Three months in (mind-you, I haven't even finished moving all the stuff in as I type), they raised rent to $317 (24% increase). Market average for this type of unit is $130-$175 in Greenwood Village. $165 to $180 if on ground floor (which my unit was). Public Storage's "location manager" are a group of off-site, remote workers who have ZERO authority to negotiate rent. Spoke with five different "location managers", none of whom could do anything about the rent. Finally one gave me the customer service number (which is nearly impossible to find on their website) so that I could negotiate with a higher up manager. I called, got a polite, but totally incompetent call-center rep (doubtful this was a manager of any type) who refused to lower the rent, told me that I should be happy with my rent, because it is completely within market rates (even though this location advertises on their website this exact unit for much less). The call center rep suggested I move my things to a smaller unit at the same location if price is too much. Also "offered" to remove my 24/7 access (which I was never told was optional) for $50 off per month. So after five calls with five local managers and one call with a "higher up manager" who was really a call center rep reading scripted responses from his computer, my choices were: 1) pay $317/mo. (24% over current rent and $152 above current market averages), 2) move to a smaller unit on a different floor at same location for an undetermined "lower rent", 3) Terminate Lease and move out to another company. I didn't want to choose option three, but I did just now. Terminated lease online and now have to move by EOM. What a waste of time, money, effort. I wouldn't recommend doing business with Public Storage to my worst enemy (well, maybe my worst enemy, but NOBODY else)! You aren't doing business with a real company; they are a REIT that is algorithm driven. Even if the employees were to have common sense, the REIT algorithm won't allow them to use it. P.S. I'm moving literally across the street to StorQuest with the same exact size, floor, everything for $129/mo (promotional rate) and after four months will jump to $185 (but at least I know this up-front and it's still $132 less per month than Public Storage was going to charge me!).

Unfortunately, she had to take family leave and while she was gone, my storage unit was broken into. Yes, they took a lot of my valuables that were family heirlooms and it's been heartbreaking. The reason I am complaining is not just because I was broken into but because it might've been an inside job. Whenever you go into the Public Storage, you always get an email and they ask you how was your visit? So whoever broke into my unit had access to the property. Further, the door going into where we had several 10 x 10 units has a camera facing the door so you can definitely look at footage and see who is putting stuff into their cars. Anyway, they had a couple of different people covering more than one property while Rochelle has been gone. He said he reviewed the footage and there was nothing. I filed a police report and I gave so much detail about everything. Anyway, also if you ask about what they cover if you buy their insurance, which is like an extra $20 a month depending on the storage unit size that you have. So ultimately I think for my size they would cover up to $2500. Which I had over $30,000 worth of stuff stolen. Anyway, they gave me back the rent I was paying for that month which was like $138. I moved out within two days. Gretchen the district manager was kind of in and out on the whole deal but honestly, they just really didn't care. And so I am giving an extremely negative review because the insurance if you were to buy it is bogus. And I just think that you need to ask all the questions and not be naïve thinking your storage unit won't get broken into. The people that broke into it just cut the lock and it seems like they had time to just go back to my storage unit and cherry pick what they wanted from my unit. Sometimes people read reviews and sometimes they don't, but I would just tell you that if you really value some of your stuff, don't put it in storage. Keep it on your person at all times. Unless you have a Fort Knox sort of Storage then go with that. Hopefully this is helpful.

After more than 40 years, their service remains exceptional. My first move with Johnson was a complex over‑the‑ocean relocation, and not a single item arrived broken or damaged. The care and professionalism were unforgettable. My most recent move was equally outstanding. Ethan Miksche, Director of Relocation of the Centennial, Colorado office, provided excellent communication and support throughout the process. The crews who loaded and unloaded my belongings handled everything with respect and genuine care. I highly recommend Johnson Storage & Moving for any relocation -- whether you're moving across the ocean or just across town. Their consistency, reliability, and white‑glove service have earned my trust for life. --- Very Satisfied Customer--Since 1981
