Have had this storage unit for a few months now and I love it! I switched over from a previous Public Storage to this one since Bensenville is closer to my house. The signing up online and moving in process was super simple (they have a lot of sales/deals online I saw). What I like about this particular Public Storage that my old one didn't have is the option of opening the gate from the Public Storage app on your phone! Now I don't have to get out of my car and type in my code every time I have to enter and leave my storage unit (comes in handy when it's raining or there's bad weather out). These storage units are all outside, which is super convenient. I can just pull up with my car right in front of my storage unit, so carrying heavy boxes and walking up the stairs or a long distance is never an issue. This made unloading for me super bearable. I had a problem with my lock being hard to open in the winter time (now it's smooth in the summer), and the front office manager was super helpful and fast in fixing it when I called her. This location is also located right off a busy-ish street, so it's easy to pull in and hard to miss. I don't plan on leaving this storage unit for a long time! read more

Terrible experience -- and this is just my first month. I signed up and paid for a unit thinking I'd have reasonable access, but they completely gloss over the fact that the hours are limited. It's not clearly communicated upfront, and by the time you find out, you're already locked into the contract. Customer service isn't exactly rude, but they're absolutely useless. No solutions, no flexibility, just blank stares and "there's nothing we can do." Feels like a bait-and-switch. Save yourself the frustration and go with a place that's actually transparent and functional. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. This place is filthy and their $1 first month's rent is a lie. They charged me more than $200 for my first month, even though it was a partial month (8 days). Then I paid another almost $200 on the first of the following month. I was stupid enough to assume that my $1 month would be credited to me, but instead, a manager named Maria (she refused to give me a last name) was incredibly rude and ended up hanging up on me. Denise was friendly, fast and efficient with the move in process BUT, like much of corporate America, Public Storage has shady business practices. I reserved and moved into what's advertised as a 10' x 20' unit. But upon measuring the unit it's more like 9 ft 7in x 18ft. This would be fine if I reserved a 10' x 17.5' unit. But I paid more to reserve a 10' x 20' unit which would better accommodate my storage needs. Upon expressing my concerns to Denise that the unit is 2 feet (24 inches) shorter than what's advertised, and then management, I was given the corporate spill that the unit sizes are approximations. Even though my unit is closer in size to a 10' x 17.5' unit they wouldn't allow me to pay the monthly rental for a 10 x 17.5' unit because the unit I moved in is ADVERTISED as a 10' x 20'. Advertising a unit as 2 feet longer than it's actual dimension is not an approximation. +\- 6 inches would be an approximation. 2 feet (24 inches) is more like a gross exaggeration and false advertising. But it typifies the "short the customer" mentality embellished by many companies. read more

After having some online troubles, she helped us at the office. She was kind, assuring, and helpful. Gave us her best tips and tricks and helped us find the best fit for us. *PLEASE DO NOT GET STORAGE HERE! SPIDER INFESTATION MOUSES AND LIARS THAT WORK THERE* First day I came lady with glasses was very kind until I moved in! I brought a car to store in my storage unit and Accidentlay closed more door and out of nowhere she banged all over scaring me. (Keep in mind i had electricity in my storage to see at night if I go) she yelled at me and next thing I know is my electricity was out ? Hmmmm I pay for that? "no no the whole side of your building went out " is what she told me after 8 months with this storage on York rd N 556 and never was fixed? she ignored me for months after I asked her so many questions about why it has a infestation of spiders and never wanted to turn my lights back on? VERY RUDE "what could I do what that?" So I highly recommend to everyone and please be aware of this disgusting place. I'm truly honest I do not recommend. read more

From the onset of contacting this storage facility online, they were very courteous and explained everything in a manner that you can understand things. They schedule your first visit to be with the property manager who is a very helpful person in all respect of the job they're suppose to do. I found the facility to be very clean and from my perspective a safe place where you can leave your personal belongings. read more

My brother filled out an online application for me to check out a storage space and made a typo in my phone number. Denise reached out and was able to get a hold of me anyway to help me get the best deal on the space. When I first spoke to her on the phone she was incredibly helpful by letting me know about possible changes in availability as well as price. She was very flexible with when I came in to view the space and when I came in she was just as kind and helpful as she was over the phone. Denise is amazing, over at the Public Storage facility on York Rd. in Bensenville, Illinois. Moving isn't always a pleasant experience, but she made everything smooth by explaining everything in great detail, which really is important when you have a lot of things going on and may not always take every factor into consideration. She went through every detail to make sure that I had every base covered and has a vast knowledge of the company, its policies, and what I call "the fine print" and this woman made sure that every question was answered and that I had no concerns left, nor any trepidation. My mom is down sizing. She needed a storage room to store her belongings since she closes on her house this week and will only close on her new condo till mid next month. We visited Public Storage and Todd B showed us around. He was able to show us our different options and answered all our questions. While we were signing the lease, the power went out for a short time and had to jump around from us and other customers coming in due to the power outage. He was able to stay claim and handle everything in a friendly and professional manner. I highly recommend Public Storage here in Bensenville. read more

SCAM ARTISTS! FRAUD! DO NOT USE! Do not use this site. I had been a loyal customer of theirs and when I attempted to cancel my account after adhering to their check out policy (schedule a check out time). Upon entering the site to move-out my belongings, the entrance gate was wide open (procedure is to enter account specific code) so security is a bit lax and if you value your belongings, I certainly would hesitate selecting this site. After moving out my belongings, I attempted to check-in at the front desk during the listed hours of operation yet no attendant was at the office and the office door was locked. I was now unable to inquire as to the next step as the attendant was not there at the schedule time. I received an invoice charging me for the subsequent month though I had already canceled the service and moved my belongings out of their storage unit. When I spoke with the manager, I was informed that they were not culpable the an agent was not available at the listed time and that I was now financially responsible though I was not provided guidance whatsoever in the next step of the check-out process. Do yourself a favor and use a firm whose values and ethics are upstanding. read more
