Beware!! I moved my stuff in 6 months ago and they have more than doubled (112% increase) the rent. When I reached out to their customer service they said they are allowed to increase rent and that there is nothing I can do about it. Rented a unit that after I paid for it was told it wasn't usable, they were going to fix it and let me know. They never contacted me again! I went back the NEXT day to cancel the unit and get my money back. The regional manager Angela refused to give me back my $457 and said I technically had the unit 2 days (I never had access to the unit because no one could open it). The initial setup was complicated and I didnt have access to the gate for 3 days, had to go troubleshoot during office hours. By the time I was able to get into the unit my u-haul was overdue. I was given a crappy unit with a hole in the door and the inside falling in. I was pressed for time and had to return my u-haul so did not have time to complain. I stayed for approx 2 months and moved out on 9/3. I followed up to pay my remaining balance and they inform me I owe the full amount because they do not prorate. But they prorated when I moved in. Poor customer service all around-in office, chat, etc. Its not worth the rates being paid. read more

What was really funny about our experience with this particular Public Storage was that we could not pay our bill online for the space we had rented out. When we let the manager know this, she basically gave us the general "not my problem" response that is to be expected of a jaded retail employee. She said that our balance could be paid at any public storage facility, however we had tried paying this balance off multiple times before at other closer facilities, and every time they looked up our account, they said it did not exist. The lock that we had paid $20 for separately to secure our space had also been cut without our knowledge, and we were lucky to have emptied it out long beforehand because we were also never told that any belongings remaining in the rented space would be sold at auction. We were not told about this until the very same day we arrived to pay the final dues and close out our account. We were not notified of this previously. No phone call, no email, no communication of any type, and definitely not a voicemail. What I am implying here is that had we not been on top of our game with emptying our space, the good folks here at Public Storage would have taken our belongings out of there and sold them at auction without us knowing anything about it. I'm sure that's all in the contract we absent-mindedly signed because we were on a time budget and didn't take the time to read it. Every time I have driven into that facility to drop something off or pick something up, I have encountered a problem, from the property manager yelling at me for rolling in there with a Uhaul trailer, to going in after hours and finding people living in the units. Yes, there are people living in the units here. It really adds to the peace of mind you get when you decide to trust this place with the security of your valuables. In my personal experience with this place, it is my belief that the staff here hate their jobs, and take it out on the customer. I made it a point to write this review, specifically because of how difficult the property manager had made the whole experience for us, from the day we first rented a unit there, to the day we closed the account. She did not try to work with us in the slightest. Someone should really look into the five-star reviews going up for this place because it only takes one trip there to realize it is an absolute dump. It's not every day you see an outdoor storage facility littered with empty liquor bottles and growlers. We made the mistake of looking online, making a call, and having someone else open the account for us while we were on the road, hours away from Charlotte. I am glad I experienced all of this when I did, because I now know never to come back here again. If you lead a busy lifestyle, these folks will not work with you. My impression is that they don't care about their jobs or your business. read more

The overall experience was fine however the website failed to inform me that I would basically need to purchase their insurance and buy their lock once I arrived. The facility was very clean and tidy. The office manager seemed a bit uninformed about things and seemed to just be reading what she was told to read. I wanted to know what the insurance covered and she had no idea and only knew that I had to purchase it in order to rent the unit. It was also not communicated to me that I would need to make an appointment to obtain my unit due to Covid-19. That would have been helpful information to know as I was on a tight time schedule. All of this information would have been helpful PRIOR to my arrival. There was also no hand sanitizer available to use after touching the touch screen. read more

My unit was broken into since I've been there maybe two years they have increased the rent 4 times now I'm paying over two hundred dollars if I'm late I get told my stuff will be sold before I'm even a month late. Worse scamming storage facility in all of the US. DO NOT rent in these storage units they literally train their employees to lie about rates. When renting long term and you specifically ask the question if your rent will increase they assure you it won't buy guess what if your there longer then 6 months your rent is going up by 50.00 a month. Dirty facility not worth a dime and the AC is always off in the units so mold and mildew is the only thing coming out of the storage units!!! Stay away from these storage units!!! Monica was the face of this particular location and she totally rocks! Here's why: (1) She knows her stuff. She knows the concerns that a potential tenant would have and addresses those issues, clearly and succinctly without marketing "hype" or lingo. (2) She is super personable and helpful as are the rest of the staff. Cheerfulness begets cheerfulness. (3) She is straightforward and to the point. We paid over $1000 to move our furniture into one of their temperature controlled units only to get a letter four months later stating the units were no longer temperature controlled and we had a month to move our items. I had a great experience even though it was very short term. I stored my stuff in a unit for one month. The staff was super helpful in making sure I was selecting the proper unit and that I had everything I needed. The locks you CN purchase from them are expensive but very sturdy. Moving your personal things from your home to a storage is never easy, I was stressed to the max but the lady in the office made me smile each time I was thrown in a situation that really made me on edge. Pretty sure I was robbed here. Had ONE box that happened to contain valuables inside taken, along with a very large painting and a long decorative pillow. Hard to miss those things but I did until I got home after a stressful and long day of moving everything out of the unit. Company would not accept my claim due to non visible signs of forced entry. There are some shady people working there. I was told when I rented a unit that I was required to purchase their insurance (even though I already have insurance on my belongings). I found out later it is not mandatory. Not cool to lie to people and cost them extra money. Also they increase the price after 6 months, so beware of that. I won't be going back. read more

I do not recommend this facility. Don't be fooled by the price, pay the additional money and use one of the 3 or 4 nicer facilities in this area. 5 months ago when I moved in I requested a climate controlled unit but when I arrived for move in they couldn't get the lock off the door. They said I had to take a regular unit which weirdly was $5 more per month than climate controlled. When I asked why, I was given a sizable dose of attitude and the generic blame it on the computer response. Within my unit the drywall was falling off the ceiling and their were stains and trash on the floor. The property was loaded with trash but that has since been cleaned up somewhat. A few weeks ago I had to make a few trips in and out to get some things and noticed that every time I arrived the gate was up. I stopped in the office and was told that the gate was broken and wouldn't be fixed for at least 8 weeks. I realize their name is Public Storage but I didn't know it was literal. Two weeks after finding this out I received an $8 increase in my bill. I decided it was time to go. I moved out and into a nicer place down the street. read more

This storage facility is in terrible condition. There is literally trash overflowing from the garbage dumpsters and trash piled outside of units that have been abandoned. There is still broken glass along the ground outside several units in our row due to someone smashing into a fire extinguisher box that was mounted to the wall. We have also had to call the police when there was a man strung out on drugs living in one of the units near ours. He was acting in a very threatening manner. My husband and I have on several occasions gone in to the office to ask why the facility is not maintained as our rent continues to go up. The staff says that they don't have the resources to clean up the property. The golf cart has been out of working condition for a couple of months and they have no resources to help them. My husband and I have both reached out to the District Manager and Regional Vice President and have gotten no response. read more
