Extremely deceptive. I needed a space starting in mid February and made that very clear to the employee I spoke with initially. I also asked if I could cancel prior to my need date if my plans changed. They put through the charge on the day we spoke (Jan 21). I do not need the unit and now I cannot get in touch with anyone, just VM, no live person. Be careful when booking for the future, you will be charged on. I do understand that they need to lock a booking up, but there should be a way for cancelling and receiving money back if you never set foot into the storage unit. read more

Worst place to rent storage..I rented here for 2 1/2 years. I followed every rule did everything right. I moved out two days before my required date and I did exactly what the person at Crump Road. Charlotte told me to do. I left my unit open as instructed. I proceeded to get a bill for another months rent, which I did not owe, I was then turned over to collection agency which damaged my credit. I got credit people and Public Storage on the phone together and they were useless in solving my problem. This is the worst place on earth to rent a storage unit. read more

Unfortunately, I have been forced to store furniture belonging to family in this facility for quite some time. Initially, there was actually a person onsite, but I have not been able to find anyone in the office in several years. No one answers the phone and no one returns phone messages. I received a call last week telling me that I had missed my payment. I thought it was a courtesy call to help me avoid a late fee, but when I went online to pay it, a fee of $70 had already been added. My banking account information was stolen and I had to change all of my Autopay information for my bills last month. I paid the December bill online and was sure that I had reactivated the Autopay, so I was surprised when I was told that my January payment had not been received. I went to my account and made sure that Autopay was turned on, received an email acknowledging that I was enrolled, then I went to pay my account (grudgingly because of the extra $70!) and it turned off the Autopay when I made the payment for the month. I have left a couple of messages to explain the situation and even tried going through their chatbot, but all I have gotten is crickets. read more

Rented a unit on Harrisburg Rd for almost 10 yrs storing my deceased mothers items. Unit was finally vacated in February. Like many other csrs, rents were being jacked up continually. I emptied the unit at the end of the month. "Stupid me", I forgot to take pictures and went back the next day. I was there for maybe five minutes and went into the office to advise that I had vacated the unit and wanted to turn in the lock. Of course, because my signing in to get to the unit triggered entry and I ended up receiving a bill for the month. I spoke to the site manager, who sent a message to her regional. She was supposed to get back to me and I am still waiting. The invoice was sent to collections by the next month. You would think that being a customer for such a period of time, consideration would have been rendered. One day - full month's charge!!! Never again!! read more

Within 3 months they increased my rate to $127, and two months after that they went up to $134... I called for weeks without an answer, so I finally went to the office and spoke with someone. She said my rate was $127, they advertised it was $99 so they tricked people into moving in for a few months then jacked up the price without notification. I then got ahold of corporate and they were unwilling to work with me on the rapid price increase. I just received a notification that they're going up to $134 next month. I haven't even had this unit a year and they've gone up on me 3 times. Don't bother calling to question this, because no one will answer or call you back. On move out they want a full month even if you are only there one hour of one day. You see with Public Storage it's a different experience once you become a customer. Scam alert! Got a unit that was $122 and they went up to almost $300 within 6 months of having the unit! Then got a second unit that was advertised as "second month free," but they increased the price for the second month, making it not free. Sent an invoice for $90 for the second month and also randomly charged my card for $8 after I paid for the first month. No one is ever in the office and they never answer calls. I've also seen two homeless people in the loading dock area, one of which is living in the storage unit and another that used the bathroom out in the open! There is something terribly wrong at this location, don't rent here. We rented a unit, had an appointment to get our lock. No one showed up that day at the designated time or for six days thereafter even though we visited and called each day during office hours. Several weeks later -- still no one has called. In NC when you take someone's money and then don't deliver what was paid for, it's called unfair and deceptive business practices. Save yourself some frustration, rent somewhere else. read more

This company is a sham. They raise their rates every 6 months with no justification. Their onsite phone number, app and website refer you to an on site mangler with phone number, by their corporate representative admission no such person exists and no one answers the messages placed . You cannot speak to anyone at your facility unless you speak to their corporate contact us via phone or chat, upon which they will make you schedule an appointment at the facility to discuss any issue or concern. I would avoid this company at all costs. They suck you in with an affordable rate and the raise your rate over and over. I rented a small 5x5 just to store a couple things I couldn't fit in my apartment. The rep I talked to said it is $35 per month. Not bad. I guess she forgot to mention that my rent would jump to $115 per month after 1 MONTH. I called to see if there was a mistake and they were very rude and essentially told me I was lying that there is no way audit is only $35 per month.. $115 for a 5x5 is stupid. I also set up automatic payment but since the price changed, they cancelled my automatic payment without telling me - "protocol". So I was hit with a hefty late fee. Now, yes that's my fault for not tracking my spending, but when I set up a auto pay for $35 a month... for a storage unit... I'm not thinking about checking it like I do for apartment rent or credit card. Find a different storage vendor, there are plenty out there. read more

Our code was changed for no reason because somehow they thought we hadn't paid when we definitely did--early. We got a phone call saying we hadn't paid, and we confirmed that, yes, we had. When I went to the building the next day to get something I really needed, I couldn't access the elevator because they had deleted our entry code. No problem with the physical areas or on-site personnel, they seem nice but I am getting nowhere trying to find out why my payment by ACH (bill pay from local credit union) has not been credited to my account. Bank says the payment was made...money out of my account...PS says no payment was made. All customer service phone numbers (corporate) are ALL automated with no option to speak to a person. Emailed district mgr and have not heard a word, no call, no reply. Very bad. By the way, rates go up every year. Very expensive. read more

The Public Storage unit on Park Road has the most AWFUL customer service. Scratch that- I can't even consider their actions as "customer service" because the employees are NEVER available. I used the storage unit for my boss and I would frequently have to take trips to retrieve certain items. This unit is NOT close to my job. So when I would come and need assistance, the office was ALWAYS closed. And these were during their claimed business hours. There were never any employees available to help, answer the phone or answer any questions. I called, knocked multiple times on their window and even let the lady I spoke with know I was coming ahead of time to ensure my situation would be fixed. However, upon arrival what do you know-there is no one available. Corporate was called however, they couldn't provide any assistance. Not that I will need their assistance for personal use, but I definitely do not recommend the storage unit on Park Road. They are unreliable, unprofessional and an all around waste. Overall, great place to store your stuff. It 's clean, well lit, climate controlled, and is in a very convenient location. They give you an access code to go in even during after hours. There's a lot of space for almost any sized moving truck to park and unload, which is a huge plus...no weaving around the building hoping not to knock off a corner or roof. Just pull up, unload, and leave. There are two elevators and we've never had to wait for another "tenant." I am glad to have a safe place to house my things, but I dislike seeing a chunk of change drafting out of my bank each month. Every year they have increased their monthly fee by at least $20. That adds up! Warning, they get you intrigued and hooked with the $1 for the first month. They sell moving and storage items in the front office: boxes, packaging tape, moving popcorn, bubble wrap, and special locks for their units (they are the ones that look like little keyholes). Soon I'll be moving out of Public Storage, but if I ever need to store some stuff again, I will come back to this location. read more

My father emptied this unit, shared that with the staff, asked them if he needed to do anything else and they said no. Now I've been charged another month when I'm not even using the unit and I don't even live in the state and they were no help with removing lock despite them having the key. I spoke with two people who both are trained to refer back to the lease agreement - which I didn't know I needed to read cover to cover when my father and I both inquired about the vacancy process and no one shared this. Clean, priced right and close to our home. 6 months later, with no notice (although they said we got a letter) we were hit with a 25% increase in rent. I fully understand the concept of rental increase....but 25% after 6 months! NOT OK! I spoke with corporate, with no avail. Only my second day in NC and I needed a place to store some clothes and toys till my apartment is ready. For the little space I needed I didn't wanna pay anything over $40, maybe $50 after tax. I called 2 or 3 other places and they were gonna charge $60 and up. Thanks to Public Storage I found the perfect amount of space as well as a moving box for $38. The service was friendly and personable. Michaela was very hospitable and made me feel welcomed. They were also quick, I was in and out in about 30 minutes. Went to UHaul before trying them and the difference was night and day to put it politely. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

The Facility itself is FANTASTIC. Easy to get in, easy to get out, accessible, climate control, garage over hang-so you won't get soaked if you have to move in the rain. Facility is 5-STAR. The New manager ASHLEy is very helpful. Her staff sometime are not at the facility when stated. i.e. They are suppose to be open at 09:30 on Saturday's and it was after 10a when an employee showed up this past weekend. Also, irritating corporate policy that you don't get refunded ANY MONEY if you vacate your unit early. "after the 6th of the month, you get charged the whole month." Leaves too much of a short window to vacate without getting penalized. read more

I recently rented an indoor storage unit at Public Storage's facility located on Park Road at Seneca Place. I am very pleased with the facility. I have an outdoor unit at another location and am anxious to transfer my other belongings to my new indoor unit. It is clean, well lit, secure and easily accessible. At first I resisted renting an indoor unit because of the higher price but after moving in I now wish I had selected this location three years ago before I rented my outdoor unit. read more
