I was completely blown away by this auto repair shop. I have NEVER in my decades (5 decades to be exact) of experience working with auto repair shops witnessed the high level of technical competence, open and honesty communication, customer focus exhibited by Horace, Nick, and the staff at this shop. I had a battery problem and needed to see if it is simply a battery issue or something more serious with the electrical system. They ran a series of test on not only the battery, but also on the alternator and also tested for battery drainage issues. Instead of making up something like most shops would so they can get a job out of it, they said all the tests( about an hours worth) revealed no issues they could find. If my problem recurs in a day or two to bring it back. As i was prepared to pay for the service, the owner said there is no charge since nothing is wrong and to return if problem recurs. However, he added he does not think he will see me again as he found nothing. I have not experienced any problem since. I have two other cars and guess who would I trust them to next time I have a problem. This is what makes a service establishment successful, focus on the long term relationship and not on short term transactional gain. read more

Turned my frown, upside down Overheated Car after having Thanksgiving Dinner !!! That was me! It was about 9pm and I am leaving Jersey to go home to Connecticut, and my car overheated!!! After getting my car towed to my moms home in Jersey, I was more worried about where I can get my car fixed ASAP! I also have two kids with me as we were stuck in Jersey. I got in contact with a local Auto Shop named Protec. I dropped my car on Friday and Horace checked my car out immediately. He called me with the issues and quoted what I thought was a very good price for parts and labor to replace my waterpump! My truck was a R350 Mercedes. He finished fixing my car that SAME DAY which was a huge deal to me!! Horace even called me the next day to follow up and make sure my car was good and no coolant was leaking. Customer service and Auto Repair Shop are usually not associated in a positive way, which is what makes ProTec so special. Horace and Nicholas are amazing. Communication was quick and Nicholas helped narrow the focus of potential problems before I even arrived for an appointment. Horace was unbelievably thorough in his contemplative analysis of my cars issues. He listened to what I had to say, how I described the cars issues; we had an actual conversation about it. He didnt just run a diagnostic test and tell me what a tool said was wrong, he also studied my engine like a doctor, even taking out a sonic listening device so that I could hear the sounds inside the motor. It was very impressive how thorough he was just on the consultation. When he narrowed in on my issues, he didnt try to needlessly sell me, in fact, he pointed out several things that I could do on my own. I've had the pleasure of having my car serviced there for years. Its about time they got on line so that I can tell everyone about how great they are. A father son, team, they are extremely knowledgeable and as a family owned business they embody all the good qualities that you want to find not only in mechanics, but in the people who surround you as well. Incredibly honest, they will not mislead you, when they service your car you don't have to come back for the same repair over and over. Additionally, they used to service my 2006 Hyundai and when the cost of repairs exceeded the book value, rather than make the repairs, they advised me that it was time to buy a new car -- even though they might risk losing my business to the dealer in the meantime! We're always reluctant to have our 30 year old Cadillac Eldorado worked on by a new mechanic, but when we were in need of a new evaporator core this spring we decided to give ProTec a try. We were immediately impressed at how fast Horace found the replacement part and gave us a fair estimate within minutes. We returned with the car the next day and picked it up after a day and a half with the A/C blowing ice-cold air. We've also taken our old lady back a few times over the summer for general servicing and to have several strange squeaks and rattles repaired. Sent my mom with 2003 sequoia that had back gate latch issue where the door does not open. Very common problem on this model. When I had my Altima over seven years ago, I was told my a mechanic at a different shop that I needed shocks.
