We provided a copy of our Renters Insurance the day we picked up the keys to the apartment. They thanked us but apparently still notified a vendor they use to "force place" their own Renter's insurance. We have been fighting to get 1.5 months worth refunded because their vendor says they will only refund since the time WE notified them and uploaded to prove we had our own insurance. It is not a large sum of money (less than $25) but it was their error and PTLA - Westwood apartments is refusing to refund the money. Bureaucratic red tape... maybe even fraud. At this point they have spent more money responding "no" to us than they would have if they simply corrected THEIR mistake. read more

Back before PTLA bought the building the Hutton was a well oiled machine - maintanence was always completed the day after requesting, property management was on top of the rest, and rent was a reasonable price for the area. As these things tend to go, PTLA came in and jacked up the price while making service much worse. My car has been broken into 5 times (even though I leave nothing in it) and my bike was stolen out of a locked bike room, luckily PTLA removed all the cameras so we will never know who did this. It isn't hard to imagine though, a homeless person camped in the basement parking lot for months without them noticing. I woke up yesterday to see a homeless person sleeping on the steps outside the apartment, so not much has changed. For $200 more in rent you can have all these perks plus a fresh coat of pain to the building exterior. They made sure to cover up our windows while doing so, leaving no ventilation and putting us in sweltering heat last summer. The interior of the apartment, meanwhile, has been exactly the same. If PTLA wanted to improve I would recommend doing anything to hire back Traci, as she actually cared about residents and was very thorough in building upkeep. Prospective tenants - while most property management in Eugene is terrible I would still recommend looking elsewhere, PTLA is not worth it. read more

PTLA has made me whole and paid me for the money they took from my checking account 11/25/22 after they took over management (11/4/22). They installed a new refrigerator, and the door opens to the living room and not the kitchen. Which is ridiculous. read more

They made our rent go up 2x in the last month they don't really clean the units that well, there was stains in the carpet and the paint wasn't even there was holes too not covered or at least tried to cover but they they will send out an email saying they'll enter your home very early in the morning! I tried to get in contact of them when our fridge wasn't working (furnished units) and it took them almost a week to find some maintenance person to get to our apartment to fix it. Apartments fine minus most the amenities breaking down at one point or another. What merits the one star review is how they interact with their tenants. Besides one worker with a great attitude, most of if not all the workers i've met from PTLA are snarky and have zero empathy for whatever issue you're having, whether it be about your apartment or lease. To them, tenants seemingly are nothing more than a means to and end. If they have the option between helping you for free or charging you more money, they are taking the latter every single time. Do not expect anything helpful from PTLA housing office, they are just trying to get your money and will do that by any means necessary. read more

Office staff is full of incompetent, lazy, callous "workers" who leave whenever they want and do very little work. PTLA moved a roomate into my unit that began routinely harassing me, physically and verbally, inside and outside of the apartment. After months of contacting them about the harassment (noting multiple times that I felt physically unsafe and threatened), PTLA held a roommate meeting (where they did not even verbally ask my roommate to stop). The roommate immediately continued their harassment. After contacting PTLA again, they had their lawyer send me a notice that if I contacted them again about the matter they would pursue legal action. I was put through absolute hell for months and months and had multiple breakdowns. AVOID this place if you expect the people you pay almost $1000 a month for one room to do their jobs. read more

I had a terrible experience renting from them. The office staff is full of incompetent workers who cannot or will not do their jobs correctly or efficiently. They did not take me serious as a young college student. I joined a lease from girls that already lived there and when I moved in the room was filthy and full of other people's stuff. It had clearly not been cleaned or check for move out since the last person had lived there. I had to scrape zyns from the windowsill and my closet door was already broken. I had to request multiple times for it to be fixed and it was never repaired correctly any of the times. From the beginning of my lease, they have routinely charged incorrectly charged rent by under charging and then adding charges on after the first. They have also overcharged us multiple times and tried to rob my room mates and I by secretly adding on "security charges" that I had to call them out on and then refusing to refund us and ran us a credit instead. In addition, they do not answer their phones, and you have to do into the office to get anything done. So, whoever or whatever is in charge of finances at the office is completely incompetent and has wasted countless hours of energy and forced a lot of stress upon my roommates and I for the last ten months of my life. I work full time to be able to live here and go to school and this company's inability to function correctly has caused me an incredible amount of undue distress. One of the most soul sucking issues that added a great deal of stress onto me as a renter for months was that they put up a fence for added security and I assume that was reflected in the added rental fees, but the fence was completely useless because there was code pads but the doors were constantly getting ripped off and the door for the dumpster was just a liftable latch meaning that anyone could walk in. Houseless people were always around or in the patio area of the condos setting up camp, stealing mail, digging through trash, or shooting up and leaving the needles behind for us. I have a video of a man smoking out of a tin pipe and shooting up in front of my house because the gates are just there for the aesthetic. The lack of security or care for safety continued to be an issue as the year went on because my next-door neighbor whose property is connected to mine and rented by the same company got broken into by a vagrant (he forces his way into the garage). The company did not notify anyone and did not get back to this renter. They instead attached a phone number that linked to an outside contractor to repair the garage. I feel that this behavior is ridiculous, callous, and completely takes advantage of their renters. read more

They have been a very difficult property management to get along with. I am a full-time student with 2 jobs and very little time. There are tons of things wrong with the apartment they did not show until I lived there for a bit, one of them being the oven would only go to 500 degrees even when set to 250 or anything else, this is a major concern, and fire hazard. When I contacted them about it I told them to email me only because I can not take calls during the day due to school and they usually are closed by the time I can. However, they only ever called me, and every time I missed the call, when I was finally able to reach them they were not of much help and we ended the call without making appointment, until a few days later I got a call saying that I no called no showed for an appointment they scheduled without consulting, during a time I was not at home (once again because I AM IN SCHOOL), and they charged me for this without my knowledge as well. I have been getting late fees every day since then without an email warning me. I am so fed up with how much money they want and how incompetent their workers are. The facilities are not kept up to date and for a long time, the shared washer and drier smelled like smoke! read more

Lived here last year and the management did not take us seriously because we are college students. When we moved in the place was dirty. there was a wasp infestation and despite us emailing that one of our friends is allergic they cancelled the exterminator on us because we are young women and they thought we were exaggerating about the 12 wasps that I would have to run around and hide from (there were more than that FR) Did not give full security deposit left for odd cleaning fees. People would hide in our trash and the outside smelled like pee 24/7. Rent was not cheap either read more

We are currently having a problem with a parking space my daughter was assigned to. We talked to the new assistant manager Ms. Traci, This person is very unprofessional, inconsiderate and unwilling to work with the students' needs. My daughter owns a big wide car that does not fit in the small "parking space" assigned, this space is more an easement for the fire department in case of emergencies and a fire hazard to the whole building in case of fire, which to start with should not be blocked. We asked Ms. TracI to please re assign a different space due to the size of my daughter's car but of course mighty TracI said no just because. So. We decided to cancel the rental of her parking space, another thing she refuses to do, according to her we need to be paying for a space that my daughter can not use because her car simply does not fit in. At this point we will need to check with the city and the fire department to find out exactly how legal it is to be renting those spaces that are needed empty at all times due to fire hazards. read more

Our son lived in one of The Hive properties for 2 years. The complex is immaculate. The apartments were amazing, huge bedrooms, great set-up. Also loved that each resident signs their own lease, so the kids are not stuck with the responsibility of finding a new roommate if someone moves out. Unit also had washing machine/dryer. Tracy in the office is awesome, super responsive and helpful, and really seems to like the students. She would occasionally leave them special treats, which they really appreciated. Highly recommend, which we had found it sooner! read more

Last year, I lived at one of The Hive's current properties - MW2. I had initially signed my lease with MW2 under a different company (that ended up getting taken over by The Hive about a month after moving in). In short, I had an absolutely wonderful experience with The Hive! Traci (the manager) is fantastic - anytime I or my roommate had any concerns with our apartment, she immediately answered and assisted us. If for some reason she was not immediately available, she always got back to me via phone or email within the hour. Traci was always quick to deploy The Hive's maintenance man (who is a really kind, hardworking guy!) to fix any issue at no cost. In short, I had a very positive experience with The Hive - and would happily live in any of their properties in the future! read more

Absolutely fantastic rental company! We've been living with The Hive for about 7 months now, and couldn't be happier. I have experience with 4 other rental companies, mostly good, and the Hive absolutely blows them away. I've never experienced such service from a rental company! Traci is a fantastic manager, and Alex is a maintenance magician. Super responsive, friendly, and flexible! They have made every effort to keep us in our apartment and happy. We were unable to view our unit before move-in, and they worked with a friend to view the unit in our stead. On move-in, there were some issues that could not have been seen on a walk-through. All of them, including a rather complicated (and expensive!) problem were resolved promptly, at no cost to us. I recently asked for a minor modification in the kitchen. Alex and Traci made it happen within 2 weeks! We've already signed on for another year and plan to stay through my graduate schooling. read more

I recently just moved out of my apartment after two years as I graduated college. 10/10 would recommend this housing to ANY college student. Very affordable, clean, and really wonderful management. I lived at the Alder Park property in Eugene for two years and I would recommend this housing to anyone! We had the best experience with our landlord and she was so helpful getting us through various things throughout the two years. Our landlord (Traci) was so accommodating, kind, flexible, and willing to help us solve all of our problems and concerns. The apartments themselves are extremely safe, clean, and management always comes through whenever we had a plumbing or electrical problem. We have nothing but good things to say about The Hive Eugene, and especially our landlord and management team!
