I had an extremely concerning experience with this psychiatry practice that felt disorganized, misleading, and financially inappropriate. I have been to many psychiatrists in the past. My care was handled by a physician's assistant, Sanjana ("SJ"), which I was not informed of in advance -- I expected to be seen by an actual psychiatrist. I had three appointments: (1) An initial intake appointment; (2) An in-office computerized "head test" for attention; (3) A virtual appointment to review the test results. Then asked to do another in-office head test as well as a blood test (basically to bill my copay and insurance). I came in with a 15-year documented history of ADHD and brought my prior prescription bottle, which she didn't care to see, as I had recently moved from California and needed continuity of care. Prior to my diagnosis years ago, my ADHD was severe enough that I nearly failed out of school, which is why timely and consistent treatment is critical for me. During this process, I was also told that I needed to complete blood work before medication could be considered. However, despite multiple inquiries, no one ever informed me what blood work was required or how to complete it, adding yet another unexplained delay. During the third appointment, Sanjana told me that the actual psychiatrist would not be available for another week and that her "hands were tied" and she could not prescribe. Afterward, when I contacted the office, staff initially told me that she could prescribe -- and then later told me that she had decided she was "uncomfortable prescribing." This shift was never communicated to me directly and made the entire process confusing and contradictory. I inquired, did not receive a response. Throughout this time, I was very clear about the urgency of my situation and the professional consequences of being off ADHD medication. Instead, I was put through multiple appointments, testing, and vague requirements with no clear treatment plan or transparency around prescribing authority. Notably, after all of this, the practice refunded all of my copays, which strongly suggests they recognized that these visits should not have occurred as they did. Overall, this experience involved unnecessary hurdles, inconsistent explanations, poor communication, and a lack of follow-through. I strongly recommend that patients clarify who they will be seeing, who can prescribe, and what the treatment plan is before committing to care here. And I find Sanjana not empathetic enough to work in psychiatry. read more

I'm grateful to have worked with Dr. Jesse McClelland, who diagnosed me with ADHD at 32. I was worried about getting dismissed due to being high-functioning and getting good grades in school and having an advanced degree. Dr. McClelland's expertise in ADHD is exceptional. He's knowledgeable about symptoms, coping mechanisms, and how various medications work at the neurotransmitter level. He will explain it all to you when he prescribes the meds. He also has an extensive intake process with tons of paperwork. It was quite overwhelming for me to complete and I took like 2 months of procrastination to do it, but I'm glad it exists. It definitely validates I have ADHD and that it's not a fluke. I did a lot of research on the Internet and I had read about others' struggles finding competent ADHD care so I felt lucky to have a doctor who was both thorough and open to prescribing the right medications. I was a tough case (like the 1% according to the literature he had sent me) and Dr. Mcclelland was patient enough to help me titrate over 15 combos of medications to find the best one with the least side effects. I ended up with a more obscure stimulant called Dyanavel. It still doesn't work super well and we would have continued trying more obscure medications. Unfortunately, I had to stop seeing him when I moved to California, where I'm struggling to find an equally knowledgeable and accessible ADHD specialist. Many psychiatrists charge $600 consultation fees and don't accept insurance. My only critique of Dr. McClelland is his office's telemedicine setup. He often runs late, and the website doesn't alert you when he's joined the virtual room. I had to stare at the screen to know when i can even request to join the meeting. As someone with ADHD, this setup is challenging. Once I missed an appointment by tabbing out while waiting. It caused me a lot of stress because I had to wait another 3 weeks to be seen again but thankfully, his office didn't charge me for the missed appointment. From then on, when the doctor was delayed, I would call the front office out of anxiety I would miss another appointment. I found out that they rarely picked up the phone! They mostly communicate through email which is okay but if you have an urgent matter you're out of luck. Overall, I whole heartedly recommend doctor McClelland. Just be aware you will have to deal with his idiosyncrasies and the customer service isn't the best. read more

In the span of two weeks the following happened: -provider did not show up to the appointment. In this situation I called the front desk 3 separate times over 1.5 hours. The receptionist stated the doctor was on another call and I should just wait. Which directly contradicted with what the doctor told me had happened. -due to the provider not showing up, I had to cancel the next scheduled appointment as there wasn't enough time in between appointments. Despite me doing it more than 48 hours prior to the appointment, they still attempted to charge me a late cancelation fee and I had to escalate the issue to have it addressed -The office manager called me, and we discussed the ongoing issues including an issue they had with my card. The manager assured me I was all good to go for my next appointment and wouldn't be charged for cancelling an appointment more than 48 hours prior to the appointment scheduled time. -day of my next appointment they cancel my appointment without calling me because there was an issue with my card. They then charged that card a no-show fee without alerting me of that. I only figured out I was charged after going through my billing details This is supposed to be a clinic that specializes in a disability that makes dealing with situations like this incredibility difficult. Which makes their actions that much more predatory. Dealing with health issues is already hard enough, I would just skip this clinic all together if I were you. read more

Not sure where these positive reviews are coming from. The administration here has produced nothing but the most unethical and unnecessary experience I've had in the healthcare system. Do receptionists really work here? There is a number to call but there is hardly ever someone on the other end. I encourage you to try for yourself and call right now. You will get an irritating answering machine. Again. and again. Being able to call literally 30 times during office hours without someone picking up the phone is a hallmark of this place. This isn't a gas station - we are talking about prescriptions and mental health care. Contacting you in the interest of hounding you for a negligible fee when there has been no prior issue before, otherwise runs quite smoothly. They need to either hire more people or denounce themselves from being even remotely ethical. I additionally had multiple issues with prescription errors obtained from this place, which ultimately falls back on me as the client. I can't be responsible for having to correct this and neither can the pharmacist. And what are you going to do when nobody picks up the phone? Please don't feel like you have to answer that question. You shouldn't. This place sucks. The two professionals I did see quit back to back. It was ultimately in the best interest of my health to move on. I suggest anyone else serious about their ultimate wellbeing do the same. read more

I have been robbed at gunpoint and my experience with Jesse McClelland was far worse. This is because you expect to be harmed by an armed assailant but not a healthcare provider with a medical degree. I have honestly never met such an unprofessional provider in my life as Mr.McClelland. We go to medical providers when we are weak, sick, and looking for help. To end up far worse and suffer unnecessarily in his hands, then abandoned is truly unbelievable. Not just by me, but by the rest of my medical team when they learned of Mr.McClelland's unprofessional conduct and neglect. I got seriously injured during a medical procedure in his 4th floor Seattle clinic in Northgate. That is actually not the worst part. It was at this point that he abandoned me during a medical emergency and did not return 1 single phone call to me. Instead, he had his staff member leave a message informing me that my injury was a "pre-existing condition", even though the injury happened in his clinic during his procedure. From the first appointment, Mr.McClelland demonstrated unprofessional conduct. He was late to my 1st appointment and never even showed up. Instead, he had his staff member use her cell phone's video call in order to conduct a serious medical procedure on my brain in lieu of him even being in the same building. Please do not make the same mistake that we all did. Just look at the other reviews. 2/5 with 17 reviews. Go somewhere else. Anywhere else. I wish I did and now I suffer the consequences to this day while Mr.McClelland moves on to his next patient. read more

I don't often leave reviews - this may be the first I've done in 5 years. Dr. Jesse McClelland has been my psychiatrist for over 2 years now and I never want to see anyone else. He has great empathy, a sense of humor, and an acute understanding and knowledge of ADHD unlike any physician I've worked with. I think I never truly accepted my diagnosis until I saw him, and he made me feel "part of the clan" - that this wasn't a death sentence, and there were a ton of positives to consider. He listens to what I need and is happy to change up treatment (to a patch, which is weirdly the best option I've ever done). This has immensely helped my quality of life and well being. I mean immensely. I've never had better control of my symptoms than I do today, thanks to Dr M. I am so thankful! Also, the staff are absolutely wonderful and super responsive to email. When it comes to getting my desired outcome, treatment for ADHD, Dr. McClelland has been second to none in my experience across many professionals and a childhood diagnosis. Dr. M works closely with you to find the unique combination of medicine to treat your personal needs, providing education and flexibility to hone in on the right approach. He understands and knows there is not one precise approach that fits everyone's needs. I am very happy with the outcome & will continue to be a patient, but it does take some patience and diligence on the patients part which is not what everyone wants understandably. The "trick" so to speak is to certainly book slightly longer appointments than originally recommended (I started requesting 40min instead of 20min) so that there was enough time to really have a dialogue, understand the situation and ask all of my questions. I think Dr. M is a great doctor and a kind person, but he, his practice, and his patients would benefit immensely from hiring more medical staff, perhaps some support on the "office management" for sending out the educational materials, and/or spacing out appointments to give him the opportunity to review patient files and avoid running late. read more

I wish I read the reviews. Absolutely worst experience I've ever had with a therapy/psych office and I've moved 18 times in my life, so I've seen my fair share. My psychiatrist (L. Mills) was late (20mins) every single time with apologies and excuses. Which if I continuously showed up late, I would be terminated as a client. So many red flags. It took MONTHS for someone to call me about TMS. She called in a script I never asked for or that we discussed. It was a benzo and I'm on a pain contract with my pain management-- they could have terminated me because of this. She also stated they could meet my needs with adhd and I don't have adhd. Lol So ummm, go elsewhere. This was unprofessional and honestly dangerous. I've been going here for a few years now and have had a great experience. When I started coming here, I did not have a diagnosis and was really struggling with the shift to online-only university courses. I was able to get an appointment for an evaluation the following week after I reached out, which was much sooner than other clinics I contacted. I was able to start medication the day of my evaluation. I originally saw Domenique Edwards for about a year and a half before she went on sabbatical. She was so kind and affirming that I was really worried about seeing a new provider. I now see Griffith Jones and he's exceeded expectations. I usually just go to my appointments resigned to the status quo but he always asks me additional questions and has suggestions to improve my care. I've never seen any healthcare provider that is so proactive, which is a really nice change of pace when I'm used to having to fight to get providers not to dismiss my concerns. Neither provider has ever been more than 5 minutes late starting an appointment. I haven't had any issues with scheduling or dealing with the front desk. They're always very responsive to my emails, which is so helpful when your clients have ADHD. When I first started going, I had a few times where I was overcharged for appointments but it was always fixed quickly by emailing the front desk. The only other issues I've had have been with dealing with my insurance (prior authorizations) and pharmacy (when they migrated to a new system), both of which took a couple phone calls/emails to multiple sources to resolve but Psychiatry Northwest always handled things very quickly on their end so I never had to go without my medication, which is a huge relief. I also find their self-pay rates extremely reasonable (they don't take my current insurance) to the point that I'm not sure if it'll actually save me any money to have them bill my insurance when I switch insurance providers. Their telehealth option is also very convenient for me since I don't drive and their office is somewhat difficult to bus to. I have seen a LOT of mental health professionals over the years and I've definitely had the best experience at Psychiatry Northwest. Overall, I recommend them highly if you have ADHD and don't plan to switch providers any time soon. read more

The scheduling team is a nightmare. Never answer the phone and are just terrible at reading emails, responding to calls, and scheduling properly. This used to be a wonderful buisness now its just a pain. Was a patient over 3 years. I can speak from a place of genuine experience with this clinic and they are truly awful. I miss Kimi and the scheduling team that used to answer and return calls from long time patients inquiring about scheduling, insurance changes etc. They have lost many good employees and I'm not surprised. The scheduling manager is truly arrogant. They only care about billing patients. Updating insurance, scheduling, and any other call will be fully ignored until they try to charge you before time of service. Then they will call and email like crazy and not acknowledge that they've been ignoring all previous calls and messages. Very sad. Get yourself a doctor that cares about you equally if not more than the money. I will miss the providers. But the admin are just a bunch of money vultures. read more

They didn't have the courtesy of at least continuing a service for me one final time before deciding and delivering a warning they could no longer perform that treatment and it would be the final time. They told me essentially, after performing the service 2 years ago, now I no longer needed it. In effect, I lost my health insurance coverage. I would have appreciated a warning so I could have at least looked for health insurance elsewhere in the meantime and taken advantage of my existing health insurance before it was removed. I came to the office for years, despite the constant barrage of billing problems (like many of the negative Yelp reviews suggest), paying for a QB test and never receiving the results back, being continually pushed to receive treatment from a different team member (one of which who would eventually get fired) in their clinic and eventually having to drive 45 mins to their new office location. I give it one star for the initial meeting. But beyond that, I'm not sure if this place is worth anyone's time or mental well being in the long run. read more

I'm so grateful for Dr. McClelland and his staff. I've struggled for years to find a psychiatrist that could listen, understand, explain, reserve judgement, properly diagnose, and have patience to find the right medications. Dr. McCelland, as well as his two PAs I've seen there have been top notch in all of these areas. Not only do they all do a great job of explaining and educating about symptoms and treatments, they ensure to rigorously followup and ask for input to ensure no changes need to be made. Every time I've left the office, I've felt like they have my well being and best interest in mind, and are there to help. There have been hiccups along the way with scheduling, however he is extremely knowledgeable in his areas of interest, and has an enormous number of patients because of it. In the couple of cases there's been a conflict or delay, his staff has been accommodating and ensured I was seen and listened to. They've also greatly improved their check-in and appointment reminder process since I first started coming here at the beginning of the year. Overall, I'm perfectly fine with a doctor who truly understands and is empathetic to what is happening inside my mind, even if that comes with a few growing pains as their practice expands. read more

I read the previous reviews but hoped for the best and wanted to give this place a chance. The front desk staff were very nice and cordial with me and upfront about the costs which I appreciated. After paying, I was told to sit in the waiting room with the new patient paperwork I was told to fill in prior to arriving. A woman took me to the back to get my vitals then lead me back to the waiting room to wait for the doctor I was seeing, Dr. Kaul. It was 20 min after my scheduled appointment time when I was finally lead to Dr. Kaul's office. I was so surprised - the office was set up like a business office, nothing like my therapist's office nor a typical doctor's room. It felt cold and unwelcoming, especially with the desk separating her from the patient's seat. The environment reflected Dr. Kaul's demeanor as well. She barely looked at the new patient paperwork I filled out for 45 minutes prior and instead started bombarding me with questions. She cut me off and interrupted me many times, put words in my mouth, and showed very little compassion. She asked sensitive questions very bluntly and did not ask them in a way that considered how the patient felt about certain topics. She was constantly squirming around and swinging in her chair, it simply did not look like nor did it feel like she truly cared about me or my health. In the end, she gave me a new prescription and told me to get some blood work done. She handed me back all the paperwork I painstakingly filled out - what was the point of filling it out when she wasn't even going to look at it?? Overall, I had only spent 35 minutes with her. Overall, this was the most unprofessional clinical experience I have ever had. I really hate to say this, but I honestly question how Dr. Kaul got her credentials with such bad bedside manner. Additionally, I don't understand how this office allows tardiness among their providers. This whole ordeal cost me $215. I suggest you look elsewhere for psychiatric treatment. read more

On one hand, I've gotten life-savingly good care here. When I was in crisis Dr. McClelland made time to see me regularly until he could get me in with a therapist- and on that note, Abby McClelland is the best therapist I have ever had. Dr. McClelland spent 6 months helping me find the right balance of meds (I'm extremely med-sensitive and meds rarely go well for me) and being on them has improved my quality of life hugely. This office has gotten me through some personal and professional issues that I don't know that I could have managed otherwise and I'm eternally grateful. That said- this place is chaos. I haven't made a single appointment with Dr. McClelland in over a year that hasn't had to be rescheduled/cancelled at least once, often day-of. When I do get in for an appointment he's usually running extremely late. Not just a little late, my last Teladoc appointment I waited 35 minutes past my appointment time before giving up, and called the office (they didn't reach out to me to notify me that he was running late) a few times to check in. After giving up, I was told that Dr. McClelland would renew my prescriptions so I didn't run out my medications. I take three meds and needed one very soon, and would need the second before the next appointment they could get me. It was confirmed over the phone and via email that Doctor McClelland would call the two I needed in for me. When I went to the pharmacy a few days later, the next doctor I had an appointment with was the actual one to call them in, and he only called in one, so I responded to the email with the office staff asking about the second one because I was scared to run out. Two days after that when I got no response, I followed back up again. Three days after that, still no response, I reached out again. I was completely ignored. So my legally prescribed medication that I need to function was on the line, they had a different doctor refill it and either he did it wrong or they didn't communicate to him what they communicated to me- and when I try to get assistance with my prescription that they literally told me would be called in for me because I waited nearly 40 minutes for an appointment that my doctor just never showed up for- radio silence. I now try to only communicate with the staff in writing because they gave so consistently messed things up. Once my therapist and I switched my scheduled weekly therapy time slot, and the next week I got an email confirming my appointment for my old timeslot. I called in and left a message telling them that I didn't have that time slot anymore and wouldn't be in, didn't confirm the appointment online, and then the next time I was in I was told I owed for a missed appointment. I cleared this up with the person at the desk and was told they would reach out to the billing department to reverse it. A month later I get an email from their billing person for my unpaid fee. I forward her the email stating that the front desk person was going to reach out to have the charge reversed because all of my old timeslot appointments were supposed to be canceled and I called in 24 hours in advance to notify of the error, and she responds that this was never forwarded to her. It's difficult because care-wise this is the only place where I've ever felt like someone 'got' me, and I'm doing a lot better because of it- but trying to do literally anything with this office is an absolute nightmare and is so much work, and as a mentally-ill patient it's extremely stressful and draining and often leaves me in tears and wondering what I'll be charged for and when I'll actually see a doctor. There is absolutely no point in me making appointments in advance because they aren't kept, the front desk staff often messes things up, and most recently they just completely ghosted me when my actual prescribed medication was on the line. At this point their move has made them too far for me to reach in person and I wish I could find anyone else who I trusted to get it, but the actual practitioners here are EXTREMELY good at what they do when you actually get in with them. read more

Dear manager, I very appreciate your response and apologies. However, I can not let other people get confused with that response which is not a reliable one. The doctor arrived very late in the morning holding a coffee. It is impossible to believe that this tardiness was caused by someone's medication issues, given as well that that doctor does not provide direct bed care. And there are many doctors of a waaay higher status than your doctor lol, surgeons, etc., who arrive to appointments in time because they respect the patient. Thank you for forwarding that to your office managers, though, as let's hope at least they will get trained on respect. read more

Current and prospective patients should know that there is no soundproofing at all in the Psychiatry Northwest offices. The people in surrounding offices and those walking in the hallway can hear everything that goes on in the office - this includes each and every word of your therapy sessions. It also includes office staff discussing (often talking sh*t) about patients, giving social security numbers on the phone with insurance providers, etc. This has been brought to the attention of Psychiatry Northwest staff and they did not care at all and have taken no steps to soundproof their office or otherwise ensure patient confidentiality. If you care at all about the confidentiality of your mental health treatment you should avoid this provider. read more

I met with a nurse practitioner at the office, which should have cost me $250 (I was actually billed for $350). She ordered a QB test (a psycho-physical test of attentional function) that normally would cost $150, but she said I would be charged $75 -- nevertheless, I was billed $150. Perhaps worst of all, the quantitative QB test results showed absolutely no evidence of ADHD, but she tried to downplay these results and diagnose me with "mild" ADHD anyway based on a vague, very brief self-report questionnaire. It was as if walking through the door to be tested for ADHD was itself evidence enough that I had ADHD. I was referred to this clinic as one of the best for ADHD testing and treatment, but my experience makes me very much doubt this. read more

The new patient process is militant and unkind. I get constant reminders in ALL caps color-coded. It makes me feel that the experience might match the care. I hope not! It's also ridiculous to be required to send private psychiatric information over insecure email. This should be illegal! And who has a fax machine!? I am writing this review specifically because, I too, want others that need this particular service and specialty to have a clear understanding of what they will be getting into. For anyone that suffers any type of dual-diagnosis' that requires (needs, wants, demands) a specialist that has a deep understanding and reputable experience in ADD/ADHD- then most certainly, call this office and get an appointment. Do not let any type of clerical or human error keep you from making your life better. Dr. McClelland is the reason I come to this practice, I would recommend him to my family, employees, and children if the specialty that he is in is what they needed. His office has recently grown and with all things that grow, pains come with. I do not like change as something that is consistent and the same works best for the very reasons I see Dr. McClelland in the first place. He is knowledgeable and in the world of the internet, WebMD and self-diagnosis pandemonium he is straight with you and will advise and treat you accordingly. He has run behind for my appointments... but so have I. I have missed appointments, I have ran late myself and sat there until he could see me and his office has squeezed me in when I was desperate. I have heard the knock on the door to tell him the time is up when he is investigating an issue I am having and wanting to make sure that he is thorough before my next visit. I seek PSYCHIATRY and Northwest Psychiatry and since most of us have knowledge of first world problems we understand that when we come to a SPECIALIZED practice in something that is often impractical and more times than not... unplanned- I am extremely thankful for a doctor that is dedicated, knowledgeable and thorough. Also, a psychiatrist... a therapist... a dentist... a bird walker is not a one fits all. I would hope that someone would do far more research on their actual needs than to look it up on a place that we find out about the best tacos in town and where we can get a flat tire fixed in an unknown area. read more

Not sure what all these negative reviews are about, but I've had nothing but glowing experiences with Lindsey Mills. She's never been late, ever. She's extremely kind, warm and understanding...and most importantly, SHE GETS IT. She listens and gives responses that make it clear that she's actually listening and understands the condition...not the same with most physicians I've experienced. Most usually are cold, condescending, and can't wait to get you OUT the door. Not Lindsey, she's someone I look forward to talking to, it's almost therapy within itself. She has helped me turn my life around, and in many ways, has frankly saved my marriage, my career, my life in general...and I finally, finally, FINALLY feel like I can enjoy my life!!!!! The philosophy of this dr that curing ahdh magically cures all other mental illness and his disbelief in comorbidity and cooccuring mental illness is dangerous. He was arrogant, disregarded other professionals assessments and diagnosis, and didn't listen to the patient or family. Then when he discovered we had our own Drs and were there for the QB test results only, the office suddenly kept being not able to send those results to our other doctors. [Note: I am writing this review because I see a lot of negative reviews listed, and I want to share my opinion/story of this practice. Skip to the end if you want my summary of what to expect.] I went in to see Dr. McClelland in 2017 for depression after having "waves" of it on and off my whole life (especially as an adult), and it finally got bad enough, for long enough, that I decided it was probably time to try antidepressants. The stigma of drug treatments and my own worry about taking "mood altering drugs" had kept me away until now, but I finally decided to see if my life could be improved. Dr. McClelland was very kind, listened to my story, and asked followup questions. After I had rambled for 30 minutes about my life, jumping all over the place, he said something to the effect of, "I don't think depression is your problem, I think you have untreated ADHD which can often manifest as depression." Which makes sense... if your brain struggles with some things more than other people, but you don't know about it, it's very easy to spiral into depression and a struggle to feel "worthy", when everyone around you seems to effortlessly do tasks that are incredibly difficult for you. I was scheduled for a "QB Test", as well as given an ADHD survey for me and my loved ones to fill out separately and compare answers. Going through that survey was eye-opening, it was like someone had recorded all the things in my life where I stumbled into a single form. The QB Test was torture in exactly the right way... it's a monotonous task that I started out very strong in, but was eventually struggling to even stay awake while taking it in the middle of the day. It provided concrete metrics about how far from the median I performed on several ADHD-related measurements. After a couple more visits, I was officially diagnosed with ADHD and we began trying to find the right medication. Dr. McClelland did an excellent job explaining the different medications and how they related to one another, as well as statistics on how effective each was at treatment across the ADHD population. When trying out ADHD medications and ramping up the dosage, I was encountering the side effects of the medication before I got to the correct dosage. Once again Dr. McClellan's expertise in this area was terrific, because it turns out that "hypersensitivity" is often a comorbid condition with ADHD. (Which explains why I carried earplugs around on my keychain for noisy bars.) Dr. McClelland was very knowledgeable about this symptom and the possible drug treatments, which allowed me to find a medication that "turned down" the hypersensitivity (it even helped me go outside without sunglasses in slightly less pain) enough that I could find the correct dosage of ADHD medication. [Summary Time] Dr. McClelland was the *perfect* doctor for me at this point and time, he caught the ADHD symptoms and helped me to consider a disorder that I otherwise would never have looked at (because there is a stigma about ADHD in general, and I was never physically "hyperactive", and seemed to do well enough in school "when I applied myself"). However, part of the reason caught my ADHD was that he himself has ADHD, and he focuses on it as a practice (which I greatly appreciate, because so many Doctors are hesitant to investigate the possibility of ADHD because of fears about the stimulant medications). Since he himself has ADHD, it does mean that he's very understanding about the struggles ADHD patients face, but it also means that he himself faces some of those struggles. One of the biggest ones that will affect you as a patient is his time management... he is frequently running late or losing track of time, and his staff does their best to help wrangle him. You should *not* take this as a sign he doesn't care about his patients, but I can understand how people visiting him for the first time might feel "blown off" while waiting for the Doctor to arrive at the office. The other complaint I see in these reviews is that he likes to tackle the ADHD first, before other problems like Depression or Anxiety (an approach that worked well for me). There are a couple reasons he provided for this, one is that often if you can find the right ADHD treatment, the Depression or Anxiety will be dramatically lessened, possibly to the point that it's no longer something you need outside help with. The other big reason is that it's far easier to try out ADHD meds and find the correct dosage... you can start one medication, ramp it up over several days, and if the medication doesn't agree with you, you can immediately stop it, as opposed to Depression medications which often take weeks to "ramp up" and "wean off" when you want to switch medications. In short, I definitely recommend Dr. McClelland for ADHD related treatment, and always felt like he gave me agency in my treatment plan. That said, his focus is ADHD, and I cannot speak to how effective his non-ADHD treatment plans are. read more

This review is for Dr. Kahl only (Kaul not Kahl but for some reason Yelp keeps changing it back). Let me begin by saying that initially Dr. Kahl was very good and helped diagnose my ADHD/OCD. She even helped me find a good dose of the right medicine for it through trial and error. When we found the right dose, I went back to get a refill and update her on some new progressions. Upon returning, she seemed to have completely forgotten whom I was and my entire medical history. She forgot that I had cancer and forgot that I had migraines. Upon "learning this new information", she cut my medicine in half even though that medicine was now crucial to being able to navigate my life and help control the many aspects of cancer recovery. She then accused me of withholding this information from her EVEN THOUGH SHE HAD MY MEDICAL HISTORY IN FRONT OF HER and ASKED TO SEE MY CANCER AS PROOF. When I showed her the grapefruit sized tumor, she then told me to look up the word karma (insert ten angry emojis here). Needless to say, I am filing a complaint with the medical board of Washington as I work in the medical field and have never ever encountered such an incompetent, rude, psychotic doctor. Life changing and positive experience. I'm a changed person - happy, jovial, and attentive. Prior, I suffered from PTSD, anxiety and depression. My treatment involved 30 sessions of Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). While my brain got shocked, I became happier. TMS worked - I'm now a more engaged and confident person. Dr. McClelland and his staff are unbelievable. His staff are easy to relate to, educated, and passionate about a patient's care. I agree with the above statements. Often times, Dr. Mcclelland is not always on time and seems like he can get confused with scheduling. Also, his receptionists are definitely not the most friendly and informative on time management. These reasons above are why I give this practice 4 stars instead of 5. But besides the poor scheduling and tardiness, he truly does put a lot of personal care and dedication into his patients. For someone who has been to several doctors regarding my ADD, they have never put in the effort to find the right medication for me; they just prescribe me what they prescribe everyone else. He helped me understand adult ADD/ADHD in a way no other doctor has been able to. I briefly told him my medication history and right off the bat he pinpointed my problem and explained to me why the other medications weren't working for me. When I left from my first consultation with Dr. Mcclelland I was so confident that I had finally found the right doctor to help me. His education and dedication to finding the right medication for adults struggling with this affliction is so precise. I appreciate everything he has done for me. In a way, his occasional tardiness or delays due to a session he has with another patient outweighs the positive results I have gotten from the help of his expertise. I have referred him to friends and family because he WILL get you the best medication that works for you. You may have to just be patient with his timing and scheduling, but it IS worth it. read more

This review is solely directed towards Dr. Kaul. This psychiatrist has tremendous experience which shows for itself when you first meet her. She not only manages medication for her patients but also incorporates psychotherapy to assist patients further than just prescribing medication as "an easy fix" and sending them on their way. Her wisdom comes from her personal and professional experience, which exceeds expectations of a psychiatrist these days. ALSO, she's a doctor that specializes in one field, but continues to educate herself in the overall medical field! Her knowledge is tremendous. The front desk/billing department is a nightmare. I actually had to take an anti anxiety medication after interactions with them today.

The actual Drs here are fantastic. Quick, efficient, and always looking to help. But man, they really need to work on who they hire as their customer service/helpdesk team. They are consistently incredibly rude. I missed an appointment and that comes with a fee, I understand that. But when I call 10 minutes after my appointment, asking to reschedule, I don't care about the fee. I never asked about the fee. I'm trying to reschedule to go see my doctor. Don't tell me it won't matter if I reschedule, that I'll still have a fee. That wasn't even brought up. Please do better. read more

Yes I agree with the other reviews. I went in for my first appointment and Dr. McClellend was extremely late. His staff seemed confused as to why and they barely know any details to how things work.
