Even a one-star rating gives too much credit to this business. Picture this: you're moving to a town that is more than two hours away from your current location. You call upon a local U-Haul dealer (in this case, Ruffin Self Storage) to rent their largest truck. After everything is loaded onto the aforementioned truck, you climb in and pull away. You notice that the vehicle produces an incredibly-apparent, unusual vibration akin to a Conestoga wagon being pulled over gravel. Suddenly, before you've made it more than two miles from where you began, the driveshaft (a metal tube that transmits the rotational force of the transmission to the rear wheels of an automobile) falls out of the vehicle. Yes, you read that correctly... the driveshaft COMPLETELY ABANDONED THE REST OF THE TRUCK and hurtled into oncoming traffic. Adding insult to injury (metaphorically... luckily, no one was injured), when you call Ruffin Self Storage's manager, instead of being at all apologetic, he proceeds to tell you that it is "not his responsibility", and that it "must have been your fault" because the vehicle "drove fine" when he last used it. Even though the customer service department at U-Haul completely reimbursed us for our move, I must say that Ruffin Self Storage seems to be on a mission to tarnish the company's reputation. I would rather, in all seriousness, move all of my belongings cross-country, one box at a time, in a Mazda Miata than use this dealer ever again. Unless you're a glutton for punishment, call someone else for your moving needs. There are plenty of other more-reputable dealers around. read more
