My wife and I went here a couple days ago, and at first we were struck by the emptiness. We were the only ones there for an early supper. Our waiter looked happy to see us at all. We were nervous, but decided to try it out anyways, and I'm glad we did!
We got two appetizers to share, tzatziki and tiropita, and enjoyed both. The tzatziki was flavourful, although if you struggle with lactose watch out because it's very creamy. The tiropita was small and rich, a bit oily but tasty regardless.
We decided on a light supper since we were meeting friends later, she got a greek salad, and I got a chicken ceasar with garlic toast. The greek was a little disappointing, by simply being standard. I did however notice the menu offered something it called a "traditional greek salad" as well, so perhaps they aired on the side of caution with the regular greek.
The chicken ceasar on the other hand was oddly unique. I loved the hint of parsley, and although the chicken was slightly dry, it ended up complimenting the salad well enough. The garlic toast was a mess, toasted on one side only and plain, and I think the dish would have done well without it.
Another thing to note is their milkshakes. Unlike the regular version done with icecream, the one I ordered was hand blended with ice and real cocoa. A delightful chocolatey treat for after a meal.
As to service, the waiter was good at serving, and bad at being an employee. Although he tended to us well and was quite polite, he also watched F1 on a tv fifteen feet away. Unprofessional in the least, even if your restaurant isn't busy, turn off the tv when you get customers.
We will be returning not because My Place is spectacular, but because it's quaint and the quality was good. I prefer it's openness compared to other restaurants in the area and it does Greek food well. read more
