes hard to move stuff around 3) Still an issue: Entrance to building is not flat, it has a huge divot in front of the door, this means you can't roll a cart into the building but rather have to carry your stuff to the entrance way and then load the cart. The owner clearly needs to do some maintenance to the property read more

Sub par with so many to to choose from. Snow not cleared from lot or ramp leading into yard..... Elevator not working when storage is on second floor. Push carts that are complimentary are rarely working or available.... Not good enough. read more

The facility is in good shape and Andy was extremely helpful. Great location and the $1 for the first month is a nice bonus. Insurance was mentioned multiple times, but most homeowners or renters insurance covers this type of situation, but check with your agent on this. The storage facility is clean and conveniently located. They also appear to be appropriately priced versus the competition. The local management team is fairly shady and need to be questioned and watched so they're not over billing. They asked me to come in two weeks before my reserve date to fill out paperwork. They then attempted to start my billing that day. They give you a lock to use and then add it to your bill as opposed to letting you know they can use your own lock. Don't go to public storage. I have never seen that bad customer service. I wouldnt like public storage take advantage for customers. Their policy is so suck. First When you get the storage, you may need to know the cost will be raised randomly after 6 months. my storage cost is $ 58 and it raised to $111 after 6 months. Second, There is no prorated and you need to pay full month if you want terminate the lease. frankly, I didn't appreciate for this policy. Sounds Like they tried to get money from the first customer when they move out with full monthly payment and public storage can rent it out to the second customer and the second customer needs to pay the partial payment. For example, you terminate the lease on 5th and you need to pay the full month payment. Public storage doesn't refund back to you from 6th -30th after you moving out on 5th. It is completely eat customer's money. Is it so ridiculous that every customer need to move out on 30th of the end of month? It is pretty ridiculous policy public storage. I know why no one would like to rent. Don't go even they set up so cheap to attract you to rent. I remembered they never call me back when i call them. Super bad service!! In Evanston, the officer Jamel is super bad service. I said I am going to complain about your service. He said that go ahead it is not my company( give me a shit face) . I rented a unit at the facility. After the first week someone damaged the corner of the unit and the door would not stay on track. It was easy to crawl in the unit between the door and the track. Obviously a lock was of no use. I complained to the office personnel (Derrick) and he said he would submit a work order to repair it. 2 times a month I came to the unit and it had not been repaired. Derrick said he filed a work order (each time). After 6 months of requesting that the storage locker door be repaired and no results, I called the district manager Phil Cacciatore, and he said no work orders were ever submitted. He has not returned my call since. I moved to CubeSmart in a much more secure, nicer environment. Be forewarned. ZERO STARS!! read more

I have used this facility for nearly one year, and downsized from one space to another several months ago. Staff have always been very helpful, especially Hana. Negotiating a new storage space was easy. There was a billing mixup recently, and Hana straightened it out quickly. Storage spaces are spacious and clean, although unheated. Good location near downtown Evanston. I would appreciate a few more carts and an elevator that was more reliable, however. read more

I just stopped at this location to make a payment at 2:30pm. Unfortunately, there isn't anyone here. There is a sign in the door stating that someone will be back at 2:55pm. I'm guessing the employee is on lunch and doesn't have adequate coverage. Now I have to wait 25 minutes for this person. It makes no sense for me to leave and return. Service and storage was fine. When they told me about the $1 per first month deal, I wondered how many fees they were going to add. They told me I had to buy a disc lock from them ($20), that their insurance was mandatory, and there was an administrative fee. All in all, it was about $50 for the first month. I'm so disappointed with this location. I reserved this spot and was told that I needed to call and be in contact with this location within 7 days so that my reservation will stay in tact which I did but they still canceled my reservations. now need to rebook with a higher price. They spoke to me twice and i called within 7 days of my reservation date but didn't matter and in their notes their was no contact with me. this location needs to get their procedures and notes on the same page to function better. read more

i have been using this facility for about 5 years. yesterday i went to the back of my locker while rearranging some items and discovered that there was some major dirt/dust on the items in the back. when i complained to the office, they took a look and said "well, things get dusty over time, there's nothing we can do about it". I asked to be moved to a locker where my belongings would stay clean and they said "we're full up, there are no 5x7s available". Not very satisfactory. I'm going to move to another facility as soon as i can. read more
