Ethical concerns with billing errors and zero-notification fees I am highly frustrated by the billing practices and lack of communication at Mindful Therapy Group. First, I was explicitly quoted a $0 co-pay. Based on that information, I attended weekly appointments for nearly two months. Suddenly, co-pays started being deducted from my account on file. When I called to investigate, I was told there was a co-pay after all, and I was being back-billed for multiple past appointments. While I understand that the co-pay amount itself may be determined by insurance, there is a serious ethical issue with charging and back-charging a client's card without any prior notification or statement. Because I was quoted zero, I had no reason to go looking for hidden statements in an online portal. Second, while I was away on vacation, I was scheduled for a time that I was not used to and unfortunately forgot the appointment. I received absolutely no notification, phone call, text, or email reminder on the day of the session. Despite the total lack of communication, they promptly charged my card a $180 no-show fee. Among other things, they assured me that my insurance covered the two, thirty minute sessions I had, and then ended up taking $450 in total from my account. Thieves as far as I'm concerned. The "therapist" was very nice, but seemed like she was pretty new to the field, and just seemed like she was only interested in furnishing me with drugs of one sort or another. Maybe that's okay, but it seemed like a very superficial encounter - especially for $450. read more

I've had a great experience with my therapist, but the billing department has been a nightmare. I updated my insurance well before my appointment, yet I was still charged the full $125 out of pocket. My insurance confirmed the claim was processed at the end of April, and their own billing portal shows a credit on my account. Still, they've withheld my refund with no resolution. Every time I reached out, the timeline changed first I was told it would take a "few" weeks, then two weeks. Now, nearly two months later, they're saying 4-6 weeks. At this point, either their system is completely broken, or they're being dishonest. I've filed a chargeback through my bank and will not be returning. read more

Therapy with Sean Trudeau felt like a coercive and exploitative dynamic rather than treatment. There were repeated boundary violations, role reversal, and ongoing requests for my private work despite clear refusal. The interaction included cycles of excessive praise followed by pressure and guilt, reframing my boundaries as flaws and minimizing my distress as "nervousness." Professional boundaries were blurred through personal disclosures that shifted attention away from my needs, and previously-set limits on topics were repeatedly ignored. A joint family session undermined prior support and increased mistrust. When I expressed crisis and attempted to end care, communication stopped, resulting in lack of closure and perceived abandonment. Overall, the pattern felt like manipulation, dependency-building, and gaslighting that eroded trust. I would recommend documenting interactions and taking precautions to ensure accurate records of care. read more

The providers are great. The waiting room in the northgate location is very uncomfortable and cramped. This is a new location. If you take someone to an appointment at this location and need to wait for them, be prepared for uncomfortable chairs and an overcrowded space. read more

Check-in is friendly. Reception room is very small and has uncomfortable seating. I don't like the grey color scheme, feels very flat and cold. This appears to be more of a brokerage company who acts as both referral and administrative services to independent mental health providers across several states. My experience, thus far, has only been through the intake process, which is quite lengthy, very inefficient and a bit personal (in terms of medical history) that I personally have provided to numerous representative who seem to be working in a multitasking supersized call center. They have contracted with my Medicare Advantage HMO provider, so I have no choice but to comply to with whatever mental health decisions this company chooses to approve. They do not have a provider in my local area, so I will be meeting the only female (per my request) provider by what they call "telehealth" (also known as a Zoom call). To date, I have had about 5 or 6 phone calls and a series of text messages - all from different representatives - for various intake coordination. However, when I had incomplete code info to Login to my first Zoom "telehealth" appointment, I had to reschedule the entire 5 appt. lineup. Today, was supposed to be my first rescheduled visit. But when I logged into the Mindful Therapy Group portal to initiate the appointment call, I learned it had not been scheduled. Another call to their intake schedulers confirmed that there was not an appointment listed and because I had missed my initial Zoom call, that provider had dropped all of my pre scheduled appointments. I am assuming she thought I had just blown her off, rather than learning I had actually tried (consequently, spending another 30 minutes with another intake rep in order to reschedule the unscheduled appointment for today). This is just another example of the lack of interest companies have in providing quality customer service. It's one thing to be dissed by Comcast or Instacart - but, quite another when it starts to impair the quality of our healthcare. read more

I saw a therapist through Mindful Therapy Group a few years ago that wasn't very effective, so I was hesitant to try going through them again. A friend mentioned she was seeing a great therapist through MTG, so I decided to give it another chance. Evan was very friendly and professional with helping me schedule an appointment with a therapist and Nurse Practitioner. I even got both appointments scheduled within a week.. whereas the other healthcare provider I normally go through told me there was a 3 month wait. Taylor Fancher, the Nurse Practitioner is amazing! He really took the time to get to know my history and symptoms. He's easy to talk to, and very helpful. Catherine (Cathy) Shea is the best therapist I've ever had. She really frames her questions to get you thinking about the problem, and offers her own valuable insight. I'm really excited about our ongoing weekly appointments, and it's so convenient having the appointments through Zoom. read more

While the manager's response to my initial review looks to be engaging and helpful, it took two months since I posted to receive a reply. My son does continue to use a provider here, but I cannot recommend them given all the trouble we have. They don't even run their insurance claims or billing on a regular basis so I never know what we owe for services. read more

My son saw a very good psychiatric nurse practitioner here in January, and then he couldn't see her for a number of months as he was away at college. In May, he requested another appointment. It took a month to get in to see her. We waited anxiously as he really needed a new medication prescription. When he had the appointment, she said that she couldn't prescribe anything as it was her last day with the company. She said they should have known not to schedule him with her on the last day. She said she was angry with the company and would have them contact us, but a week later they still have not done so. read more

I have had a terrible experience with this business. I had one virtual visit with Lauralie Huddleston, then set up a second for the following week. She did not show for the second virtual visit. The company has been trying to charge me for this visit that did not occur but I cannot reach anyone by phone or email. I just keep getting automated messages that I owe money. I understand snafoos occur with virtual visits but they should not be charging me for this and obviously should also return my calls/emails. This has been very disappointing and frustrating for me. An incredibly wholistic take on therapy, with mindfulness, compassion, and care woven into every aspect of patient interaction. The buy front desk staff always make time to answer billing, scheduling, or practitioner questions either in person or on the phone. Wading through insurance and billing is daunting but here I feel like I have a partner along the way. All providers work independently but the group feel makes scheduling, billing, and even the waiting room much more enjoyable. The staff and the two providers I've worked with have always been positive, insightful, and caring while still direct and helpful. read more

I'm extremely grateful for Mindful Therapy Group and all they do to help cater to the needs of their clients. When you walk in, it's a beautiful well-kept environment with nice music, a great quote of the day, tea and water available, and friendly faces to greet you. I've seen two of the therapists here for different reasons and both have been so patient with me. They skillfully allow for expansion and description, but guide the process to finding peace in a gentle and nourishing way. This location is easy to get to when driving from Downtown Seattle. Mindful Therapy Group has a large database of therapists, some of whom are able to take insurance because of MTG's contracts. This is the positive. From an information management perspective, however, I am less than pleased. When I was beginning to use their services, they confirmed that my insurance information was on record, then repeatedly charged me out of pocket for covered services. They sent my email address to other potential clients, and theirs to me, after I requested information about services in my area. They have billed me again for a bill I paid a week prior. I appreciate their services but do not trust them enough to keep a card in their system. read more

I had the GREAT MISFORTUNE of having sought care with Jinn Schladweiler, ARNP at Mindful Therapy Group Northgate. I was desperate for help with my anxiety, depression and anger issues. My struggles were affecting EVERY part of my life and I was in a bad place. And though the medication Ms. Schladweiler prescribed made a HUGE difference in my mental health, having to communicate and and deal with this woman was the WORST experience of my life. She is cold and uncaring. Every response is removed and clinical. She didnt listen to me, didnt care about other treatment options I was interested in. When I reached out via email to ask about some Supplements I was interested in taking and if they would interact with my Rx - she again was COLD and RUDE in her response. She demanded I make an appt with her to discuss this (which I would have done gladly had she been a human being about it) and went on an on about how she needs to be compensated for her time and that researching my question would take hours she doesn't have, etc. ALL she had to say was "lets make an appt to discuss your questions". that is ALL she had to say, YET she chose to be RUDE and COLD and ROBOTIC and DISMISSIVE. She would set appts for me with other counselors and NOT even say she was doing it. That counselor would call me all upset/concerned I "no-showed" for their appt when I NEVER EVEN KNEW I HAD ONE TO BEGIN WITH!!! Ms. Schladweiler has no business "treating" people with mental health issues when she can't manage her own mental health. She is cruel. She is cold. She "fired" me as a patient (by mail, didnt even have the courage to say it to my face or by phone even). All because I asked her a question about taking Supplements to improve my health. She has NO interest in improving my health, just taking my money. read more

The provider (therapist) we work with here is totally good, it is the management side (billing, online account, etc.) that needs serious improvement! For instance, you only get a statement if something is owed so you cannot see what is being sent to your insurance company. Because of this, I discovered incorrect billing had been ongoing for several months. Trying to get this corrected has not been easy. The online portal account is almost useless in that you can submit a few forms there but you can't really communicate through it, can't schedule through it, the emails sent through the portal take over a month for a response, and and you can't even update your credit card there. Most of the times I've tried getting something taken care of by emailing the management side, they refer you back to the provider. Just really disfunction all around. Again, the provider/therapist is great so if you can work around these other issues, then you can probably still receive good care which is the number one priority. read more

Over the course of a few phone calls, she helped me find a new therapist to work with, and accommodated my childcare schedule. She also explained how the administrative error occurred and the steps that her office is taking to prevent a recurrence. I started going here for therapy and services back in January. Overall, this is a wonderful practice. I see Wendy Nystrom, and she is AWESOME. If you are dealing with trauma, anxiety issues, she is your therapist! I also see Claire Tilley, DNP for medication management. I rated four stars because at one time I had billing issues and they would not budge with helping me, but the situation was eventually resolved and we settled. BE WARNED that they do make you pay the full price for the visit if you have a deductible and it has not been met yet. They will not bill you. If this is a problem, then they may not be for you. The staff is always nice and helps me check in and check out, etc. When I call to ask questions, someone is always prompt to answer me or get me to someone that can help me address the issue. Overall, if you are looking for therapy or medication management for anxiety, depression, trauma, etc. look no further. You will not be disappointed as they have a GREAT set of therapists! read more

Run away from this clinic. Do not trust them. I have provided to them my insurance and they confirmed that treatment is covered. Then they decided to charge my credit card and started harassing me with phone calls requiring my credit card data. I asked couple of questions, confirmed coverage of insurance. They didn't listen and cancelled my appointment. This is terrible organization. I spoke with therapist and she did not demonstrate any medical qualification. I started going here a few months ago and I have been motivated and always look forward to coming in on my weekly appointments. I've seen other therapists in the past but it never quite worked out for me, the therapist I'm seeing is wonderful and very insightful. It really feels like she knows what I'm thinking and know how to help me. She teaches me in a way that I would understand and help me set goals. My very important appointment was cancelled at the last minute, I'd been waiting to see this person for a few months. I was very unhappy with their lack of organization. I came to mindful therapy group in 2015 while struggling with relationships, my career, and my belief in self (at the behest of my naggy mother- who was right!) I first saw Christie who was *phenomenal.* Throughout our sessions together, we uncovered a very crucial piece to my successes and in tandem, my mental health. I left every appointment feeling like something within myself had been uncovered. I couldn't have done any of that growth without her. I recommend her to all my friends, and will be back soon I'm sure. She's an angel on earth of something. In the interim period I have been seeing Morgan McCrae as my prescribing psychiatric practitioner, though he provides above and beyond what I know to be the standard practice. I suffer from alcoholism, major depressive disorder, and have been sober for 2 years. I require a very specific drug combination that I've been on for 7 years in order to be the successful and creative woman I am deep down. Morgan's practice involves medically treating my mental health while balancing the precarious nature of addiction and recovery. During my regular visits with him, his expertise has helped me to grow in the priceless knowledge of myself, something I specifically came to therapy to help figure out, and something I consider invaluable in a mental health coach. Thanks again to Mindful Therapy Group, I credit any of my own success to you guys. You help keep the painful reality of my psychopharmacology, and my deep, rich love of life in a sometimes beautiful, usually workable balance. read more

We started going to Mindful Therapy group years ago with our daughter when she was using heroin. The therapist there was wonderful and was the first person of many therapists who was actually able to diagnose our daughter with bipolar disorder. She has since quit the drugs and takes her medications for her disorder regularly. She has been sober for 3 years and is back in school and keeping her life on track. We recently moved to Northgate office for our daughter's medication management, She had been managed by her primary doctor but we felt that she was having too many side effects. Our first visit to MTG was amazing! We were not rushed and the NP listened to all of our concerns, and took the time to thoroughly assess my daughter's situation. We followed up for the next few weeks and adjustments were made to her medications as they were needed. My daughter now just goes monthly and is feeling great. The side effects from the medications were causing her to want to skip taking them, but now she has been taking her medications more consistently. We finally have things going really well with her and owe it to the people at MTG. The people here are very knowledgeable and actually care about people. We definitely recommend this group to anyone who needs help and feels discouraged with their current situation. read more
