Most of the time it is quite good. Service is hit and miss. A little pricy for pub food.

A little pricey but the food is excellent. My only real beef is it's always packed but that's just a sign that it's a popular destination.

Wonderful atmosphere for a simple casual lunch to a classy dinner date. They have wonderful burgers and their fish taco is my favorite on the lunch menu! I plan on coming back many times again. Also reasonably priced & good portions. read more

They have an excellent tap selection, a few great items on the menu, and a relatively nice patio. The service, however, is absolutely horrible. I want to preface this by saying it was not busy and there was ample staff. We waited 15 minutes to be greeted and at one point had an empty beer for 20 minutes. Pub 500 looks great, but disappoints overall. We visited on Friday night for dinner and enjoyed the patio on an unseasonably warm night as well as happy hour specials on drinks. Sweet potato fries were tasty, although they needed salt. Sandwiches and a salad left much to be desired. The burger was overcooked and bland. A pulled turkey sandwich flavorless. One saving grace was the homemade chips that came with a burger. The place looks the part, but the kitchen needs to use better quality ingredients for salad dressings, meat, and vegetables, especially at these prices. read more

A colleague and I went here for dinner on a Monday. Not busy, but the food was excellent! Had fish and chips. Fish was the crunchiest I have had in memory, with a moist and perfectly cooked fish. Excellent tarter sauce, and great coleslaw with dill on top. Fries were good, but nothing really notable. BBQ sauce on the table was great and peppery to go with. Colleague had the raspberry pulled pork. It was devoured within just a few minutes, so I'm sure it was good. The homemade chips (potato chips) came out hot and fresh, very crunchy, and not greasy. Would absolutely not hesitate to come back here again in a heartbeat. read more

Great atmosphere! Family friendly and fun afternoon watching the Badger game. Bloody Mary's were delicious and fantastic choice of brews. Our server Katie had "top notch" customer service!! She was friendly and kept on our table with anything we needed, checking in and making sure we we had everything we needed. The owner was extremely friendly and very accommodating . I wish Yelp had stars for food and service. Pub 500 has great food and beer. We ate here twice. First time at night, sat at the bar. The bartenders were friendly, and helped with beer selection. We had wings, and stuffed avocados. Both were very good. We came back Sunday for brunch. A very different story. Food was good. Our waitress evidently did NOT want to be here. We had to ask for refills because she didn't ask us if we needed any. She also dropped the f bomb within two seconds before taking our order. Really??? When new patrons walked in, not one person acknowledged their presence, let along ask them if they wanted to sit down. I even saw our waitress turn and walk the other way when new people came in. Pub 500 needs to work on Sunday work staff. I saw one, or two smiling. Others did not want to be here. Bad attitude and service would not keep me from returning because I liked their food. Happened into this place after morning Vikings training camp session for lunch and couldn't have been happier that we did! Enjoy nice atmosphere with lots of TVs and friendly staff. Our server recommended the hickory burger which came with a 1/3 lb black Angus beef patty with three strips bacon and a heaping pile of there 9hr slow roasted pulled pork. First ever trip to Mankato and we picked the Pub 500 at random over several choices in the Civic Center area. While they had outdoor seating and it was a nice day, we chose to sit indoors. It was a kinda slow Saturday afternoon but the place was fuller than others. My wife chose the Salmon BLT sandwich with pub fries and both were excellent. Salmon at this time of year can often be dry, but hers was moist and flavorful. I chose the pulled turkey, bacon, & swiss sandwich with homemade chips. Again, both were excellent. I love roast turkey (not packaged deli meat) and this was great. A bit sloppy to eat, but I expected that with a pulled meat sandwich. My only quibble with the place was the beer menu. They featured a "beer cruise" with dozens of choices, but the menu did not differentiate between bottled and tap beers. I hope Pub 500 improves this in the future. Most beer drinkers like to know that kind of thing before making a choice. read more

Rude waiter!! Went there for lunch with a friend and asked what they had on tap for beers. The waiter rudely stated that they had too many to name and he "wasn't going to name them all and then have me order a Miller Light." Funny, since my friend said she had been there a few weeks back for happy hour and heard the same rant from that same waiter when she had asked the same question. I reassured him I was looking for something beyond Miller Light, Mich Golden Light, etc. But he still refused to name some of the other beers they had. Rude and unprofessional service. Shouldn't be that hard to order a beer! Take the time to learn your beer list, or at least have them listed on a piece of paper if you are unable to memorize them! Food was ok, Not good enough to endure the lousy service and far below the quality of food at other bars nearby. read more

Poor service, no acknowledgement management is poor. Food sucks extremely expensive for what you get.

Our family went to Pub 500 for Easter Brunch and had a wonderful meal. It was our first time visiting this restaurant, and we are planning to come back soon for Sunday breakfast to experience the musical groups that play. The roast beef was a big favorite along with the pulled turkey, scrambled eggs, french toast, spinach/artichoke dip and their fresh baked bread. Wish we could go back for bruch this weekend. Price was right and the owner and our server were wonderful to talk with. You need to give this place a try soon. Love it! read more

I always came into Pub for a decent beer being that this is the only place in town that serves a great variety of them from local breweries as well as international. Prices were always decent and food was good. I'm very disappointed to say that I WILL NOT be going back to this bar after one of the bartenders was EXTREMELY RUDE. Long story short after purchasing a $30 glass of scotch ( I was there to spend money) the bartender refused to open a tab stating that 'It's too busy' despite 5 people on the patio and maybe 10 inside. I'm unsure how a place like this can refuse to open bar tabs at 4 in the afternoon, but on a Friday or Saturday they are able to (I have been here on weekend nights and they allow it). Out of the pure generosity, DESPITE this bartender being a jerk, I still tipped and the jacka** had the nerve to find me at my table 30 minutes later to ask me if that was the amount I meant to tip, in front of my party. This bartender appeared to be wearing different attire than the other waitstaff, which makes me believe he was management of some sort. I hope they don't lead by example there or else there would be HUGE problems with waitstaff. Sad to think that I've had several good experiences there and never minded stopping in, but now I do what I can to avoid it. read more

Good beer selection, HIGH prices and small portions of food service truck food with zero thought put into the menu is what Pub 500 is known for to me. Don't expect consistent service or food from this place. The bartender is more likely to be conversing with waitstaff or management than attending to your needs on most evenings... you can stand at the bar waiting for a drink for over 5 minutes and never even have her look your way. Look, this is a place that caters to an older crowd, a crowd that doesn't mind blowing $50+ on a mediocre at best dinner and a couple of drinks for 2 because it's quiet and has comfortable booths. If you like bland food and "pub fries" that have all of the texture and flavor of the cardboard box they came out of (seriously, they don't even salt them as they come out of the fryer) along side a pre pressed patty tough as shoe leather burger all for for $10.50 along side a $6 beer or mixed drink in a lowball glass (who even makes them like that anymore? Is another 2 cents of mix gonna kill your profit margin to make a drink in a highball?) or an "iced Tea" for $2.50 that is stored at room temperature and served in a glass with like 10 ice cubes resulting in room temperature tea, this is the place for you. I mean, they even offer a hot turkey commercial.... dated menu, over priced, boring and bland is about the best I can say about this place. read more
