Would have been nice if the girl in the office actually did her job ... paid for a unit we can't use because there's no way to lock it even with the padlock we bought so we can't even store anything Also it is not climate controlled so if u care about ur belongings don't rent a unit from them , when u pull up and doors are open and the floors are soaking wet that's not a good thing . Very positive experience! We needed storage for only a few weeks. Booked the last space they had available at this location sight unseen. It ended up being perfect! We had some trouble with the lock upon arrival (our fault), but when we called for assistance they were able to help right away. The move out process was very simple. read more

Set up and access to public storage is manageable. UNFORTUNATELY, they changed their business model and no longer have staff members on site. NO ONE has returned our calls in 3 MONTHS!!??! The "online assistance" equates to NO ASSISTANCE. You will get "Looped" into their phone service, with no ability to speak to a human. They WILL NOT ALLOW you to cancel your rental unit, it's a TRAP. This is a HORRIBLE BUSINESS and terrible service. I highly recommend you DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. We are reporting this to the Better Business Bureau. read more

These guys are horrible. They don't answer the phone. They don't return calls. If you loose your passcode or key they will make no effort to help you. Horrible contracts and self serving maneuvers. They raise the rent every year but new leases on an exact duplicate of your unit might be half the rate they charge you. When I called about why I was charged $530 when the exact same unit was advertised for $285, the response was "we raise the rent every year". I observed that there was no requirement they raise rent. I was met with the suggestion I rent the new unit and move all my things to the new, identical unit. I did see that the next month my rent has been lowered to $410 (with no notice). So they decided $120 every month was probably something I was willing to spend rather than having to move from one to another. I called them on December 29 and left a voicemail that my unit would be empty after December 31. Today I get an email that wants me to pay $410 for supposedly moving out today, January 2. No, they do not prorate your last month's rent. That has just been unexpectedly straightened out, so I have added a star to my rating. I will say I did not need to start the new year with an episode of through the roof blood pressure. The actual facility was a good one for many years, but the customer service has gone way down hill. read more

Pros 1.Employee was nice 2. They had a 10x20 unit I needed Cons 1. Miscommunication, they said I could move out without prior notice, but failed to tell me they would not refund my money and I prepaid for part of October and all of November. I had the unit for 11 days and they are keeping over $200 and I just found out that they are offering $1 for first months rent but that offer was never mentioned to me. 2. The unit I rented had five rat traps/bait inside when we opened the door. 3. The building smells I recommend Uhaul which is 7 miles away on 15/501. Clean units, no odors and no rat problems/ traps in the unit I rented. read more

I had previously had a good experience at this location, until very recently--now I can't see I would ever use Public Storage again. After no issues for months with my payment going through on auto pay, I received a call from them that I was past due, and they had assessed a 25% late fee on my unit. I called them back, and the woman just kept saying "well the computer says..." Frankly, I don't care what the computer said--they had an issue with my credit card they hadn't had for the previous 3 months, and charged me a 25% fee without ever alerting me there was an issue. This is after they raised my rent from 60.00 a month for a 5x10 to 114.00 a month after only 5 months..long enough to get settled in I guess? Horrible place, horrible company--avoid if at all possible. read more

I have had a great experience so far with Public Storage in Carrboro. The process for a new unit is quick but they still take the time to thoroughly go through the details with you. Allegra has been wonderful to work with every time! The units are perfectly clean and the layout makes it easy to drive right up to your spot for loading and unloading. Most 10x10 units you have to use a certain key for which is kind of a pain, but it only costs $20 to buy it with them. We underestimated how much space we needed, and were quickly given quotes on other available units. I have greatly appreciated the good customer service here. read more

She was friendly and helpful even calling the sister property to see if they had a special that was more price friendly for us. She explained all the fees so they were no surprises when we signed on the dotted line. read more

I am so glad that I chose This Public Storage to store my items. I have an inside and outside unit. Both of them meet my storage needs very well. The rooms are clean, spacious, and affordable. The staff, Tamala and Allegra, are awesome!!! I purchased all of my materials for boxing and protecting my items from this location. The unused materials, I was able to return and receive a full refund. This is the first time in 16 years that I needed to have storage rental. I feel safe on this well lit and gated property. The staff is so knowledgeable, professional, and kind with their customer service. I feel blessed that I am working with Public Storage at this location and I am enjoying the savings from such a great find with these storage units when I signed up for the reservation online. read more

Morningstar was great. Good facilities, conscientious and friendly employees. They have just been bought out by Public Storage. Public Storage cleared out all of the folks from Morningstar and replaced them with staff who have all the charm of meter maids whose entire wage is a percentage of penalty fees and proceeds from auctions. They are brusque and unpleasant. Worse, they seem disinterested in helping you resolve problems that originate with their business practices. Immediately upon purchasing Morningstar, they began rejecting monthly payment checks from lease holders that were made out to Morningstar. They called all of us and left threatening messages informing us that we were in violation of our leases and would be assessed penalties if we didn't have new checks in their hands by the end of the week. Those who had third parties covering their leases would mostly just have to pay the penalties. This kind of crap seems to be part of the Public Storage business model. Just two days ago--a full two months after Public Storage took over Morningstar--leaseholders got written notice of the buyout and a copy of their new lease. I will be looking to get my stuff out of there ASAP. read more

I stopped in here to get a few moving boxes recently and Christina was really helpful. They have a good deal (buy 35 get 15 free) on moving boxes and they accept flat unused boxes back if need be. I'd rather get boxes locally from a place like this than drive all the way to one of the big box stores. Plus, the PS boxes are thicker/better than Lowes or Home Depot ones. read more

A terrible experience. I rented a unit for about two months, and upon retrieving my belongings found that the unit leaked and half my stuff was wet. When I brought this to the attention of management they were totally unconcerned. The local employee said they would inform the manager, who would get in touch with me. That was over two weeks ago and not a peep. Their motto is "we treat your stuff like it's our stuff". If that's true, their stuff must be crap. I hope they are sleeping on a wet mattress too. I worked with CeeCee at this location. She was a huge help. Great friendly personality and she really knows her job well. She showed me the storage unit, detailed all the information about storage rental, and just made really great conversation. It's clear that she knows what she's doing and she definitely put customer service first. It's one thing to go into a place looking to use the service they provide, but it makes a world of difference when you go through the process with someone who clearly loves their job. read more

DO NOT PUT YOUR STUFF HERE! We've been customers at this location for about a year now. Since around April the door to the climate control building has been broken, so they turn off the HVAC and just leave it open. Now my stuff has mold all over it and there are now birds and snakes living in the unit. I saw a copperhead slithering across the floor about a month ago. I've complained to the front desk no less than dozen times and I get the same response" we can only take a picture of it and send it to the main office. We aren't allowed to do anything else" All this with posters everywhere saying 100% Customer Satisfaction...They are quick to give out the Area Director's name Kristi McDougal and a telephone number but nobody ever answers that, it just goes to voice mail. We pay on time every month and only want what we pay for and are not getting that. If we weren't too busy with our home remodel we would move it all out and into another storage facility with another company. read more
