Basque cheesecake

I had dinner with my husband at Public in October 2024 and we had the best time! The vibe is very cozy but sophisticated. We love the small/shared plate style of dining, and this menu had a great variety of dishes to try. Our waiter was very helpful in recommending a red wine and his favourite plates, including the mushroom toast which was absolutely to die for. The unique presentation of the beef tartare was also one of our favourites. We finished off with an incredible basque cheesecake. We will definitely be back!

We enjoyed an amazing evening at Public with 2 other couples. The food and service was top notch. With good guidance from the helpful staff, we worked through an array of dishes to share with each seeming to be even better than the last. A beautiful restaurant with a great relaxing vib for an evening with friends!

I really loved the tapa style, perfect for sharing between me and my husband. A lot of different varieties of dishes on the menu. My favourite was definitely the scallop dish (sauce was super creamy and delicious) and beef carpaccio(well seasoned, the fried potatoes gives it a really nice crunch) I would've given 5 stars if not for the lamb. It was dry and over cooked, pesto had a strange dirt taste to it.. not my favourite, although the waitress did say it was made from carrot stems(?). Overall I would definitely come back to give some of the other dishes a try!

Maybe it was due to the super high expectations I had before coming, but I was not overly impressed with Public's food. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, but for the price of the tapas, I was expecting more. The restaurant itself is a small and unassuming from the outside. The inside is a bit tight, but it was cute and I felt quite cozy. The only stand-out dish that we had of our four tapas was the PEI mussels in ciopino broth with serrano ham. The meal was good, but I probably wouldn't return. It wasn't anything special.

Apple sliders with shaved cheese and whipped cream. Normally comes with two.

Ate here last night. Food was excellent, service was great and it was reasonably priced for how much we got. Highly recommend.

Fantastic food. Great small portions that allow trying of large portions of the menu! The foie gras and scallops were particularly good!

Since I had never been before I wanted to get the combination plate. I opted for a pupusa, 2 tacos, and an enchilada. For each, I just asked for whichever filling/meat was most popular and what the restaurant would recommend which was the pork. The tacos have two options for topping and I went for #1 which was lettuce, pico de gallo, cilantro, sour cream, and avocado (a thin guacamole rather than pieces). The tacos were good. They looked even better. They came with 2 tortillas each so it was sturdy enough to hold the fillings. The pupusa was nice but not my favourite. I ended up dipping it in the hot salsa and it was nicer. My absolute favourite was the enchilada. It was not what you would expect of a Mexican enchilada, but is instead a Salvadoran enchilada which is very similar to a tostada. That was great! Overall, the food was good. I'd love to return to dine in person because I think it would be amazing in person. Usually takeout is never the same. Hopefully once the lockdown ends I can return and have an even better experience!

There's no comprehensive menu posted; I recommend you check out the online menu before you go (http://www.latinomarketlondon.com/menu.html). When I asked if they had a menu, they asked me what sort of food I wanted (I knew what to order, cause I'd scoped it out ahead of time.) People who came in after (and didn't know what they wanted) were given a printed menu, though, so you should be able to ask for one. You can get 3 tacos for $5, or a burrito for $6. You can also find an array of Columbian specialties. I tried the bandeja paisa ($12), which is a traditional platter including rice and beans, a sausage, fried pork belly, some shredded beef, a slice of avocado, a fried egg, a cooked plantain, and a small arepa (which is like a thick corn tortilla). All of the food was fantastic, and the portion was massive. The sausage in particular was delicious, and the beans were nicely seasoned. I also ordered a couple of empanadas and carimañolas (I was splitting all of this food with someone, I swear!) The empanadas (fried turnovers filled with seasoned beef) were out of this world -- although they were VERY salty (I was guzzling water for the rest of the day.) The carimañolas were yucca/cassava dumplings filled with cheese, and they were absolutely scrumptious; I could eat those things all day. I recommend microwaving them for a few seconds to get the cheese melty. They also serve other Columbian specialties, like arepas stuffed with all sorts of delicious things. I'll be back to try them, for sure! There are a few tables for dining in, but most people seem to get their food to go. I speak enough Spanish to order food, but you shouldn't have a problem ordering if you don't speak any Spanish. For just the food counter, I'd give a solid 5 stars. Latino Market also sells specialty groceries for a variety of Latin American cuisines. There's no fresh produce, but you can find cheeses, lots of canned and jarred stuff, dried chilis, masa, lots of packaged cookies and other sweets, and more. You can also get a big pack of corn tortillas for $2.10! (The tortillas are in a side fridge and the price isn't marked.) Unfortunately, the prices on most of the other groceries are higher than what you'd pay in a bigger grocery store (although I might be spoiled, having moved from L.A. where it's easy to find these sorts of groceries for cheap.) Due to the prices, I'd only come here for groceries if you were searching for an ingredient you couldn't easily get elsewhere. But I'll definitely recommend Latino Market for the amazing Columbian food!

Amazing Colombian food in big portions, quick and friendly service, and nice casual atmosphere…read more Although technically an appetizer, the Patacon Relleno Vegetariano (stuffed green plantain with black beans, salad, avocado slices) could stand as a meal on its own - very hearty and filling. The texture of the crunchy green plantain slices went really well with the soft avocado, salad, and beans mixture inside, with a delicious sauce. The Ensalada (salad) came in a very large portion and consisted of lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, red onion, bell pepper, and avocado. Sancocho de Pescado (traditional & hearty Colombian soup made of fish, root vegetables, and tubers - including cassava / yuca, potatoes, plantains, corn on the cob; seasoned with cumin and cilantro) had a very flavourful soup broth that tasted like comfort food. It was served with rice, toasted arepa, and avocado. It had a good amount of meaty fish and various types of root vegetables that had been cooked really well (so they were all soft) and absorbed the rich flavour from the soup broth. Arroz con Camarones (seasoned rice with shrimps, vegetables, salad, green plantains) was my favourite - very flavourful rice with lots of big, tender shrimps.

This is probably one of the worst meals I've had this year…read more First off, my friends had been here the year before and loved it. So I joined them for dinner this year. A few good things - the restaurant is very lovely- large space, beautifully designed, open kitchen to see the cooks, and the staff were lovely! But the food, oh man. First, if you want to order paella, do so right away as they tell you it takes 40minutes. That way once you're done with apps and chatting with your friends, it will be done Ok - food wise, we ordered a bunch of apps and the mushroom paella (there was a vegetarian in the group). - the beet & ricotta app/bread. This was tiny - like half a beet chopped up, with a fig, and a few dollops of ricotta that had limited taste - the salmon tartare (probably the best app) had salmon, a few capers, and razor thin chips - patatas bravas - a potato dish. Meh. At least the potatoes were crispy. - the mushroom paella- no taste lol. I had one scoop and honestly that was enough for me. There was plenty leftover. Even tried adding hot sauce but it couldn't save the dish Save your appetite and money.

The saffron-infused rice soaked up the rich seafood broth perfectly. You can ask the staff to remove the shells if you want to eat more elegantly. The Spanish Octopus was tender and meaty--so fresh, I could have eaten more! I also tried the 36-month aged Joselito Iberico ham. Even though it's not my usual favorite, it was rich, flavorful, and paired nicely with the optional little crisp toasts. The baked white asparagus was a highlight, fresh and flavorful with a touch of minced meat that elevated the dish. The 16oz beef rib steak was cooked well done but still tender and juicy, and the accompanying little peppers added a subtle kick without being overwhelming. The restaurant's atmosphere is dim and cozy, perfect for dates or small gatherings. The staff were enthusiastic, checking in frequently, and even the management stopped by to make sure everything was going smoothly.
